Not sure how towing a 4,000 lb trailer with a Bronco that's rated for 3500 lbs can be good for the longevity of the vehicle, and I'm surprised TFL didn't call that out, as they are usually sticklers on tow capacity. Something to keep in mind for anyone else thinking about this combo.

We just got back from Alaska as well ...towing a 35ft bunkhouse travel travel, pulled by our 1 ton GM extended passenger van. We went all over Alaska, up mountain roads, partially up the Demster hwy, and boondooked all over back roads, setting up in under 10 minutes. To each their own, but I still don't know why some folks buy overpriced equipment just to use in a grossly overweight, unsafe manner. For a fraction of the cost, a traditional truck-trailer setup could have allowed for much quicker camp setups/takedowns and provided significantly more cargo carrying capacity for the rig, all without putting the road sharing public in danger. I read another comment on how the owner spent $60k on the trailer, yet avoided the measly $13 for a cat scale weigh. LoL Best comment that perfectly summed up this entire video.

@rw00372 жыл бұрын
Slightly overloading a truck a few times here or there isn't the end of the world, but idk about promoting pushing a vehicle way past its GVWR for multi-thousand mile trips like that. I feel bad for whomever buys that Bronco from him. He's overloading that thing like crazy for extended periods of time, and I guarantee it will eventually develop issues with components on the suspension, differential, joints, bearings, transmission, and anything else that has to cope with all that weight. He honestly should've spec'd out a 4Runner with a little more tow capacity or just went full size with a Sequoia, Tahoe, Expedition, etc.
@gsahookah5992 жыл бұрын
Regarding your recommendation that the guest should have went with a 4Runner instead of that Bronco to haul the trailer and all that gear; the towing capacity of a 2022 4Runner is only 5000 lbs. I promise you that UEV-490 sits as-is in this video at least 5200 lbs. That alone should be enough to stay away from the 4Runner, but to add salt for fun, the payload is approximately 1700 lbs. Subtract the 520 lbs for the tongue weight, and another 500 lbs for the hubby and wife, now you have 700 lbs of payload left, which has been fully used by the gear on top of and inside of the Bronco. So, forget about using a 4Runner in this scenario. I agree with you 100% that a full-size truck or SUV is the ONLY way to safely tow that much trailer and gear.
@perpelle2 жыл бұрын
We can't offroad in europe the way you do but damn, have have so much better towing abilities for smaller vehicles. Toyota hilux is considered a mid-size in the US and that tows 7700 pounds and can carry ~2000-2200 pounds. As we don't have the same rules regarding tongue weight a 5000 pounds trailer only pushes about 200-275 pounds on the hitch. Reliability is there. Offroad-ability, check with a 1-2" lift.

Never will understand why people buy these style of vehicles and then load them down with 10,000 LBS of crap. Just buy an AEV Ram 2500 Diesel or a Power Wagon and call it a day. Even a stock Ram 2500 4x4 is just as capable, no suspension upgrades needed, you can even put 37's on a stock Ram 2500 (although you will hit the sway bar, so may have to swap that out, but that's cheap), and it can tow any trailer you want, haul more people than that Bronco and still has a massive bed to put cargo in!
