tip - when cutting threaded rod, wind on two nuts and tighten them together at the point where you want to make the cut. run your hacksaw against the nut. the result will be that you won't damage the thread. works every time!

Matt that chair is a fantastic addition to the workshop and I think probably a very underestimated feature because it's a great thinking space for thinking through a project and what to do next. I think much better when I am sitting down and relaxed and the workshop with all your tools around you is a great place to do this. I actually heard a difference in your sound after you had put some of the acoustic panels on. I can't believe just how simple they were to install. So simple and so clever. I just love how real to life your videos are. You record them showing the mistakes or situations that just occur in real life. You are an inspiration us who have small workshops. Thanks for the video. Take care. 😊

Thanks Matt, you had me worried there for a moment when you started telling the story of your accident in the workshop, I was immediately checking out your digit count, relieved to hear it was just the microphone ! My pillar drill has a couple of pieces of flexible sealing strip inside the pulley cover which helps to dampen any vibration and rattles !

That sounds like a good idea. I will add some strips to the drill

Hi Matt, Simple fixes in the workshop can make a big difference's, shame about your little accident with your microphone. Yes those sound panels has made a difference in the sound that can be ticked of the list. Always handy to have a chair in the workshop if you got the room, I've got an old plastic patio chair in mine, there is nothing nicer after making some thing and having a sit down to look at what you made, especially on a rainy day. Catch you soon Take care

Quick tip. Cutting threaded studding, or shortening a bolt, put a correct size nut or two on first. Then cut above the nuts and unscrew, cleans the thread. Enjoy the improvements

A wooden sound defuser panel will do more than all of that lot. Also they look great and are easy to make

Think you may need to build an extension to the workshop, running out of space to do big projects.

Is that the Sony 16-35 Cinema lens? I’ve got a bunch of those large sound panels from my old studio. I keep thinking about getting them in the workshop but they’re black and I’m convinced will look rubbish, but you never know!
