Such a beautiful song, so tender and simple. This is best version of it.

How could we not love this song and the fact that these people fell in love while filming this movie. We can SEE THEIR LOVE! They had a daughter together.

The definitive rendition of this song. The fact that THEY'RE NOT ACTING gives it the necessary passion.

I'm a big fan of "Letter To Juliet", which is how I found out these 2 were married in real life. I haven't seen this film, but seeing them acting together, and very in love, warms my heart and makes it all the more beautiful.

Julie Andrews has a great voice, but this fragile version is my favorite. It is sincere.

Lovely song and a prelude to their doomed love. Although Lancelot is more beautiful than Guinevere.

I saw this in '69. Sometimes I just want to go back to that time. I was so naïve, very confused, and happy at the same time. Oh, if this county could be Camelot once again, but hate and racism have re-emerged.

It's funny, Vanessa Redgrave doesn't have a very strong voice, yet this version always brings me to tears while Julie Andrews leaves me cold.

@Alice Moore Vanessa Redgrave and Richard Harris both did their own singing for the film version of Camelot. Julie Andrews did not reprise her stage role in the film. You can tell it is Vanessa singing because it's warbly and not particularly well-trained, but as I said above, that is why I like it here. The Julie Andrews recording is like clear crystal, and just as cold. Andrews was certainly the superior singer, but Redgrave the superior actress. What was needed in this scene was convincing heartbreak, and that's what Vanessa delivers.

@@Vesnicie Yeah I heard that they actually don't use original sound in situations like this because it's hard to properly record the sound or other reasons, and actors/actresses would record their singing separately and put it back by editing.
@Vesnicie5 жыл бұрын
@@frederickletterblair That's right. That's why it was sort of a big deal a few years ago when they did the Les Miz movie and actually recorded their performers within the scene, using the sound created then rather than having the actors lip-sync over a prior recording. Marni Nixon was a famous voice-over singer, who did the singing voices of such roles as Maria for Natalie Wood in West Side Story.
@federicaleuci59004 жыл бұрын
@Alice Moore that's not true, because Vanessa Redgrave herself told in her autobiography that she took singing lessons since she was young and had a long period of song rehearsing before filming. I love Vanessa and Julie deeply and for different reason, but I think that Vanessa as Gueneviere was simply perfect: humorous as required, sexy, heartfelt. Obviously her voice wasn't as Julie's one, because she wasn't a professional singer, but she played this role intensely, she wasn't cold. I think that Julie, as Gueneviere, was perfect with her singing voice, but too childish for the story. And probably, the fact that Vanessa and Franco were a couple gave much more to the scene and the movie in general.
