"I hope you apologized for trying to directly invalidate her feelings" I- no. It's literally so blatantly obvious that _she was the favorite_ that saying otherwise _is_ a bit delusional and she needed some sort of reality check otherwise she would have kept attacking OP and pinning all of her issues on her. It doesn't matter if she's depressed and anxious, she doesn't get to blame OP for her actions and then pull the "I'm mentally ill therefore you can't say anything" card when she gets called out for it. It's good she's getting the help she needs but there's no excusing her actions.

Pretty much the script for golden children that really can't live up to the hype.
@jaymel46912 жыл бұрын
Yeah, no. OP should not apologize to June for giving her a sorely needed reality check. It would be one thing if OP actually WAS the favorite (which she would have had to face and deal with herself), but she wasn't and she had plenty of examples to prove it. People need to stop using their mental illness to excuse their own shitty behavior.

For real! And based on the dad's initial reaction, it's not surprising either... mom was stunned but dad was in denial until he went through the blog. Even then, his disappointment spoke volumes. Depends, a lot of places in the US are built exactly the same, so decorations are what distinguish one house from the other on the inside.
@pansprayers2 жыл бұрын
You'd be surprised. Most developments have two or three floor plans they build off of, and the companies building them have hundreds, if not thousands of the model built that you live in. Not everyone upgrades from the standard turn-key, or has unique decor. Housing is pretty cookie cutter in the US suburban hellscape.
@jaymel46912 жыл бұрын
Seriously, so many houses are basically the same except the paint color on the outside and maybe the layout being mirrored. The same house designs are basically repeated over and over again, especially if it's a subdivision that was all built at once by one company. I can see how many kitchens would look exactly the same inside except for the decorations.
@moonlightshadowpony2 жыл бұрын
I have a neighbor who has the exact same kitchen as ours when we moved in, just mirrored over, same floor, countertops, cabinets, fridge, even the oven and microwave were identical but mirrored over. Not only that, but my old scout leader, family friend, ex best friend, neighbor across the street and co-worker all have the exact same house layout so from the inside you cannot tell them apart except for the decor

I feel she expanded on how she recognized it b/c ppl online are so harsh and mean sometimes. I think part of why the sister saw OP as the “favorite” has to do with the Golden Child’s dilemma. The thing is, when one kid is treated nicely and the other is treated like crap, sometimes, the psychology of the two kids get heavily warped to apply to how the parents treat them. A kid who is neglected or unfavored often has to work twice as hard to get recognition. The favorite child, on the other hand, gets the same validation for minimal effort. This can affect the favorite kid into adulthood, because, while their sibling was emotionally neglected and will have issues of their own, at least the neglected kid has a better grip on reality and how they have to put work into their lives. The favorite child has everything handed to them, so, when they are adults and can no longer rely on their parents uneven favoritism to support them (because, no matter how much mommy loves you, if she’s broke you’re not getting any money), then they find themselves at a loss. As kids, they got everything, but when the time came to be independent, the favorite kid was unprepared. As a result, the sister sees OP with a functional life (not even a perfect life, just a normal one) and gets resentful of the fact that, despite being the favorite, OP ended up being the responsible, stable and good natured sibling. I think this is where the sister’s envy stems from. That’s not to say that the sister isn’t an asshole, but having a favorite kid is very destructive in the long run for BOTH siblings; it creates self destructive people pleasers and maladjusted tyrants, both with shitty self esteem.

Well, the ex shaming her off of her meds will cause that. I hate people who think that they alone are a substitute for the medication that is keeping a person functioning. My husband can't properly make serotonin, nothing to do with me, so I buy the meds that help with that issue from the pharmacy for him. He's so much happier and stable that way. Weird, 🤷♂️
@jaymel46912 жыл бұрын
That many stressors at once can trigger mental issues in even a "normal" person, so I wasn't necessarily sure at first that the sister wasn't "normal". It's certainly a red flag, and one possibility. She could've been an otherwise ordinary person under extraordinary stress that had a mental break or something. Either way, she needed help and at least now she's getting it. It seems to me like June was the "favorite child", not OP- June just saw how successful (normal) her sister's life was compared to hers because she was handed everything by their parents and her younger sister learned early on how to work for what she has. It seemed like a big clue to me when OP reported her father at first didn't believe her about the fake mommy blog, until he saw it for himself and then he just looked disappointed. His princess had just fallen hard off her pedestal. June was ill-prepared for the real world as an adult due to being babied when she was younger and of course her sister did better for herself because she was already more independent. That may be why she was fired from her job. In any case June's ex was an asshole and at least she managed to get away from him finally. She never would've gotten the help she needed if he was still in the picture, he wouldn't even let her take her meds.

It's crazy how parents playing favourites usually destroys the relationship between siblings. OP's dad immediately dismissing the possibility of his golden child doing something so shady was very telling. Unhealthy dynamics passed from one generation to the other. The fact that she "said" it was because sis got everything... and she didn't... while she was the favorate child growing up... sounds like the real world hit her... when she COULDN'T get everything just handed her her, and decided she'd instead take what she wanted, and use the child to make herself more important online.

Why do so many people believe that they’re owed a free life if their sibling did well? Why do they believe their parents should “make it fair”? (I seriously don’t understand this trend of belief.)
@pansprayers2 жыл бұрын
There's 'equal' according to what each child needs, and then there's what is going on here. June was given WAY MORE than OP at every turn, and it didn't work out so well in the end.
@lsmmoore12 жыл бұрын
The thing about "making things fair" is that this framework originally referred to the idea of how we all have a responsibility to make things as fair for each other as we possibly can, and the corollary that it's kind of a cop-out not to bother contributing to making things fairer for others just because life doesn't automatically hand you fairness. And it still means that. Not "give me all the stuff because it's my due".
@gregjayonnaise83142 жыл бұрын
Because when you favor one child over the other, you end up distorting how both see reality. The favored child is so used to being spoiled and doted on that, when they are treated as mundanely as other people, they feel like they are being treated unfairly even when they aren’t. The neglected child also tends to see basic human decency as “niceness” and will have very low standards.

I will throw this out there responding to the comment about the dad playing favorites. Sorry it's kind of long because I give an example. I think they could both be the "favorites" but in different ways. I used to work in child services and saw this many times. The parents thought that one child was "better" than the other or I guess "naturally more successful". The other child was worse or I guess "needed help". So the golden child could do no wrong and was given verbal and emotional praise but left to fend for themselves more, while the spoiled child was often verbally put down but had everything handed to them. Both children would be resentful and see the other as the favorite. So the parents could have constantly said to the sister (June) "why can't you be like OP" and constantly praised OP to her sister or made negative comments about sister's life in comparison to OP. Basically saying that OP was "better" than sister. (Think of like how Ross and Monica's (from Friends) parents treated them). This leads to resentment by sister. But because they thought OP was "better" a.k.a. more successful / more capable / more intelligent / harder working/ etc., they didn't support her financially the way that they supported sister because they thought she didn't need it. Obviously this leads to resentment by OP. I don't think the parents meant to do anything bad. If sister had severe anxiety/depression, this probably manifested it in ways in which the parents thought they needed to take care of her / "baby her" (especially financially). But this same case also probably lead to them making positive comments about OP, comparing her to OP in a way that puts her down. Like I totally see a situation in which the parents were like "June, you aren't making that much money at all, and I think boyfriend isn't stable. Your car keeps breaking down, let us help you out by getting you a car." June after back and forth - I guess that's a good point, I won't turn down a free car. 2 months later, after parents got June a car. OP sees parent's get June new care and goes what the heck, they never got me a new car, only offered to sell used one to me. OP purchases new car. Parents - "June did you see OPs new car? Her and husband must be doing pretty well. It is really nice." June - parents obviously feel OP is better than me, keeping commenting on how nice it is, and how her and hubby must be doing nice. If June has severe anxiety and depression I could see her twisting this even more like her parents were rubbing it in that they purchased a car for her while OP could do it herself. So instead of like Friends where it is a joke, it becomes a serious issue.

I think this whole blog thing started because OP's sister moved in with OP when she was in a very dark place from her breakup and shortly after this major life shake up there was all of the sudden a baby that brought her much happiness. She pretended to be OP in the blog since her jealousy grew the longer she stayed with the family and became further attached to OP's child, husband, house, and lifestyle. If I were OP I wouldn't let her near my child, even if she improves, until they were in their teens, when they could understand the possible danger of being near their auntie even if she seems fine.

That first story was absolutely terrifying... Just from the sister's rants (as well as what was said by the OP and the parents), it is kind of clear that the older sister had a pretty pampered life and was now having to deal with the fact that things in the real world don't always go the way that one wants. That being said, being jealous of the OP's life is one thing... but the sister writing OP out of existence so that she can "live" OP's life [even if it is online] is a completely different monster. The OP and her family aren't characters in a fanfiction... they are real people! The older sister obviously needs some help (and a reality check), but the OP might want to put some distance for her and her family's own safety. You don't want to risk her hurting someone, whether it's herself or someone in your household. Edit: Okay, so I finished hearing the story and am glad that things went well all things considered: June is out of that situation and is getting her mental health back together, the sisters have reconciled for the most part, and no one wound up getting hurt from that exchange.

sister needs serious therapy. That's crazy shit .

So if someone is being delusional and you tell them they are delusional, you are INVALIDATING their feelings. Are you kidding me! She needed therapy because of this. Do you think the therapist is going to let her get away with not accepting the truth. You are delusion OhthatEthanMiquel

Wow! This story was wild, but that last comment was completely wrong. OP shouldn't have to apologize or validate her sister's very WRONG impression that she was somehow the favorite child when it's obvious that wasn't the case. By validating it, OP would only be making it easier for his sister to keeping pining her troubles on her. The sister needed a reality check. And I am glad that she seems to be getting better.

I will say having seen it in my own family I can understand why older sister would see op as "the favorite." My own father (who is the eldest) is considered the favorite child out of the three siblings. Mainly because he never "needed" help from his parent unlike the other 2, who still rely on them. So he is seen as the success and they are not but they get more financial help. (Obligatory this does not justify sisters actions)

The sister is delusional but I wonder what affects the dad’s enabling of his golden child had on her.
@Mimino55-y5k5 ай бұрын
Poor husband. The OP really has no judgement in bringing in her golden child sister in the first place, but OP was like la-di-da, let's bring my unemployed and depressed sister in, that will help with the family dynamic. And stop blaming the former BF, that chick was clearly too psycho for anybody to deal. OP was lucky she did not try to kidnap the baby.

S1) She's trying to live your life. The first step is to ask that the blog be pulled down since she's impersonating you and be flagged as a fraud. The second step is to talk it over with your husband about getting her out of the house as soon as the next hour. She's not safe around your child nor is it safe to keep her in your home where she can have access to her. Whatever her excuses are your child's safety and well being are now the top priority. Nothing else matters. Share those images and blog with the police so that you can get her tresspassed from your home and get a order of protection, a restraining order and make sure you're ready to share her picture with any schools you have planned for your child's future as a don't allow near your child or on the school property with the protection order and restraining order on top of your paper work. Make sure she gets a loud clear message that she'll never be allowed near you and more importantly around your child again as long as she draws breath. Just know you're perfectly fine to go full scorched earth on anyone who tries to defend her and her actions. So she did it for the attention. To be fulfilled about something in her life. To turn around and say OP was treated better is so delusional. The OP could tell her dad couldn't grasp it until the proof was smack dab in his face. He had his golden child's pedastal rug pulled out from under her and now has to question his own parenting in her entitled belief to OP's life. I'd tell the parents, especially dad that there would be minimal contact until she's seen a therapist. Seeing my daughter again though? Not unsupervised and especially while my sister was staying with them. That'd be "Unless you agree to come see her and be supervised than you'll have to wait until you can make it to see her. Sis has forfeited any right to be around my child for as long as she lives. Anyone who supports her deserves the same treatment." She thought that deleting the blog erased the fact that she is so disengaged with reality that it makes everything right? Yeah no. Like I said before it's time to have her tresspassed from your home, report her to any site if she tries to pull this again (Cause you have no idea if she saved any of these images) and go forth with a protection and restraining order against her. If she really is making improvements I'd say wait a year or two before thinking about letting her around your child supervised.

At least wait until the child is old enough to tell mommy when auntie is acting weird again.
@rylashadow182 жыл бұрын
@@terramarini6880 Which is why she's supervised with her visits. OP's dad wouldn't be the one in charge nor her mom. Either hubby or OP needs to be the one supervising or someone OP knows well and trust. Sis forfeited her rights when she decided to play in the land of make believe against the best interest of the real parents for her own ego. If her parents can't or won't accept those rules then wait until the kids in the teen age years and has some self defense classes as well as their own phone for safety as well as breathing classing for screaming at the top of her lungs. This is about the OP and her husband making this a boundary that no one, not the sister, not the parents and no one that wants a pitty party for them can undermind.

I think OP did everything right here. Except maybe I wouldn't allow my older sibling to stay at mine for years without getting a job or doing some kind of training.

S1 NTA your sister is mentally disturbed. Please press charges against her, and this identity theft. She's endangering your child. HUGE RED FLAGS your sister is delusional liar. Kick her out immediately, show your husband. Lock all your socials down. You don't need to apologize to her at all.

Sister is upset because its the family that matters. Not the school, not the cars, or the laptop. The younger is a mom, and a home maker. Is happy. Is fulfilling her purpose, as we all should. And the older one is not, nor likely ever too, and she knows it. Its upsetting and has caused her to become unhinged. Pay attention girls, chaseing the things men do wont make you happy. Theres a reason why more men die at there own hands.

Hey, Broken, sorry about the other day. I was so caught up in the idea of the “Cottage Club”. I love our corner of the internet. All positive & peace. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. Also, GOOD FOR YOU for standing up & being who you are. That person is beautiful and SAFE at our cafeteria table. Last night I was racking my brain trying to figure out where I came up with an (incorrect) male picture of you in my head. It’s because you use “m8”. I’m from the US & “mate” isn’t a commonly used word. I’ve only heard men from the UK use it to refer to their “bestie”. Can you tell I was in therapy forever? I need to know where the thought came from & then over think it. Much love, m8!

1st one, to be honest sounds like she is just so miserable with her life in tatters and living a fantasy to make herself feel better, don't think she is building a career or after her sisters husband. It is weird, but catfish exist for many reasons and most are far more toxic than this
