Story 1: OP made a huge mistake by not making an issue about the Bachelorette party. She is maid of honor and now the bride is being bombarded by this psycho. OP needs to be honest and tell her the what Janet has been doing. This will give her more backup that her choices are good enough. This girl needs to be out of this wedding yesterday and she is not a friend. She has done what she can to fuck up the entire wedding and the bride has no idea because OP had kept it quiet. First update: sister should have booted her out but it's her decision. That said, I hope they are able to contain her nonsense. Update 2: Janet is a co trolling drama vampire. Short of kicking her out of the wedding, this was probably the best way to handle it. For future, I'd encourage people not to keep quiet because, just as in this story, if they are doing it to you, they are doing it to others. I'm glad OP talked to her sister and sister became confident in her decisions.

@@keplersdream901 lol, first, I'm definitely not a "zoomer." 2nd, the sister only knew she herself was dealing with Janet and her issues. She was unaware of any other issues so OP is to blame for not letting her know about the issues Janet was creating. The sister had no idea. Finally, there were many ways to go about this and the plan formed by the sisters to alleviate as much stress on the bride as possible was for OP to handle it. Sister could have handled it, but their plan was based on the fact that this whole thing was happening around a wedding and the sister didn't need another thing to worry about. Had this drama been not centered around a bug event, the sister would have had to handle it but as it is, she delegated it to her sister. See that's the thing with friends and family. Good ones will HELP when you have issues. They'll take care of things that are of lower priority in your life so that you can deal with the higher priority stuff. So yeah, it was the sister's to deal with and she did that by having her sister help her do so. There is no shame in that and it shows maturity but not creating a bunch of huge issues and dealing with it in a calm and succinct manner instead of just confronting Janet and going off. God, this reminds me of my wedding. It was a tiny backyard affair, and I tried not to tell my mother I was even engaged for as long as possible, but my family played the telephone game and it got around to her anyway. Cue six months of her calling me in a panic about some super important, traditional thing I'd never heard of and therefore hadn't thought to do, so I'd then call my dad (whose backyard we were using) in a similar panic about it. He'd always laugh and tell me no, no one actually cared about these things, and it's my wedding, not hers, so just relax. I was lucky to have him, and the sister is lucky to have OP. Y'all, weddings are just an expensive party to celebrate you and your chosen partner. You can make it a freaking pajama party barbecue, you can have your reception at an arcade, you can have a hella fancy venue and just fill it with pizza and booze. You can have a courthouse quickie and blow the budget on your honeymoon. Whatever works, because you're married when you sign the papers, not when you have a ceremony. Some people get their panties in a twist over tradition, which I get, and some people just wanna run you over and make it about them. But it's not about them, and the people who love you just want to celebrate your happiness. So celebrate it however makes you happy.

When I was MoH at my best friend’s wedding, one of her other bridesmaids clearly felt that she was more deserving of MoH than I was. She was constantly making comments, but the worst she did that I can remember (I’ve tried to forget so I can have good memories of that wedding) is getting an expensive gift that all of us bridesmaids contributed to and putting a card on it that made it look like it was only from her. And that affected all of us, so at least I wasn’t singled out for that one. I don’t have any idea why some bridesmaids lose their minds and act territorial, or just like terrorists, at their friends’ weddings.

I always find it interesting, the pomp and circumstance other countries have with weddings, so that even a rehearsal is needed and has become another part of the experience. I've not yet had the honor of being asked to be someone's MOH, but I would do my damndest to make sure the bride knows I have her back, and more importantly, live up to it. The other bridesmaids should have double-checked with OP and the bride, and OP should have checked with the bride, too, about the bachelorette party. I don't have practical experience with any of this, but the bride and groom have final say in everything, and the MOH and best man should be directly beneath them in the "chain of command", making sure that not only everything leading up to the wedding, but the wedding itself, goes as smooth as possible for the bride and groom. Janet should not have even tried to step into what the bride had already decided would be OP's role. For the sake of Christopher or whoever it might be, I hope Janet gets her head out of her ass soon or he's smart enough to not propose to her.
