I asked her about the last one once, and she explained that her mother drilled all these rules into her, especially that smiling causes wrinkles, and she would be thwacked if she smiled to train it out of her. I’m in a het relationship with a guy. We’ve been engaged for a year and are looking for houses. He cooks, I put dishes in the washer, he puts them up. I wash / dry clothes, he puts them up. I always drive everywhere. I make “decisions” (meaning what to eat and the like) because he’s indecisive and never *wants* to. (Yes I do beg him to decide every now and again bc I am also indecisive). I budget and take care of bills and other important info. These responsibilities have been worked out through years of communication, understanding who likes / dislikes what, who is better at what. I can not describe how REVOLTING it was to hear some of the phrasing in these tweets - such as the marital rape apologetic one. I really have worked on building such a healthy relationship that I deadass forgot these kinds of people exist.

But we have a set plan where we spend a minute apart then come back and each have a chance to talk without being interrupted but it has to be "I" and "me" statements and reasons. It's not easy all the time, but we genuinely love one another and thus make that conscious effort. I have a hard time admitting when I'm wrong - and we have an established way he can gently call me out when I'm just continuing to argue for pride's sake. He has his problems I call him out for too. It takes effort and time and communication. ((Parents however? Statistically speaking, women outlive their husbands. As an employee in a public contact position in a federal government taxing agency I encountered widows who were the products of marriages of the sort that whacko prefers. Those were women in their sixties or seventies who for forty or fifty years had never paid a bill, or accessed a bank account for any purpose. Some had never driven a car or shopped for groceries.
@hope-cat48943 жыл бұрын
That's why is baffling to think this is the best way to live in a functioning society. If either partner dies, they don't know how to function independently. If the woman dies, the man can't manage a home and barely feed himself, and if the man dies, the woman can't handle bills to keep her head above debt. It forces people to rush from one marriage to the next before they can even properly grieve.
@KateeAngel3 жыл бұрын
So what that they have never driven a car? I have never and never plan to drive a car. I am 27, I study and work, and my mom drives a car, she is 68. @@hope-cat4894 yes, in the past such classification of duties to "female" and "male" ones worked only because people lived in extended multi-generational families, so there were always several people of every gender in the house. Seriously this dude is just an angry, sexist, control freak. I don't want to say he's a sociopath/psychopath (I have a BA is psyche which isn't enough to be diagnosising anyone) but for real dude has no empathy. I don't think he even cares about other men. He just doesn't want ANY woman to ever have power over ANY man because that would mean some women would expect to not be controlled or manipulated by men. Basically he benefits in his ideal patriarchical world- but he obviously could care less about anyone other than him. It's just that any women with any power over her life is somehow disrespectful to HIM in his eyes. You can't teach adults empathy. I'm not sure therapy would do anything for him. He just needs to F off to some forgotten forest where he can pretend it's the 1600's and his world view still has any sway (since it doesn't).

As a woman into being BDSM and submissive, i find that guy very creepy right from the first tweet, No bank account, no male friends, no career, that's so toxic. Also what a women would be to do if her husband die for some reason? No Job, no bank account, no financial skill how her and her children would keep going? And never mind that's not for all women at all...

I'm the same. If a guy said those things to me on a first date, I'd get up and leave. There's no point in continuing interaction with this person. It's obvious he's no Dom. I give a man my submission, and then we can talk rules. If he tries to impose himself on me beforehand, I just see him as a threat.
