Dean Lutgert because in a big truck you’ll lose your brakes in a hurry coasting in neutral and using the service brakes all the time. If your truck is loaded at 80,000 lbs gross and you’re coming down a hill in neutral you’re considered out of control, and the crash at the bottom will be your fault. Jake brakes don’t work in neutral.

Yup exactly my dads buddy used to drive a brand new Pete 579 with a 455hp paccar it’s been in the shop 7 or 8 times with engine troubles meanwhile my dad is driving a 2012 Pete 567 with a 525hp Cummins and not a hint of trouble. So for the new stuff just get something with a Cummins in it.

Not sure you actually know! There are certain applications and instances you occasionally shift the low side of an 18!! I'm 90k EMPTY and usually 230,000 or more loaded and rarely split the bottom side! Maybe a big hill.. getting started at a red light; maybe...The engines of the last decade have enough torque and HP to not require that low side split... 35+ yrs of driving 3 mill on my odometer... save the $$$ and weight! Yes I pull all 48 not just flat land!

this is cool seeing you go through generations. I painfully lived through it , since 1978. the 579 with a 550hp stamp is my favorite nerdy evolution right now. In nice weather, tiny cabs aren't bothersome. Head into some cold and blizzards and the reality of the new bunks is very pleasant. you can do microwave, all kinds of stuff.

Rodney u got it wrong , 1986 is actually the year they started mass producing the Peterbuilt 379 , yeah the same classic truck you meant , they actually stopped in 2007 with the last 1000 of them being called the Legacy class edition the biggest difference in appearance is the oval headlamps(ugly as fck) like in this video , a less defined grille and a top visor that barely cover shit and a round one piece windshield ,get ur facts straight ¬¬.

Yeah, I would say the 379 is oldschool seeing as it was the predecessor to the 389, yeah the 89 may LOOK oldschool, but it has a VERY modern interior and ergonomics

Donald Holbrook. Good point! I don’t much anymore, but I occasionally look to see if he has changed any. Nope still same old same old. Im going to take this opportunity to explain why I started and why I quit (unsubscribe). I started because of interest in the trucks, not Flatnasty, but the cab overs. It began going south shortly after he got the first one and trashed it for no apparent reason, then there was the white one where he covered it with shiny shit and then admitted the drive train, wiring, and engine were toast. A bunch of us told him to make it mechanically sound before adding the bling. During this time he dissed Iceman and his little brother and referred to any viewer as hater and keyboard cowboys who didn’t know anything. Not cool. There is a long list reasons I don’t watch, from the vid explaining why he and Amber are not pregnant anymore (poor taste at best) from jumping off task with school bus and fire truck to the insurance fraud. Nobody commits insurance fraud by accident. There too many others on U-tube that are informative, talented, and appear to enjoy sharing info in appreciative ways. I watch them a lot, Bruce no so much

Screaming Reaper, You are right, it is his money and he can do whatever, but here is where Bruce and I split. When you propose to take on some celebrity status, I feel you are then bound to present yourself with integrity, courtesy, and solicit the support of your clientele/viewers. Not Bruce, his viewers, myself included, tried keep him from making bone head mistakes. A lot of them were small things, too long mud flaps, too tall stacks, improper installation of headache rack, getting a CDL, not completing a task, semi-derogatory remarks to Iceman, and the list goes on. His response to these things was not to consider if there merit but to labels his viewers as haters and inexperienced no knowledge keyboard cowboys when in truth most of us want him to succeed and complete a unique kickass truck. Many of us have decades of experience and various skills but Bruce never considered that or tried pick our brains for knowledge acquired before Bruce was aslick spot on his Dadd’ys leg

Most of those windows on the back of sleepers are one way glass- you can see out them but noone can see in. Thats how my 379 was and most other trucks I drove with sleeper windows on the back or the sides of the sleeper.

Red colored splitter is a 13 speed, blue is a 10, gray is 18 speed. Loved the Minnions. The sub woofer is nice when watching movies.
