When I was in school I had a Brown Tarantula (Aphonopelma hentzi) get out in my bedroom. Moved everything out into the living room. Searched everywhere and everything. Didn’t find her until 6 months later, she was walking across the floor. My mother would stuff towels along the bottom of my door while I was away 😂.

You just made my day..😂I thought I'm the only one forgetting to close an enclosure.I added more soringtails to two.bioactive enclosures and got distracted by a third which showed interesting behavior and forgot to put the lid back for the suntiger and went out.I came back in the morning and found the lid next to the enclosure..Thankfully she hadn't left and I could see a leg at the end at the bottom of her bark through the webing.Lesson learnt 🙄

You could make your life a bit easier if you use covers for your EURO-Boxes (the gray ones at the bottom). Those are readily available and click into the 4 openings at the top. Then put tape on the inside of the side openings for the hands and it should be completely sealed. There is a bit wiggle room in the cover, but that shouldn't be enough for bigger spiders. For smaller you could use sealing tape, to make a tighter fit. Then at least you wouldn't have problems with spiders in the box - as well as unwanted pests and dust.

You could redesign the door retaining pin to have a onesided diagonal. That way, when simply pushing the door to close it, the notch will push the door up and it fall into place shut.

I had an escapee juvenile B. Emilia who managed to leave the room, cross the corridor and slip into closet in my bedroom in about 2,5 hours. In the closet he climbed to the very top shelf and hang out there for almost 2 days while my husband and me were actively searching for him. The funniest part was checking every shoe, jacket sleeve and pockets (we had a door to the dressing room slightly open, and that is the next room to the one where tarantula enclosure is, so we thought he could be there!).

Look up Tarantulas keeping frogs in the wild to get rid of certain pests. ..I personally believe we have not done enough studies on Tarantulas.I had several over the years I engaged with a lot and their behaviour was/is like that of any mama tbh..While the ones I did not engage with behave/d like the majority.(They have also different characters).

There are new worlds who act like old worlds, and old worlds who act like new worlds, saw that many times. Despite having so much off spring, all of them have their own personality.

This video makes me wonder, in the wild do tarantulas continually make new homes for themselves as they forage and explore? Or do they have a “home base” of sorts that they keep returning to for a time? In other words, would your escaped tarantula have returned to its enclosure if it could? Or was it happy to just create a new home where it started to web?

Had the same experience few days ago with my mexican red knee 😂… left the lid open as i wanted to get rid of the humidity…wen i went back to check she was gone! I felt chills goong down my back 😅😅😅…couldnt find her anywhere…lastly I checked a rucksack that was on the floor. She was all curled up inside one of the pockets 😂 took her out and back into the enclosure. I was lucky my Belgian Malinois dog didnt see her before me 🤦🏽‍♀️😩😩😱

This reminds me of the time my crested gecko got out, the first night I thought I'd use bait to draw him out so I duct taped a banana to the ceiling that plan didn't work but I found him on the second night hiding behind some of my flags on the wall.

Really glad you found her. Wouldn't she have butt stamped her way around or does that webbing not stick so well and comes off? Also for the leak, tack some string (natural fibre) where the water is leaking and drop the other end into the "filter". Make sure the string doesn't touch anything else or you will end up wicking the water onto the floor again. :)

That pipe under the junglearrium, the leak no doubt is in the exeact point in the bend is in the pipe, wrap some ptfe tape around that point plust 3 ridges either way, also the base of the junglearrium where the leak is get anytype water resistant filler or anything like that, fill the gaps that you can see, always think outside the box, also try to find a motion sensor alarm face across each enclosure, so you know when the laser beam- receiver sensor , if the beam gets a gap/ broken within the connection, you will know then by receiving a text alert to let you know, so then you have no resaon to panic, as you would receive knowlege of said escape within 3minutes of the breakout, if there is nothing of that type, these are my words bu comment, so if you or anyone takes this idea, i want to receive 45% royalties of any sales or future investment, think of a burglar alarm but for poisons escapees, a senson + Receiver than can by turned by a switch
