I lasered my baby’s face to help huge birthmark

A mum has revealed she gets trolled online and called a “monster” for choosing to laser her baby’s large facial birthmark - and says it’s to help her child.
Brooke Atkins, 33, a stay-at-home mum from the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, and partner Kewene Wallace, 27, have two children together - their daughter Amarni, 2, and their six-month-old baby boy, Kingsley.
After welcoming Kingsley in January, the family realised there was a large mark covering half of his face - identified as a port wine stain.
Port-wine stain birthmarks are usually harmless, but if on the face - particularly over the eye - it can be linked to glaucoma and a rare neurological disorder called Sturge Weber Syndrome.
Sturge-Weber syndrome causes seizures and other disabilities, while glaucoma effects vision and can cause blindness.
Sadly, Kingsley was diagnosed with both.

Baby is a soldier! I’m proud of mom and daddy going forward with it and recognizing the dangers of not taking action now! As a parent myself I’d of done it just as fast also! I’m glad lil baby looks like he/she is doing great!

I have the same birthmark on my right hand and it covered my ring and pinky finger entirely. When I was a kid other kids said eww don’t touch me with your rash fingers. But I didn’t let it bother me. 😢 Do whatever you think is best for your beautiful child!

It's working! I didn't even know they could be removed. I think it's better to do it early anyways so they don't remember in case it hurts to do it. I'm not judging you mom.looks to me like you care how your little one will feel about their looks when they get older. Baby is very cute any ways❤❤❤❤

I don’t know why anyone would give you a hard time about this. Laser has been around a long time and is relatively low risk. People don’t even blink at cutting their sons penis which is entirely vain cosmetic procedure where as this is gonna allow him to be confident. Not everyone likes a cut penis. But everyone wants a face that has normal even coloring. Any woman criticizing you, you should tell her to stop wearing make up if it’s so wrong to want an even skin tone.
