If someone tells me it is a low mileage 1 or 2 lady owner and the car is a diesel I give it a swerve. That means dpf issues from never being driven properly but if it is petrol especially pre 2008 that is a steal. The I10 is mid at best at £4K and not so oddly it is still higher than it would have been 2 years ago. Great job with the drone shots.

Hi James, regarding the bank security checks I have been on the other end of this as a buyer a few times, however the last couple of times I have made a small payment into the sellers account before the the main payment and then the main payment has gone straight through! Even as little as £1.00 mainly to confirm the account details are correct. Hope this helps as it is a pain for both parties.

Personally, I wouldn't be trading as a sole trader in your position. There are many arguements for and against and a lot of misunderstanding too. Sometimes some professional advisors don't fully appreciate some of the practical advantages.
@MrDamo347 ай бұрын
You might want to shop around for a better accountant. A lot of accountants are just glorified book keepers. My first accountant cost me 12k in tax I needlessly paid in the first year of business by structuring my company in the wrong way. There’s got to be a workaround if you’re paying tax on unsold stock. Seriously needs looking into. It costs money to restructure your company to make it more tax efficient but if your tax liability ends up being substantially less the cost of the added complexity accountancy wise makes it a no brainier.
@julianadams37387 ай бұрын
Hi James. I had problems making payment for a second hand Fiat 500 that I purchased last November. Exactly as you related when selling the i10. The bank asked me if I had seen the car, driven it, knew the trader etc. All more than once , stating was I sure that it was not a scam. Having bought several cars over the years using just my bank card without a problem I realised that the market must have become an area for dodgy deals. Keep up the good work. By the way if I didn't live on the other side of the Country I would have paid you a visit.

Strange how the fashion for colours of cars changes - some time back I remember Mike Brewer saying that a white car could be hard to shift and was known as "90 day White"! Now its a really popular colour. Doubt that "doom blue" will make the same transformation but who knows. Business seems brisk at the lower end of the market although in the sectors further up they seem to be struggling according to reports.
@thefreedomguyuk7 ай бұрын
You'd much likely be better off trading as a limited company. Worth looking into. Also, you do need a better accountant to do your tax planning.

I feel for you. I own a small business (not selling cars) but also on accrual accounting basis. The amount I have paid in VAT, Corporation tax and business rates over the past 3 months is twice as much as I have paid myself in salary. Like you, customers some times accuse me of ripping them off, based on the price of parts alone, but, all you can do is try to explain to them that when running a business such as yours, you literally get the pocket change left over after overheads and taxes are deducted.

Sold our little camper van a few years back, chap came a couple of hours on the train to pick it up. Payment didn't go through after hours sat in my kitchen and phone calls to both banks - very awkward.
