This is a great video, you're good at this! I was pretty surprised to see how small your channel was given how thoughtful you are and how comfortable you seem in front of a camera/telling a story. I'm a college senior, and if I had any leverage in the job market, I don't think I would use it to get more money, I think I'd get an easier going work life!

Thank you so much! My growth has probably been hurt by the fact that I’ve changed what I talk about numerous times. KZbin likes niches. My interests shift. 🤷♂️ And way to go with having that mindset. I’ve got two book recommendations for you: Your Money or Your Life; and Simple Path to Wealth. I think you’ll find some value in them. I’d read them in that order. Overlapping information but presented differently. Wishing you the best!

I have been making the same observations in my own life. I grew up with maps on my wall, flipping through my grandparents’ national geographic, reading stories of far off lands. I even minored in geography in college due to my fascination with “place.” But as I get older (in my 50’s), I am less interested in seeing the Taj Majal, the Sydney Opera House or Everest Base Camp. I get a lot of joy from being with my family, being with my thoughts, reading, writing and working. I also realize I won’t see it all, and that there is an emotional cost to FOMO.

The realization that I won't see it all as really tampered my drive to travel, especially the more superficial type of travel that collects "places" and checks destinations off a list. I'd much rather take a few trips of a lifetime, that are longer in duration and provide a chance to know the place better. Wishing you the best!

Just sounds like you’re describing your joy of having built a good, stable home life that you aren’t trying to escape. You’re doing it man 👍🏻

My partner thinks exactly the same as you. He has said he doesn’t need to travel to realise how fortunate and beautiful our country is

Since moving back to my home state, I have found so much to see and do close to home. Plus, I’ve always enjoyed slow travel and getting to know a place. What better place to know intimately than your home country.

If your life is so good as if you are on vacation, and you don’t feel the need to explore, then enjoy your life, what is there else to say…

I know that is true and I agree, but it just sits funny with me. I guess I’m holding on to a go, go, go mindset. Feeling content almost feels wrong in a society that tells to keep pushing, acquiring, and doing.
