The Volvo V70 1.6 diesel engine is the Peugeot 1.6 diesel engine. A friend of mine has had one for 5 years and it is 2013. She regularly takes her V70 1.6 diesel automatic on long journeys and it has never let her down. She normally keeps her cars until they are ten years old but she is so happy with it that she is going to hold onto it. I would repair that Peugeot as I think those 1.6 diesels are an extremely good car
@EnglishTMTB27 күн бұрын
On the flipside... Had that engine in a different Volvo (C30) and it was an awful engine to own - regularly problematic, threw up lots of unwelcome bills and generally became such a pita to own that I scrapped it at around 135k miles, it wasn't worth repairing. On some Pugs, you get that 1.6HDI without DPF (putting out 90-ish horsepower) are pretty solid - my mother has one, and despite neglect bordering on negligence it just keeps on going. But the DPF implementation on the higher output version of that engine was horrible - regular expense with replacements required every 75k approx. My S80 with the D5 cost no more to run (despite much higher tax and significantly lower mpg)... Over around 100k miles each (at 35k+ per year) the S80 cost no more to run, whilst sounding much nicer, having far more power and being a heavier car more suited to long distance cruising. Now ok, the Volvo 5-pots are a top tier diesel engine, but that contrast was striking to me - made even moreso by the fact I took that S80 from 105-200k without anything beyond routine maintenance required (and only changed it because the newer version of the same gives better economy, more power and far lower tax). I'd never buy another Volvo with that 1.6D engine... I would, and did, buy another D5.

Hyundai 12 months warranty, full service history from Hyundai it was a car from a person who retired from that garage and he gone got 2024 i20 as it did have private plates i know what i gone on to, only just clocked over to 53k 2015, the wheels were refurbished so like new, rear arch had slight scrape so paint work has been done and looks great, drives like a new car for 6800£ what not bad as ive seen them come and go on autotrader and some were 800£ more and wheels were not done. engine i know well now as last gen 1 had same engine and chain and tension should be done at around 100k as they can fail at 100k plus so i change it near the 100k just for peace of mind and it great for many more miles and do everything i can to protect it from rust as Hyundai and kia do like rust so protect before it starts as i plan keeping the car a long time. over all i think 6800£ was not a bad price, same age car 5 years ago would been far better but current prices i think its not bad esp from a main dealer and its history and work done on it

The last was a ml320 as my back and legs went so easier to get in, as you can see I have not driven for a while and at the moment it might be possible again after eye surgery but more importantly a spine operation bearing in mind I’ve had 2 cervical spine surgeries already. Hopefully I can get back in a car of these calibre even if it costs me the earth with the laws in place in London where I live and about. Even if it’s just for a few months, I’d love to have the experience again, sadly I won’t be back on a bike as my legs would not hold it, I’m sorry for the essay but the bike was when I knew something wrong because I needed to stop quick at traffic lights and I nearly dropped it, my lovely CBR1000r I would not go out on something I could manage because it would not be the same, unless I get a Yamaha virago trike. My 1999 Nissan Maxima has done 257,000km, of which (as 3rd owner) I have done 157,000. Had new alternator, starter motor and radiator over the 17 years I have owned it. Been a great car (V6, 3-stage auto) and does 8.5 litres/100km (approximately 33 MPG) on the open road even with the aircon going. Not so efficient round town! It has passed all but two six-monthly WoF’s (MOT to you) both fails were drivers seat belt frayed and damaged rear light cluster, both easily fixed with parts from the wreckers. Bet you don’t do that in UK! Always serviced correctly, and new tyres every 55,000km. Like the car so much, will keep it. A similar vehicle to replace would cost $NZ25,000.00, well out of my ability to pay. Such a waste chucking away good vehicles. The secret to longevity is how you drive and regular servicing, I am aware many people just pour petrol in the back and drive!

The mileage is a bit too low on that N47 for my liking. For the age, that’s clearly been driving a lot of town miles and barely seen any on the motorway, which is terrible for diesels, and even worse for the timing chain with the N47 in it.
@ChopsGarageАй бұрын
Well is has been doing low miles on it for 11 years with no issues yet. Last timing chain had go on one was same age with 80k on it. Double the miles.

I've just traded my 2018 of the same car with 41k miles, 90% of those would be rural or motorway, rarely did a journey of less than 10 miles.

If i didn't need an awd drive vehicle living on a very steep rural lane, the bmw would be of great interest. It's an absolutely superb car and a great specification.

No lane warning, no heated steering wheel, can’t see a reversing camera, no sunroof, no electric adjustable seats. How is it great spec?
@paulf2529Ай бұрын
@ryanb4046 Personally lane warning and heated steering wheel are not features I find essential. I do like electric adjust seats, though.

If clutch is really bad get a solid flywheel conversion, 230 quid, you want to be at 250 trade fitting, mot, not usually bad on 308,they don't really rust, check it, look at last year's advisories, then it's a handy diesel estate, late teens then over there, 800 quid in it for you without going mad, many options for you, don't get all main dealer tho and trade it off for 300 quid, you don't have to go crazy on cheapies, plenty of reasonable buyers at the right price, p ex sold to clear, welcome to do any checks, warranty?, sorry no, it's just a cheap car.

My 2005 BMW 330i with 106K has an interior better than that 320d tourer. The exterior is fine but the seats are saggy and the rear has been used pretty extensively. I prefer mine and it's cost me an average £1.30 a day in depreciation since I bought it in 2009 and it still has outstanding performance, handling and reliability.

I don't understand James, with one hand you say that the Peugeot would only give you around £500 profit which isn't worth it, then followed that the Merc is giving just £350 profit which appeared to be worth it, so now I'm totally confused!

Would a 2010 car have the 16v or newer 8v engine? I know my Volvo with the 8v engine has a single flywheel, not sure about the old engine.
@TrevorBuickАй бұрын
@@chrisburn7178 I believe 16v, and the DMF is on the high output 110, with the six speed box only

@@TrevorBuick If it follows the pattern of the Volvos, the 6-speed box only came with the newer 8v engine (higher output) but it may be different on other PSA models.

You allow £400 which is kinda scrap ish money and punt it into the trade at £750 drive away . Or tel the customer you fix the faults and it’s worth more money

If you change it to a solid flywheel conversion they are much cheaper. Airbag might just be a steering wheel clock ring If they plug it in it will tell them the air bag fault. I bet lots of people will buy it off you for £300 bargain scrap money.

@@ChrisPatrick-q6k at the mot station last week they'd just fitted a turbo to one, it only lasted a mth, they'd put a new pipe on is as well, I suggested they check the actual oil pressure, I've got a belingo in and a 177k it's fine, the other mth tho had one in at 120k and oil pressure light came on when it was hot, done plenty of dpf, s, injectors, turbos on that engine, so no it's not a great engine.
