I love personal trainers like her! It's very important to be physically and mentally healthy. If you have a trainer that makes you feel like crap, you won't be motivated to do anything. Her encouragement was perfect! Of course, it's different for every person, but I do feel like a nice trainer is better than a mean one. (By nice I mean, they still have to be firm so you actually see an improvement, but they aren't berating you, they encourage you)

I just started going to the gym and immediately I could tell my trainer and I were going to click. He knew what was up with me from reading the results of the scan and knew I was only eating twice a day. He could also tell I had scoliosis. He made sure that I got rest every time I felt gassed, but he was also no-nonsense about form and about pushing me to get through my sets. I felt like he was someone who could help me with my goals, and so now I'm looking forward to signing up for sessions with him.

It's seriously so heart warming to watch her interact with Jaz in a helpful and supportive way. I have a very healthy coworker whose trainer tells her all the time "if you want honesty, you honestly look like you weigh a lot and you need to work harder if you don't want that." She's 5'8" and less than 140lbs.

True. Point there. But she also stated in the beginning that she's a big advocate of "if you don't want to do it don't do it" lol. And that kind of mentality is why America as a whole is so unhealthy. We are all designed to live long and thriving lives and being overweight is not included in that equation. I used to give myself excuses all the time and now I'm paying for it. But ya know, I will no longer allow myself to slide back into monotony and apathy. I will push forward and get fit not for an ideal Beaty standard or to fit in a size 0 jeans, but so I won't have to have my limbs chopped off due to diabetes or have open heart surgery where they have to crack open my ribs so that one can pull out a long stringy fatty deposit of cholesterol from my arteries. I will get fit not because it's fun or because it's an option. Its for my family. For my future kids and for my husband. It would be selfish of me to cause premature death because I wanted to do whatever I wanted and eat extra butter or Twinkies. Not mad just passionate. No ill intent lol. Best of luck 🤗🤗

Angie S she actually sais it's an African kind of mentality. Also remember that there's lots of different reasons why people are getting bigger (not just in America). The food industries play a big part in it, the docu 'fed up' is really interesting and shows you how. And there's the mental health issue that lots of people have, which can be influenced by the media. I agree that your own mentality is very important, but I'm just trying to say that it's not as black and white as it seems:)

If you look around at some gyms they offer a free service so you meet up with them for like an optional 30 minutes once a week as part of your membership, you could even do it once a month, ask them to create a plan for you and what machines/cardio you should focus on as well as reps instead of paying to see them everyday etc.

You don't have to workout only when you want to lose weight/get in shape. It's important to workout even if you're genuinely happy in your own skin. Workout for your health. To relieve some stress. I really want to make a habit of working out at least 3x a week. And I know, when I do, I feel a lot better. But it's been difficult. And even though I've got exams coming up, I will try to workout for at least 15 minutes a day (not counting a warm up).

Working is amazing for you and I’m not talking just physically but mentally. It’s incredible how much it has helped me especially with school. When you workout just by yourself you tend to not push yourself as hard or make things easier for you that’s why I do a boot camp class it’s extremely tough and difficult but having that trainer pushing and encouraging you really helps you go the distance. You feel so proud and happy with yourself after it’s amazing you just think to yourself “ wow I can’t believe I just did that” when I workout I get into this kind of lul or trance that I focus on the task and I complete it, it’s extremely confidence boosting and it clears my mind and helps me focus better on things outside of the gym like school and other activities.

I hear ya, girl. I have had it hammered into me since I was 9 that my weight was THE measure of how healthy I am. My doc over-focuses on my weight, my skin doctor even focuses on weight. The only professional who has not focused on my weight above all else was my personal trainer. She was totally okay with my wish to never see or be told my weight on the weigh-in, she zoomed in on the exercises I liked the most and we giggled all through my workouts. I never felt better than when I was working out and paying absolutely no attention to how much I weighed. Good for you!!!

EccentricSoulfly1 unless you’re an actual athlete with a super high muscle mass, BMI is accurate enough. If you’re just the average person with a normal fat to muscle ratio, and you weigh a lot, that means you have a lot of fat. And if you have a lot of fat, its a precursor for weight related issues in the future, like heart and liver diseases and bone problems. BMI certainly doesn’t tell you the details of everything about your body, but if you have a BMI of 35 and a lot of fat, you’re not healthy using any kind of definition.

"I'm a big advocate for, ya know, if you don't wanna do it, don't do it." Actually, if that was how everyone was, none of us would get off of our butts to go to work or school or anything like that. If you want your life to amount to anything, you have to work hard and do things you don't always want to do. Just the way it is.

Exactly what I was thinking. And then she claims that her trying to lose weight was "unhealthy"... maybe she just "didn't want to do it"
@osixjoh7 жыл бұрын
No, she explained that working out JUST to lose weight is an unhealthy mindset. Feeling comfortable in your body and actually wanting to exercise for your health, rather than JUST to lose weight to try and feel better about yourself; the latter is psychologically unhealthy.
@morgankeller3967 жыл бұрын
Osixjoh it isn't unhealthy to want to feel healthy and good about yourself. It's unhealthy to "not want to" lose weight and be fit.
@osixjoh7 жыл бұрын
Exercise because you want to feel healthy and good about yourself is great. I'm not arguing against that. Wanting to lose weight just for the sake of losing weight - not because you want to be healthy but purely because you want to lose weight; that isn't psychologically healthy. There's a right mindset and a wrong mindset. I'm not saying wanting to lose weight is unhealthy; that would be pretty stupid. I'm saying the reason is important. A lot of people want to lose weight because of insecurity or body issues, and put undue pressure on themselves which can cause anxiety, self-loathing, and a lot of other negative psychological effects. Wanting to lose weight to improve your health and fitness is great, and should be encouraged. But too many people try to lose weight for the wrong reasons. That's what I'm pointing out.

I'm pretty overweight myself due to a bad diet and i smoke as well, but i still do a lot of cardio and some strength training. It's always funny when i'm out cycling or hill walking with some friends who eat healthy and are thinner. They expect me to be slow and out of breath where as a lot of the time, it's me having to wait up on them. Hopefully i'll quit smoking and improve my diet. I keep thinking if i feel this good from just exercise then once my diet is sorted and smoking is stopped i should feel even better.

I feel this was really brave of the client to have posted on KZbin. As a personal trainer myself I really get motivated by people like her, who commit to the regime, and stay as positive as can be expected throughout. We all started somewhere and everyone who has tried to train a little knows to stay motivated can be a struggle sometimes. But this gave me more motivation to keep going strong for myself and for my clients. That's what the job is all about in my opinion. You help people crush boundaries and make them see they can do a lot more than they think possible at first. the goal should not always be to become an athlete, but rather start by becoming healthy and more motivated, then the goals can shift and reach further. stay positive all global colleges who can't work as before because of Covid19. and to all healthcare workers out there in the world, a wholehearted thank you for your continued efforts.

Why are people hating on the trainer saying she's fat? if she's working out regularly and eating a balanced diet then she's healthy, just because she doesn't have a flat stomach doesn't mean she's not fit!

Personal trainers are supposed to be examples of fitness for the client. She is just fat and fat doesn't make you fit just because you exercise and if you are fat then clearly you do not have a balanced diet. I bet she does something stupid like low carb and struggles to do lose her fat due to all her fat intake. Fit people are often lean (lean, not shredded) and lean people have better health markers than fat people who exercise. The woman she trains is probably also one of those fat, ignorant fat acceptance SJW feminists.

I struggle with anxiety and depression. I hated sports and I couldn't stand gym class. Once I turned 16 and really got settled into working out, over the years I have noticed how much stronger I have become both mentally and physically. Seeing my muscles grow and pushing my limits has taught me that I truly can overcome difficulty, little by little, day by day. Health is really that important.

I started a weights class a few weeks ago (when I was 116, after taking an Aerobics class), and since then, I've gained four pounds of muscle in my weights class. But I look at the scale and it made me upset seeing the numbers had gone up, and I don't know why. It's not a big deal, I'm healthy, so I'm trying not to care. ;p
