I just upgraded from a 2018 Mustang EcoBoost to a 2022 Mustang GT. I am absolutely in love with my GT for OBVIOUS reasons, but man... the EcoBoost was a fun car, loved it very much. The 310HP was nothing to scoff at, it felt QUICK and the torque was nice. And I was getting 24MPG Hwy/city which was GREAT. Its such a solid car, and if anyone ever thinks about getting one, I will always recommend it. You lose out on the sound of a naturally aspirated V8, but it still FEELS nice, and honestly, I do love the turbo whistle and opening the blowoff valve and getting that "WOOSH" sound was so so so satisfying. A different kind of satisfying from the roaring engine of a V8. EcoBoosts are awesome.

You can pick up a 2019 ecoboost brand new for $23k or less right now. A new civic hatchback is $21k. People aren't seeing this car for what it is. The ecoboost is the daily driver that saves your v8 from high mileage. The v8 is the weekend warrior. You mod the v8, you daily beat the stock ecoboost. This thing is amazing. Handling and acceleration when needed to get out of sticky situations, amazing mpg even when beating on it, and overall the better looking car that has a 4cyl in it. Drive one for a daily, and drive it 100 miles a day. I promise you'll fall in love with the EcoBoost. I know I have. Do not mod the EcoBoost engine though. Leave it alone. Let it do its daily responsibilities. You can change out exhaust, wheels, suspension, bodywork, etc, but leave the engine alone. Keep in mind this is your daily. She is your guardian. She protects your weekend warrior who is modded out and 500+ hp.

I appreciate your analysis of the EB Mustang. I have had one nearly 5 years (‘15), and the only non V8 I have ever owned (9 total). Guess what? It’s also the best one I ever owned and that includes an ‘04 SVT Cobra, and ‘17 GT 350. Why? You failed to mention that it’s the lightest motor Mustang and when combined with the Performance Package (that includes 4 piston front brakes); handling that is decidedly non Mustang in terms of turn in and fast transitions, yes better than a GT350 IMO. I think the motor will be just as durable (stock) as any V8, why? Because it uses a very stout 5 main bearing bottom end (same as a V8) and it actually has a lower redline than the Coyote V8 and shorter piston stroke. The real beauty of the EB is the street fun torque curve down low, and my average of 24 MPG. It honestly never fails to put a grin on my face. EB PP!

Right here, folks... Had a '19 with the PP since last May and it's close to 20K on the odo - and that's allll just weekends and holidays. "on rails" would be an accurate depiction of how she handles. I'm sure the 20 or so damn deer that are still alive appreciate the breaking power as well, but I digress.

All I know is that the two people I know who have Ecoboost engines have had nothing but troubles with them. One rode in my old 2004 350Z and got rid of his mustang and bought a used Z. He loves the 370Z he bought. His Mustang had head gasket failure at like 30K miles and the other guy I know had similar issues at a little over 40K miles. Scotty is correct. These new automatic transmissions are a LOT quicker then a manual car unless you are some professional driver with split second reflexes. Where a manual shines is on a road course. BUt for 0-60, the new automatics are quicker.

Hey, Scotty, love your videos! I have a 2015 Ecoboost Mustang that I took to the drag strip to see how those 310 ponies performed. Best run was 14.289 seconds at 96 mph. BUT, I paddle shifted it at just 5000 RPM. When I let the computer shift it, the points were 6500 and it ran 2 MPH less and a full 15 hundreds of a second SLOWER in ET. Conclusion, it ain't revving any higher, actually lower than the 5.0 GT! Keep up the good work, buddy!

My first car was a White, 1974 Mustang II with the 2.3L engine and, you're right, it couldn't go uphill very well but, it was a Mustang and I loved that car. It had after-market chrome-slotted mags on it and being a 18 year-old, I ran that thing into the ground! Fast-forward to 2015 and I bought a beautiful, Atlantic Blue Metallic, 1998 Mustang GT 4.6L and it is my daily driver! I bought it with 20" Strada Pistole chrome wheels and love the crap out of it! I rebuilt the suspension and lowered it an inch and a half, added inch and a half rear-wheel spacers, big brakes, replaced the water pump, intake manifold, radiator, fuel pump, head light upgrade and now it's a beast of a Mustang! So easy to work on! I'm dreaming of a 2017 GT but, it might be awhile until the prices go down!

I have both, a 98 corolla and a 98 prizm. The air conditioning unit on the prizm is crap. Differential needs extra service as the Toyota's is part of the transmission fluid service. No sway bar links, does not handle as well. They are both close to 200.000 miles, but the prizm always needs something fixed that the corolla needs not. Just small stuff though you can do yourself, like a Blower Motor Resistor behind the glove compartment, burned out dash lights, etc.

I bought '12 gti and loved up until the clutch pad went out (partly do to the tune upgrade). At 300ftlb of torque it went through 3 total in 2 years. people even tell you that the clutch commonly goes out 15k miles later after your first tune, that is only adding 75ftlbs of torque. Wife had a '13 that had the water pump replaced twice. Both were very fun cars, but for the price, they were just front wheel drive cars with a turbo and a very nice steering wheel (which the auto industry has started to copy). My son has a STI focus that he paid about 8k less for and has put about 3500 into tunes and what not. He's pushing 450ftlbs of torque and the focus runs great AND the clutch is not giving up any time soon.

I had a standard transmission, so I did not have a a problem with power. I also had a 1981 Mustang with one in it and an automatic. It was a dog as Scotty commented.
