@JB JG plant protein is incomplete. The human body is extremely inefficient at metabolizing plant-based fatty acids into a usable form.that's why a lot of vegans starve themselves of the nutrients they need to make hormones and end up self-inflicting premature menopause. The most disgusting part of it is that they justify it by saying that it's just their bodies detoxing. If your hair is falling out and your teeth are translucent there's something wrong with your diet. Try eating some meat.

Vegans are hypocrites. They completely ignore the science about what the human body is genetically programmed to metabolize as nutrition. If I had a dollar for every vegan who said it's not about the diet, it's about saving the animals, I would be rich. I am not going to ruin my physical health just to save some cow that no longer has the genes to survive in the wild due to selective breeding for agriculture. I've recently seen several KZbin videos of people who got sick on a vegan diet and immediately started getting healthy again when they started eating meat. I figure if it ain't broke don't fix it. b0o0dlesn0o0dles where is this demanding culture coming from? As a European this is just absurd to me. This is a cultural thing though. I’m not bashing America (and countries heavily influence by American culture) for this but you have to admit it’s not healthy. But I can understand where this is coming from. There are to many mega corporations being greedy. And People are angry but they forget there are people and a lot of skilled work behind products. I feel like if everyone did this, it would contribute significantly to helping the environment tbh 'cause there'd be less demand for meat meaning that less cows are bred for slaughtering and livestock may even start getting treated better and more humanely. But it would take a lot of people doing this to make this possible, and unfortunately a lot of us don't even realize that we'd have to do this collectively or else nothing'll really change

Honestly and I feel like people forget this. In some areas versus others being vegan (specifically) can be more expensive/too expensive for people to do long term. Especially if you're being a full vegan, meaning your clothes, accessories, food, shoes, and everything else that's a part of your life is vegan as well. That can be hard. And we're not even talking about allergies and possible deficiencies for some people. Like what if you're allergic to soy? I notice a lot (not all ofc) vegan alternative recipes have soy in them
@ivegottaluvlikewoe5 жыл бұрын
I'm vegan in an area that has no vegan restaurants, and it's not as difficult as you think. I dont eat organic food, bc I cant afford it. I can afford beans, legumes, rice, quinoa, pasta, and nonorganic produce. Beans are cheaper than meat. If you can prep meals you never have to worry about running out of food or buying too much and having it go to waste. Most restaurants will do a pasta with marinara or olive oil if they dont have any already vegan options on the menu. Most breakfast places that have omelets can make you a plate of potatoes topped with fajita veggies. Just call ahead and dont be a jerk and people are almost always willing to help you be comfortable and happy!

In my country people in lower economy condition basically vegan. Dairy or meat products not expensive. But to save money being vegan is a way to go.
@jayl245484 жыл бұрын
Animal products are extremely heavily subsidized in the USA. I think that it's a misconception that eating animal products is inherently less expensive because of how western countries have spent so much time and effort transforming something that is actually an extremely inefficient and wasteful industry into something that is somewhat sustainable (financially, not for the planet). Of course I won't judge someone for not going vegan if they actually can't afford it or live in an area that actually makes it impossible, but I do think that middle and upper class people in non-food-deserts should at least consider trying to cut animal products out of their diet rather than always saying that them making that decision is somehow unfair to people who can't. I actually see it the other way around: what we produce responds to what people buy, so the more people who can afford it buy this stuff, the more available healthy, animal-friendly, earth-friendly produce will be to those who currently can't. Btw this was more a response to the other replies, not to be hard on the original person from Alaska.

@XDfullmoonXD5 жыл бұрын
@@rachelloverdog Actually it would make a huge difference in terms of health. Heart disease is an endemic around the world and if more people shift towards a plant based diet that can actually be prevented. For the environment, we produce enough food to feed the whole world currently but the distribution of it is terrible. Most crops are grown to feed livestock which in return does not give back a lot of meat. That also contributes to more greenhouse gasses. It's a human rights issue with certain people having to work in slaughterhouses ( bc they have no choice). Right now it's incredibly easy to be vegan bc not many people are hunting for food, we got supermarkets. I think what we should be looking torwards is lab grown meat because that's the only future I see of ethical meat consumption.

This vid is so important because all of these folks have learned how and are now motivated to reduce meat and dairy and still feel satisfied and happy with their meals. Their behavior will in turn impact others and so on. This is the way to get people to consider a more plant-based diet--not with rigidity, but with positive and supportive experiences. Thanks for sharing this cool experiment!

Some things to say for those who are super intimidated by restricting their meat: 1. You don’t need to eat salads all the time. They’re obviously really good for you, but since going vegan I haven’t had a single salad bc I HATE them and I’ve survived lol. 2. If you want to reduce your environmental impact but don’t want to commit, do meatless mondays! It’s so much easier to commit to one or two days a week than what seems like an entire lifetime of never eating meat/dairy again. 3. If you want to reduce your meat consumption but are worried about protein intake, eat seafood instead of red meat/poultry. It’s still technically meat, but a better alternative. 4. Shop in the bulk bins for foods you’re iffy about but want to try, like legumes. Just get whatever amount you need for your recipe, no more than that. This allows you to taste them and make good food with them, but even if you end up HATING them, you’re not stuck with an entire package of them taking up room in your pantry. 5. If you’re super picky like me and don’t really like vegetables at all, I’ve found that chopping up vegetables reallyyyy small and mixing them in with whole grains does the trick, I really don’t taste them but I’m still getting the nutrients. A good example of this is TJ’s “multigrains and vegetables”. SUPER yum. 6. Try and make friends with SUPPORTIVE vegans. The ones who want to try and help you and want you to do what’s best for your body, even if that includes no meat but still consuming dairy, or being a pescatarian, or just limiting your consumption of meat in general. They’ll send you all their yum recipes & good vegan cookbooks. DONT look to the people who think that you’re the scum of the earth if you become vegan and then change your mind. They’ll make you feel like shit and honestly aren’t very nice.

Unfortunately most “compostable” plastics have to be industrially composted in order to break down & there are very few companies that can do it. These bio plastics won’t break down in landfill or the ocean & contaminate recycling.

I think it's easier to go vegetarian first and then vegan. I went vegetarian in 2007, and vegan in 2017 - I tried to go vegan before that but I was physically and mentally not in the right "space" if you know what I mean and there weren't a lot of options where I lived. But then I moved, and I tried it again two years ago and haven't had any problems since then! It was also more comfortable for me because I never really liked eggs and I'm lactose-intolerant, so there's that, lol. Some people can't go vegan, and that's completely fine. Some people don't wanna go vegan 100%, and that's also completely fine. My roommate, for example, is an omnivore but tries to eat as many vegetarian and vegan dishes as possible - like maybe one meat and one fish dish during the week, oat milk instead of cow's milk, and so on. They don't force themself, and I think that's really important. You have to do it with your whole heart and not just because someone told you to. But you should try to be aware of what you eat and how it impacts yourself and everything around you.

They make it look so easy to switch, because they live in Los Angeles & New York where vegan options and places are abundant and most of them had at least a decent diet before they tried it, and all of them get paid well. However, if you do not have the finances and don't live in an area that has easy access to vegan options, you end up eating the same thing all the time and get bored QUICKLY, and if your lifestyle doesn't easily support switching, this CAN be incredibly difficult, though of course not impossible.

Despite enjoying the taste of meat and other animal products, the level of detriment that eating them causes to the planet and the environment wholly outweighs any enjoyment that i might get for a few seconds when eating them. The welfare of the planet is so much more important. I think many people need educating on a vegan diet and how successful they can be. You can get all nutrients from a plant based diet, and I appreciate tasty raising this and creating awareness. I'm glad the people at tasty were open to this, and that buzzfeed are actually using their platform to try and educate their viewers, both about the environmental benefits to being vegan, and that its not that hard to eliminate animal products from your diet. Cutting it out all together may not suit everyone, but actively reducing consumption is a fantastic first step.

I believe that a vegan diet or any other restricted diet is not for everyone. If a person LOVES meat, they would suffer as a vegan, if a person loves vegetables, they'd probably do well. Being vegan for all your life is not for everyone, actually very few people thrive on it.
@TheHestya5 жыл бұрын
Most people more than thrive on it. 5 plant based youtubers do not make up the majority of vegans of the world. Vegan diet is not restrictive. No meat, dairy, eggs and a few ingredients no one can pronounce that no one should be eating in the first place. I've eaten so many things I had never even seen since going vegan. Every vegan will tell you the same thing. It opens up more options than you can imagine. I bet right now you have like maybe 4 go-to meals that you eat on a daily basis, that's it. Very varied.
@jessicaa36415 жыл бұрын
The majority of emissions are coming from factories and cars. Only 8% of emissions in the US come from agriculture and that includes vegetable farming! If you wanted to make your diet "greener" it is more effective to buy local produce and meat than just cutting out meat.

I really love the message of this video but I think we have to take into account that they’re in NYC and that they have significantly more vegan options in restaurants and grocery stores compared to someone like me who is from rural ohio. Therefore they had a much easier time making the transition into going vegan for a week. Most of the time my grocery stores barely carry vegan cheese / meet substitutes. I also really wish they did a cost comparison.

I really like that you ended up buying them good vegan food because when most people hear about veganism they think veggies, tofu, vegan substitutes, and rice, but there are so may different things that are completely unique. You'd never find some foods unless you explored beyond the typical american diet. Fun fact: you can make any meal that you love and still make it vegan. Just take out the meat and dairy. Replace it with beans, lentils, edemame, tempeh, coconut or oat milk, and make vegan eggs with ground flax and water. Super easy and you don't even have to worry about fully cooking everything because there isn't any meat to make you sick

@eivind2610935 жыл бұрын
Well, that would be the difference between veganism and vegetarianism. If you eat any sort of animal based product, such as cheese or milk, it's not vegan. This also goes for products such as honey, for obvious reasons, and technically a lot of vegetables, nuts and fruits like avocados, almonds, etc, which are mostly commercially produced using migratory beekeeping. I'm guessing also animal based clothing - leather, fur, presumably wool, etc. It's up to you if you want to go for a mostly vegan-based diet, but include cheese... but using any dairy product in your diet makes it a vegetarian diet, rather than vegan, no matter how vegan the non-cheese parts of your diet are. Personally, I'm not going to cut meat or animal products completely from my diet. However, I don't eat THAT much meat to begin with, and I have no issues cutting down a bit.
