I bought AC with all the DLC since it was on sale for $8, knowing nothing more than "it's a racing sim with VR support." Played it with a controller in VR for a week and bought a Moza setup. It has been the most kickass thing I've ever done with a PC, even before I got the wheel.

@@Tom--Ace yea I've tried both side by side. My mate bought one. The quest is impressive. There is still quite bit of clarity different though.. but I'm knocking the quest, the blacks are lovely. I did a early morning flight around Tokyo, it was stunning. Ohh and the pancake lenses on the quest are the best lenses I've used on any vr. I don't understand why the quest hasn't sold way more than it has. Anyone with hp reverb g2 should upgrade. The quest pro is a much better experience

Mozas software has a safety mode. I think it's hands off mode or something like that, but when the wheel goes crazy it will detect that your hands aren't on the wheel and stop it. I think it's in the Advanced settings. It works pretty good

I Don't know if anyone already mentionned it before but it is best for you to put the FFB (Force feedback) settings in your Moza software to 100% and then reduce accordingly with in-game settings. That way you get the full range of feedback and do not loose on the smaller details.

What amazes me about all of this is how good hardware has gotten for niche markets at a price that's not cheap but it's not insane either. It used to be if you wanted something really good for a market like this, it was one small company who sold the stuff at pretentious boutique prices that were 10x what it should have cost. And most of the time it wasn't nearly as good as the people making it pretended it was.

I got a Moza R9 and GS wheel (the GT-style rim) a few days ago. While the software settings for the hardware might be good, the update process soft bricked the wheel. They recommend pressing the "one click update" when you get new components, which is supposed to upgrade the firmware on each device you might have - e.g. wheel, pedals, wheel base, shifter, and so on. The problem was it started updating the GS wheel rim and the base at the same time, and the base reloaded before the wheel could finish upgrading. This caused the wheel to get stuck in upgrade mode and the fix was to enable some advanced settings and completely erase the firmware of the wheel, before upgrading again. A butt clenching process for sure. Needless to say, not the kind of experience you want to have with a near $700 AUD wheel out of the box before I'd even had a chance to use it. Everything else about using the R9, GS rim, and CRP pedals has been fantastic. I would actually recommend people get the GS rim over the formula style rim, as the display on the FSR rim only works through the pit house software, and does not support third-party telemetry apps like SimHub. Just my two cents, hope it helps someone :-)

I started watching JTC back in 2017 when I decided to get back into sim racing and needed to be updated about PC parts and how to make a good build. Now it looks like Jay is back into sim racing and racing on the same base and wheel I recently purchased. I'm loving my R9 and GS wheel in VR on iRacing. My old setup was a Fanatec CSW V2.5 with the Formula V2 wheel. It was a great setup, but this wheel has really helped with feeling for slides and being to react quicker before letting the car get sideways. The only thing I can see being better is quieter shifters. These shifters feel really good but they are pretty loud. Moza includes rubber pads to dampen the sound, but the shifters don't feel as "crisp" with them installed and the shifters have a little difficulty registering shifts and calibrating in the software, when these are installed, so I took them off. If Moza could dampen the sound reverberation inside the wheel with foam or something, I think this could help. It's a great setup though.

This is cool finally some more sim racing gear, I love sim racing its a great way to learn about setups, plus in the middle of the night you can go for a race, about the Fanatec software I have nothing, well nice to say about it, firmware updates are a problem, but in general the gear is robust as, only have killed one load cell, VR on sin is the best and it is funny you start to notice that you move the head around looking, mirrors, turn in points, maybe a video on other sim titles and the pros and cons, my current favorite is rFactor 2, with the V8 supercars and Aussie tracks. great fun Nice to hear the PSA about feedback control, got a guy at work looking to get into sim racing, I said around the 8 - 12Nm, personally I run my clubsport wheel base flat out and normally the fan runs flat out in it yo can hear it over the computer and video cards fans and all of them are normally at 100% Maybe a top down or build guide for the PC for simracers or people wanting to get into it Funny watching you guys having fun and a laugh. I've been sim racing since 1996 with the original NASCAR Racing, and online since the early Papyrus online BETA called "Hawaii". Back then we changed ISPs to get the best dial in connection with the lowest pings, and paid long distance rates to do it. I remember my first wheel, my first 3D card (Diamond Stealth Rendition card), my first set of pedals, etc. I moved from triple screens to VR several years ago, and I don't think I would enjoy going back. VR just has such a high immersion level for sim racing IMHO. My eyes are not as great as they once were, especially since I broke the big 5-0 mark a couple of years ago. I'm using the HP Reverb G2 currently, but I thought I was going to have to go back to monitors due to my eye straining. However, VR Optician prescription lenses were a game changer. I now have my eyes, no pun intended, on a Varjo Aero headset. I think a good set of pedals is probably the best upgrade you can make for sim racing. I currently use a set of HPP 3-Pedal PRX-SE which I'm still happy with, but have been thinking about upgrading. I wouldn't mind trying Simucube's ActivePedal, but that's a pretty salty price point for a pedal (singular). I'm a proud member of the iRacing 100% content owned club.

One reason why it's tough memorizing Laguna Seca in games: they don't all have the track exactly the same way.I mean if it was 2D then yeah, but since it's in 3D, it isn't. This is true for all real life tracks in games but Laguna Seca's elevation changes or how you perceive them when looking at it in each game just freaking looks different. You can go from one game thinking you have it down pat then shift to another game and the elevation changes around the corkscrew is different - the approach is steeper, the approach to the curve feels shorter* aaaaaaaaaand you just hit the tire wall. *going up and having less speed isn't how people think that works when the game simulates aerodynamics ie if it's steeper you tend to get more front end lift

We used to do nights of Drunk Forza. Same car and track for everyone. Run a time sober. Then we'd drink and check BAC with a meter and document the changes. We'd usually get better with a slight buzz and then get far worse as we went. Y'all should do that on a RTFM sometime.

The John Wick coins are pretty damned awesome! I just think it's also hilarious that the Assassins Creed logo is on them; of course, there's a lot of similarities between John Wick and Assassins Creed

Well I got that wrong. Nick’s clearly the goat 🐐. Jay and Phil you need some tuition.

So pleased you showing of sim racing in vr If your looking for a video idea we really need vr comparisons between intel and amd cpus. Lot of weird talk on reddit with very little fair fact or comparsions

Fanatic has been completely overshadowed in the mid range sim gear of late. I can't even buy Fanatec in my country without heavy import fees making it cost more than Moza. I went for Simagic, the build quality is incredible and after a year of use not a single issue and very happy with it. I want the new moza H pattern shifter, it looks so good.
