I really like that bit of good advice at the end of the lesson and the quote " Better to have an imperfect something than a perfect nothing " . Thank you for the lesson and advice.

"better to have an imperfect something than a perfect nothin" I really like that! This is a great song. The thumb-strum sounds so good with this. I like the way you pull off and hammer on and add the pinky in there sometimes. I hope that ending lick is in the music on Patreon!!! Thanks Stu!

That's a little lick using 3rds...I show this concept in my video for "Paperback Writer" :) I have a lesson on 3rds, 6ths...if you can stop the video on each "double stop" of two notes, you'll find it!

Have just played and sang along to your rendition. Pete Seger has been one of my music heroes all my life. I received the same advice from and English writer and performer as a young man. I expect you have heard of Sidney Carter. Well you just sang the melody and I sang what for me was quite a high harmony line to the choruses. Although I say it myself, we sounded good here in my apartment in Gloucestershire. Thanks Stu,you lifted me up. I'm a Tenor Baritone these days, natural deepening of the voice with age and I didn't think I could hit those high notes anymore. Keep those videos coming I've learnt a lot in the four months since starting down this road ( bought myself a Uke for my 68th birthday ) and it's the most fun I've had in years. Inspired much.

Hey Nigel, Thats for your comment - great to hear from you. I can tell you go deep into your music. The folk process is a gift of self acceptance towards ourselves and also a willingness to give that gift to others by letting them be who they are. I know you know this...just sayin' :-). The Key for I'll Fly Away" is high on this rendition, but somehow I managed to sing it. Glad you'r having good fun playing...wishing you well, Stu

@@UkuleleZen I have always loved gospel,folk , country and blues since I was a boy. Had some old 78s of Sonny Terry and Brownie McGee and the like and just about wore them out I think. One thing I was taught as a folk singer in my teens was " Opera singers sing from the diaphragm, if you're a folk singer,you sing from the heart ". From watching people like you I am learning to take these chords and lyrics and put that heart into them. Arthritic fingers take a little longer to train to pull off and hammer on but it sure helps reduce the pain 😊

Very nice, thank you! Why don’t you have a $1 a month Patreon membership? Love you, man, but not $2 a month love! 🤣
@UkuleleZen5 жыл бұрын
Because I give double the effort in everything I do ;-) I actually would change it, but I can't - once a Patreon Page is created, the membership tiers cannot be changed without totally re-starting the page & loosing all content & contacts. I respect & appreciate everyone's needs. I think $2 is pretty fair for the quality of what I offer here and in my PDFs...Be well, Stu
@robertlyle62775 жыл бұрын
Ukulele Zen Yeah, you’re worth it. But now I’ll have to find a friend to split the $2 a month Patreon fee, and that means I’ll have to be nice for once. Oh, the stress........ 😎🌴
