The PS3 that had PSHome Data you should probably contact Destination Home to try and extract and donate its contents to preserve it and use it in their service, that stuffs rare to come by, although based on what you did, you just threw everything away

17:47 I had a wee years ago that would scratch discs mean a friend took it apart to see what was wrong and the plastic inside the strip was warped, so the disc would constantly rub against the inner plastic of the disc drive we weren’t able to get it working again, butI think that might be what’s going on with that we even don’t mine didn’t make that loud noise.

jacob accidentally nuked the data by just updating home and connecting it to the internet. the update self-destructed all of the console's cached data by starting it up.

I'm glad I bought a ps3 super slim a couple months ago. Tons of games that are going to go up in value. I paid $65 for a used copy of spec ops. Been playing Dark Souls 2 vanilla. Next is a ps2 slim my favorite console Sony put out. The fact that it's the size of a book makes taking it anywhere so easy.

The Playstation Home farewell message made me sad. I always used it for news and weather and just to explore other things that the service offered. I feel like Sony just gave up on something that a lot of people found valuable and useful (i forgot the actual number you quoted, but it was a LOT). I hope, in some shape or form, they bring it back. I doubt it though.
