I GOT SCAMMED ON ETSY! Buying a $200 Skull Mask 💀

I'm at the other side. I'm a legit handmade seller, and Etsy has taken down some of my listings claiming I go against Etsy's handmade policies, I just have to guess someone stole my photos and it's making copies of my work, and then I'm punished for it 😓 I'm at my final strike, so Etsy will likely shut my shop down next time someone steals one of my photos. So Etsy is really trying to make the effort to clean the place from resellers and scammers, just not the right way 😅 So real handmade sellers are being closed or leaving by themselves, exhausted of Etsy doing this to us and not listening. We're so sad, tired and angry!

This is so upsetting... I'm truly sorry you have too deal with this. You should'nt have to be punish for this. Is there a way for you to contact someone thats works on etsy and let then know your etsy shop is legimt?? I'm sure It's tiredsome to be punish.

That Samhein mask (the real one) you got is so cool! ❤ I'm so sorry you had to deal with that Etsy scammer though. I hate it too because im a legitimate Etsy seller myself (I make what I sell by hand) and the scammers like the one you dealt with make us all look bad. I always make sure to look at reviews to try to make sure too. Fortunately i haven't been scammed on Etsy by other sellers, but I have been scammed on eBay before.

I am so sorry that you had to deal with that, as an Etsy seller, I would hate for my customers to be disappointed in one of my products, but if they were, I would try everything to make it up to them, but recently I was also scammed by another shop owner for a crochet pattern, I made a video about it on my channel as well, it sucks that Etsy is now being plagued with scams like these, I hope viewers will watch these videos and be aware and know what to look out for. I hate scammer sellers. They really do make it so difficult to find good items. I've been shopping on Etsy for awhile now, and have been scammed a couple times myself. I've started reading reviews on items I'm looking to buy, then messaging some of those people who left reviews, so I can be sure if the shops legit. It really does make shopping exhausting, which as you said, shopping shouldn't be this tiring. I also hate the fact that scammers do make a bad rep for other sellers. I do artwork and crafting myself, but due to scammer sellers, I'm worried if I finalize my Etsy to sell things, scammers will steal from me. It's exhausting having to deal with the stress.

Very cool mask and so glad you found the original artist. Etsy is getting difficult to shop on. I cross stitch and sometimes I use Etsy to find some patterns. There are patterns being sold for less than $5 for the PDF of patterns that do not come as PDFs. So the seller may have purchased an original paper chart, recharted it, and is now reselling it which goes against copyright laws here in the US. Other countries may not have these type of laws so they get away with it. It's not just Etsy either. AliExpress, TEMU, Wish, etc. steal artwork too. Thanks for sharing the cool stuff.

Thank you SO SOOOOOOO much for doing this. I've been scammed hundreds of dollars in ads that ended up as 3rd? Party? Facebook I think mostly. Understand, was not and had not been using Facebook for a very long time. Just after losing money and trying to research, the accounts came back to Facebook. I imagine all platforms as the same and just didn't trust anyone anymore. 😢

I had an experience with a shop called CraftsBy Jamal where the message on the shop reads "CraftsByJamal is currently not selling on Etsy" after a second interaction to fix a poor fitting dress. This was clearly someone who placed orders online and was not located in the US even though their address says Washington, US. These sellers don't have any inventory, only ship from their suppliers, and product information is total BS. And I think I've seen that same situation with your mask where someone thought they were buying the mask in video and turned out to be a cheap knockoff.

Three are so many Etsy shops now that sell AliExpress stuff for inflated prices. I collect dolls. And so many shops now sell fake dolls, recasts that are reproduced dolls from making molds of artists dolls. And every second doll clothes shop is just selling AliExpress doll clothes for x times the original price. You gotta be careful sadly. At least it ended well in this case.

Saddly EVERYWHERE scammers are on the hunt!! I went on a cruise and it had a Facebook private group. Wouldn't you know scammers selling custom shot glasses and rubber duckies.😢 this is getting horrible!! Glad you found tge mask!! I hope you ordered that dress a sent tge link too!!

I feel like everybody in this comment section and the creator of this video should take an online literacy course. I am betting if you go to the seller and look at the shop owner, at the shop description, what's in the store etc that there are red flags everywhere. like I'm betting there was no biography, no store description, no picture and description with the owner page.... I'm betting if there were other products in the shop they were all weird drop shipping items and poorly made plastic junk or just this item. With a $200 purchase or any purchase you should probably do your due diligence and make sure what you're buying is the actual product and from the actual place that makes it unless it's some generic craapp. This mask is clearly a piece of art and probably a specialist item so you should assume that it's not going to be a mass produced thing. The reverse image search or even searching online for the facemask should've been your first idea. You would've been more likely to find a website and if you're looking at a $200 mask they probably have a nice website and specialize in making masks. If the website doesn't have graphic design or looks like it's a drop shipping website or is a half filled out template then obviously it's probably a scam. In my opinion stuff like that makes it easier to tell if something is a scam when you search for it instead of it assume that it is on Etsy. There are plenty of awesome things that don't sell on Etsy a lot of people would rather sell their things on another site that doesn't charge as much of a percentage of the profit.

You didn't get scammed then, you got your money back and the guy didn't mess you about. When you get scammed you don't get the product or you don't get your refund.

I am confused. So was the decent mask you bought $200? Then that wasn’t the scam. The $60 was the scam. I am wondering if the guy who had them tried to legitimately make them, got bad product and then tried to sell them anyway, realized that wasn’t great and left Etsy. But, you did get your money back. Usually you don’t in a scam. Maybe Etsy made them refund so much they left instead of doing more refunds.

Skull is really cool! I would put more padding in the skull inside the head instead of the jaw if that doesn't work. I just bought something from Etsy and it took the seller a little over two weeks to respond after inquiries of when item will ship , said was out of town but no notifications of any sort that I could see on his/her page. Was ready for a battle but I'm glad now that I don't have to. Sometimes a little patients works. (In my case anyway).

Yes, I have been scammed by Etsy. The worst case was in 2017. The clothes had no arm holes, and were too long on me. Plus, the jewelry was missing. Yes, I opened a case with Etsy. Etsy sided with the seller.

They have to give you a refund via Etsy’s policies. I offer refunds. Hope people know I am legit. But my items are handmade, by me. I have had the same problems with hats. People steal a $200 hat design on Etsy and try to sell it for less on Amazon, using all the same photos from the original maker…who actually hand-stitched all her hats. I know a lot of people who have gotten off Etsy’s because of their policies now. You can basically sell anything on there now. In the past, they used to have a lot of rules.
