You have to go through this nightmare to understand. I have cancer for the third time. This definitely being the worse 8 months of my life. Between the pain and the nausea I don’t know what’s worse, probably not eating, I think about food and i throw up. People tell me all the time, you have to make and effort and eat something, its not like that, throwing up for whole week, it’s not fun. It’s definitely a torture.

G. So sorry you’re going thru this. I totally understand the complete lack of appetite. Putting one bite in the mouth and gagging. I had that when I had cancer treatment. After treatment ended and my tastebuds came back I regained (too much) my appetite. Well, this is about you. If only people could swap appetites for a while… Please talk to your doctor. They probably can help you. You are not alone, G. We may not know you personally, but there are so many of us who care about you.

He said that he's had this problem for a year and the doctors can't do anything about it. So strange, it really sounds like they're doing the bare minimum for this guy.

I can totally relate. I’m in hospice now and I have almost zero appetite. It seems what I can eat without being totally grossed out is sweet stuff. Cookies, cake, ice cream, toast etc, and then only a little bit. If I could just stop eating without any negative effects, that’s what I’d do. And I’m a huge foodie and loved cooking. I cannot eat any kind of meat, vegetables or even fruit any more. I try not to let it upset me anymore. The last 2 weeks I’ve been able to eat a particular type of cheese, a wee break from sugar! I’d suggest not putting so much pressure on yourself and just do the best you can.

I feel ya dude. When I had gallbladder issues- it hurt...so I did not. My surgeon said- how do you feel. I said great! He said did you eat today. NOPE. Yesterday? Nope. Hmmm. This week? Nope. OK- I will schedule surgery for tomorrow. Now I eat! No more pain- or at least much less. Avoid Oxalates people- Almonds, Spinach, etc. That is what killed mine. They bind with calcium and make stones- kidney, gallbladder, in the joints, etc. If it matters to you- you are looking good all things considered. You are a rock star. Keep going! Love your honesty.

A bitter taste in the back of your mouth can also be liver issues. If you still have the itchy skin you really need to check in with your oncologist.

The doctors should have a list of the most caloric foods a person can swallow. Like a Pat of butter 🟰100 calories. Peanut butter per one tbsp 🟰100 calories. Extra virgin Coconut 1 tablespoon 🟰 125 calories you can sneak in a cup of coffee and it tastes great! Nuts and Dried fruits are very dense and caloric. Anything that takes little effort. ❤. I am praying for you G.

Me again: what about foods that you don't have to put any effort into? Like, peanut butter. Eaten off a spoon. No bread needed. Canned sardines. Things like that. Crackers!! Foods that are good to go at the ready. No cooking involved. Even dry cereal. Straight from the box. Nuts!! All sorts of nuts and seeds. Good luck 😊

Found online (medical website): Abstract Healthcare professionals are frequently asked about the benefits of cannabis for appetite or anorexia-cachexia syndrome. In popular culture, cannabis has a reputation of causing an increased hunger, slang termed “the munchies,” so many patients consume this with the hope that it may improve the loss of appetite associated with serious illness such as cancer. There have only been a few randomized, controlled trials studying the controversial question as to if cannabis improves appetite. These studies are small and show no statistically significant benefit for appetite and one small study showed improvement of taste for foods. Due to regulation barriers, the studies have use synthetic products, not the products that represent what is more commonly used in the population, often whole flower smoked, vaporized or oral products. Despite the popularity of cannabis in culture, often touted as a panacea for all maladies, the evidence and education for several adverse effects and potential drug interactions have has yet to catch up with the cultural craze.

Get hospice, they can help you with your issues. Geeze, don't suffer in pain by yourself. Try national shakes, boost, ensure there are several good brands. Can't continue to watch if you won't reach out for the help that is out there.

Our bodies tend to do what they need to do. If you don't want to eat, don't. You're incurable. There's really not a lot you can do to make your situation worse. Maybe, maybe you've just gotten to a point where eating is just not something you're willing to do. Have them put in an ng tube for tube feeds or leave it and let nature take its course.

I know that this seems obvious but, what about your very favorite foods of the past? Rather they are suppose to be that nutritious or not! Like, snacks or steak, fried foods, ice cream, etc? On KZbin I'm following a guy who says he lost a hundred pounds by not eating " enriched foods" he claims that enriched foods; which many processed foods are, contribute to weight gain. He's written a book about that. Also, artificial flavors. Smh. I never, ever, thought I'd be advising someone to eat a bit unhealthy. But, in your case it just might help?? Eat what you once enjoyed. Don't worry about calories, etc. Like, the pumpkin pie you enjoyed around Halloween. If you like fried foods? Pasta, etc, eat it. Even potato chips, and so forth. Eat high calorie foods. You need to eat and to put on weight. Praying for you and your family❤
@Alma_Kane17 күн бұрын
Why would someone eat junk food when there are a lot of calorie-dense foods that are both delicious and healthy? A sick person needs nutrition, not empty calories and inflammatory foods. Avocado, peanut butter, nuts, dried fruits, eggs are just e few examples. His problem is he can no longer eat any food due to cachexia, even the food he used to like.
