Wow, I'm 62 and at 59 I started intermittent fasting and dropped sugar and carbs. I lost 52 pounds and got off 7 daily medications, 4 which were prescription. My daily foods are no breakfast at all then 4 eggs and 4 pieces of bacon plus a protein shake for lunch. For dinner it's red meat chicken or fish and a non fried potato every day and I never eat past 6:00 PM for an 18 hour daily fast. I have gotten so use to this and it's paid off tremendously. I got into lifting weights for the first time at 59 and am still doing it. Weight lifting has gone from a need to a want. I look forward to it every day. I put the Air pods in and go to one of my daughters old bedrooms that has been converted to a gym. I'm in my own little world an hour and a half every day except Monday. I do upper body Wednesday, Friday and Saturday and lower Tuesday Thursday and Sunday making Monday my only day of rest. The diet and exercise has turned into an addiction. August will make 3 years without any soft drinks, sweet cereals and other sweets. My only cheat has been eating Birthday cake at my grandkids birthdays. Your diet sounds just about like mine.

Thank you for sharing your story! Your success ! I’ll be 56 in June! I started lifting weights at home probably when I turned into my 50’s. But when I was getting older! Was down to 160! U ran a lot ! But needed hip surgery! I actually gained my weight up to 190! The last year! I lift weights everyday! I I’ve been doing my best to increase my push-ups! My wife and I are heading to the Myrtle beach in August! So me turning 56! And where planning a beach trip! I want to that lean look..! I was making fruit smoothies with protein powder everyday… I stopped making them! I was on keto ! Eating 6 eggs everyday ! I started thinking that was too many! I’m off keto! I do high carb to low carb! Like oatmeal! Muffins! Now I’m eating either 3 or 2 eggs with egg whites!! Yea I’ve been struggling losing my weight again! I also fast! Between 18 to someday’s 24hr’s! Can you give me any suggestions?

@@geno5169 I'm in no way a fitness coach but I do have one question. Why are you eating high carbs? Carbs are what stimulates insulin the fat hormone the most. Protein stimulates insulin also but at a much lower volume. Fats basically don't stimulate insulin. A high fat, high protein low carb diet is what I shoot for. Not mentioned in my post is that I pull a 4 to 5 day fast once every 2 months. I guarantee you fasting will get the fat off of you faster than any exercise. Fasting gives you a 2000% increase in human growth hormone and produces more stem cells. I do it for that plus the autophagy that comes along with it. Good luck!

Well done! Fantastic effort sticking to it. Try Peter Attia for another view on intermittent fasting, especially at older ages might not be optimal for muscle development and retention. Take a look and see in case the data sounds reasonable but also, if you’re happy with the strategy you have then stick to jt!

fasting helps because it helps control appetite i got a fasting app on my phone love it, and yes junk of course sugar, high caloric empty foods. I also added a lot more veggies and fruits to my diet and the weight is starting to fall off. I cut out creatine that stuff made me bloat.

I dropped 50 by no bread, no alcohol. Goodbye sugar. I walk with a weighted vest for 4 miles a day and do 25 minutes on an elliptical. Dumbbells for weight training. So far so good

@@glennhoddle10 about 6 months, I think the majority of it was water weight from the alcohol. I had a drink everyday. I also began a high protein diet with low carb intake. Keto ish but I was not strict about carb intake. Not eating bread was a huge carb reduction for me

As long as you track your intake, you can cut weight by knowing the daily amount you are consuming. I eat a lot of chicken, not beef. Tuna is good, eggs, etc... but when I'm cutting I track my macros

I have been obese my whole life. I decided to eliminate all the sugar and carbohydrates for a reset and lost 65lbs in 5 months then slowly introduced more vegetables and fruit. I was basically carnivore for 5 months felt amazing and I was at my optimal weight. Diet and Exercise is the main ingredients to get fit. Discipline and consistency is the key to be the best

March 17th, I weighed 251 pounds. Today, July 2nd, my weight is 199!!! I just ate chicken, cottage cheese, tuna (light mayo), lean beef, 98%, vegetables, egg whites, and turkey bacon (higher protein ones). I lost 48 pounds in 3 months of not working out. Started my workout plan after getting my diet down so I didn't overload my brain!! I did eat low carb, high dietary fiber breads now and then. Mission makes keto friendly wraps and 647 makes low carb high dietary fiber breads

Dude, I grew up in the south as well and you can pretty much combine anything with grits, my favorite being shrimp and grits, but chicken works great as well. Great vid. Thanks man.

Thanks for this video I do basically the same kind of dieting and there's no better way of doing it with flexible dieting, keeps the weight off and keeps you lean year round and long as your in check with your macros and your food tastes good then you will only continue to stay successful and never fall off the wagon back into old habits. The protein shakes that you were talking about do they have sunflower oil in them or vegetable oil I was doing premier protein which I like the flavor of but I am trying to cut back on the sunflower oil and I noticed that they have sunflower oil. So what about the ones you use?

Pretty solid advice. Especially the point of eating foods that you like and make you happy. I love air fryer fries. What are your thoughts on sweet potatoes. I keep both on the counter. I like having the variety to keep it from getting mundane. To your list of 5 I would add broccoli and cauliflower. Another way to incorporate all these foods is in soup. Bone broth for a base and any meat and vegetables combo you want. Plus it keeps well in the fridge. Is convenient. As far as protein shakes go I only have found 1 that I can drink. Ghost chip cookies. Most taste so bad. Anyone with some recommendations to try? I really hate that protein aftertaste.

No need to over complicate life.do intermittent fasting,one meal a day ,avoid sugar at all costs,plenty water daily, sleeping at night minimum 6 hours , that's all folks.

Thats all for what?. Weight loss sure. What if someones trying to bodybuild, powerlift or Strongman? One meal a day wont cut it. For overall general health I 100% agree with you on IF and OMAD, but for actual Athletes that may not work well ALTHOUGH I have seen some well built strong muscular guys doing OMAD successfully. I have mediocre success with OMAD, somedays Im fine with it, somedays by noon Im food obsessed and I cannot stop thinking about food, but thats probably because I never let my body adjust to the schedule.

@@2119mr I guess if you wanna lose weight fast, you can fast, and only eat once a day. Sure you'll lose weight, because you're on an extreme diet. But, afterwards, most people will gain it all back because they are not gonna keep, not eating and fasting , forever. The best way to lose weight i agree ( exercise, 💦 water, sleep), but Instead of one meal a day( a healthful, well balanced , diet: veggies, lean proteins, limited( good carbs). Losing and maintaining weight, is a lifestyle, not an extreme diet .

My top five foods are steak, ground beef, salmon, eggs and chicken. I eat carbs about twice a week, have cut out most sugar. I have some whole milk each day for the calcium, will have protein shakes, also will have tuna on occasion. I love putting salsa on my eggs and ground beef. Salsa can be very healthy. I drink coffee each morning and have dandelion tea twice a day. I also take a beet root supplement. Exercise I lift about 30 minutes a day and try and get walking in each day to clear my mind.

Man I’ve been using my crockpot for months for sweet potatoes and chicken breasts or thighs. And I’m telling yall it’s easy tasty cooking. Each take 4-6 hours and the chicken shreds easily, the potatoes are mashed. Makes a bunch of preps. Tasty and easy guys try it out. Great simple video 👍🏻 PS I love me some grits too I’m from New Orleans. Also try Calrose rice guys if you’re into rice at the moment.

I dropped 55 pounds by counting calories and using a food scale. I didn’t have to restrict any foods and it’s simple to maintain once you’ve lost the weight, just increase your calories to a maintain level. It’s the best way to lose weight and to be able to make it a lifestyle. Eventually the majority of people want to reintroduce “restricted” foods back into their diet, that’s why so many fail to keep off the weight. It’s not complicated.

​@@divakim206 it's roughly a 3,500 cal deficit per pound of fat lost, so realistically, a minimum of a year probably, more realistically, probably around two years, maybe longer, depending on age etc. If in ketosis, could be faster, but that's not the case with the poster.

It’s funny bro, I’m in my late 30s as well and used to compete, still train today and enjoy it but definitely carrying too much body fat for my liking. You basically state things so simply and I’ve been going around in circles making it over complicated. At the end of the day these foods are what I used to get in shape every time, I guess I was just looking for different ways, and failing. I’d just like to say thank you for saying the obvious 💙🙏

Did you use seed oils (canola, corn oil, peanut oil, margarine, etc.)? Do you check your inflammation markers and triglycerides with your doctor? Seed oils are over-processed, racid, inflammatory, and are actually machine lubricants that someone (Crisco) decided to sell as a food years ago. Inflammation start diseases. Butter, single-sourced olive oil, pure coconut oils, MCT, tallow, etc. are bioavailable oils/fats. You can use them in moderation. And they are not inflammatory. How did your diet make you feel each day? What about hydration?

I had the same issues, bloating from beans and some veggies. I found the carnivore diet mostly red meat and fat, all my issues went away. When I cheat my symptoms come back

Juice cabbage with celery and an apple twice x day for 14 days. The cabbage will heal your leaky gut/intestines and the celery will add more hydrochloric acid into your stomach getting rid of acid reflux, burping, etc

Good to see someone not demonizing protein snacks. I eat 2 eggs and a Legendary protein roll for breakfast every single day. Lunch is always something beef related, and dinner is 2 more eggs and some keto granola. I do wish I could do without the protein roll, they're very expensive and wayyy overly processed. But it kills my sweet tooth for the rest of the day, and my god I need that to stay sane and on track.

I’m 54 I’ve lost 20 lbs in 2 months doing the carnivore diet, 20 minutes of weight lifting and 10 minutes of ab workout every morning, except Sunday, that’s my day off. Also walking about a mile everyday

Good advice thank you. I recently started the warrior/keto diet eating in just 4 hour window. I lost 12 lbs in two weeks now stalling. Great idea of making own fries you're right easy to do going to try that this weekend. Rao's just released a ketchup brand that is a bit spicy best I've ever had going to use those on it! I'm 53 already lost about 35 lbs and need 10-15 more to get abs. Workout most days in new garage gym. I don't crave alcohol nearly as much now that I'm healthier. Rucking with 45lbs has helped a lot and builds huge traps.

I’ve been eating the pre-cooked grilled or rotisserie chicken that’s bagged up and I’ll heat it up with broccoli, cauliflower and then I’ll put some avocado on top or guacamole and then I might also put some like of Chick-fil-A‘s avocado ranch dressing on it. Sometimes I’ll use zero sugar Thai chili sauce. Or zero sugar barbecue sauce. I was drinking protein shakes until the week before last but like I said, I’m trying to cut back on the sunflower and vegetable oil. And every now and then I’ll get me some steak and egg, and I also do a lot of boiled eggs. Also, I will do spicy Thai tuna, or chipotle, tuna And anytime I can get back through the house because I’m a truck driver, I’ll be doing seafood. Boiled shrimp or shrimp and grits. I’ll even treat myself and do some fried fish and cheese grits too.

I covered most of the SE for over 25 years. Even though most restaurants don’t have healthy items on the menu, if you ask they will usually oblige. Or, you can always get a grilled chicken sandwich and throw away the bun.

egg whites, chicken salad, potatoes, peas, keto bread, 35 calories a slice, lean turkey burgers. I love putting cayenne pepper on my potato and putting some shredded cheese on top, this works with peas too, small can of peas mixed with cayenne pepper and shredded cheese, is awesome. putting cayenne pepper on the potato with some Portugues sausage with some shredded cheese on top is rad

Mostly the same, for option 5 I typically do a small package of peanuts, or else a granola bar. No more than one a day. My other favourite food I add in is bacon. I like to only eat from 12:00-6:00pm, at noon I often like to make bacon and eggs wraps. Steak and egg wraps for lunch or supper, also. I throw some steak spice in my scrambled eggs, makes em better. Be sure to take a multivitamin too!

Most days I fast 14-16 hours including sleep. Once a month I do a longer fast of 24-36 hours.

@@JosiahFitness thanks man. Do you remember what your macro split was, protein carbs fats Etc, for only fasting for 14 to 16 hours a day seems like you lost weight pretty consistently and fast. I mean it's like some people struggle so much but you really didn't.

When I get serious about getting lean, I eat mostly boiled chicken. Nothing fancy, just boiled with some salt and a dash of olive oil in the water. Cod is also a staple you can't go wrong with.
