Sousuke Sagara Yup. So far the relationships are: Zero Two x Hiro episode 15 has them decide to make it work and that they will talk it out. Goro x Ichigo, currently one sided on Godbro's end. Ikuno is gay and in love with Ichigo who seems to be pretty damn hetero unfortunately for her. Futoshi was one sidely in love with Kokoro but is starting to move on. Kokoro is in love with Mitsuru, and wants to be a mother. Teen pregnancy arc here we come. Mitsuru on his end shows some mixed reactions but seems to be reciprocating more. Mitsuru x Hiro is as dead as Hiro x Ichigo but given the vibes Mitsuru is most likely bisexual. Unknown if he leans more one way or another. Zorome and Miku; somehow the closest thing to a happy, healthy, wholesome relationship in this show lol.

That ending was emotionally wrenching, but with some time to reflect on it, I think that Zero Two and Hiro had their happy ending. In the end, Strelizia Apus was fighting all alone against VIRM. The sacrifice of Zero Two and Hiro is in keeping with centuries of Japanese storytelling that venerates young heroes who give their lives so that their society can survive. While VIRM wasn't destroyed totally (since evil can't ever be completely vanquished) the freeing of all the souls in their collective hive allowed several centuries of peace and the time needed for Earth to be reborn and a new society to thrive. Zero Two and Hiro would have no real place in that society since they could not have children or have the immortality Nana and Hachi have. However, with their reincarnation, they are now both human in a society free of war and can continue their love and grow up to wander the world as they wanted to do. And, if the threat from VIRM rematerializes, I'm sure they'll lead their new world in defending Earth as they did as part of Squad 13.

(Spoilers) The set up that lead to episode 15. I loved the anime up to before WIRM got introduced. I could have bought that Papa and the others were evil, it made sense for them to want control. But then we got alien space battles and a sorrowful ending. While I did outright sob when Hiro and Zero Two died and accepted each other just before said death I didn't really like it. It was more then the fact that they died. It just didn't feel like the ending they deserved, or the ending we deserved frankly. So that's why I'm reading retellings of the show now

When ichigo said that they made a decision as a group to remove Two from their squad, it zooms in on Goro to show that he voted against it. Despite being punched 3 yards into a window by Two, he still wanted Two to see Hiro. Finally, Goro basically forced Ichigo to take Hiro to Two.

They mostly destroy but don't wipe out virm, they basically suicide bomb it so they die, their friends move on and are happy, and one thousand years in the future Zero Two's and Hiro's souls reach earth and are reincarnated but they obviously don't remember anything from before, so it's kinda like them meeting for the first time
