Matt, I think I speak for everyone in saying your transparency is honored. Hopefully, you find those little pockets of solace in , what can be, the chaos of the off-season. All around, such an exciting time for you. I'm going to sell insurance today .... you GET to go through these things BECAUSE of all the correct things you've done in life....all of the victories.....because of who you are, the player you are....the PROFESSIONAL you are. As you have stated, "that's the life" of a footballer , sometimes. If I may, dont ever come close to losing the perspective that YOURE STILL THAT GUY, and living a dream SO MANY of us would love. Walk into your blessing, Matt ... it's already been prepared for you homie. 💥💥🙏

Continuous Q n A When I see your practice sessions, things are going almost perfect, I don't see alot of mistakes in touches and technique But I practice with my teammates/friends, there are tons of mistakes happening So should we continue with those mistake or reduce the difficulty of the drill??
@shantiescovedo43612 жыл бұрын
This is an excellent question
@Michael-cb5nm2 жыл бұрын
It’s training, so you don’t want to ingrain bad habits through constant mistakes. Reduce difficulty and then ratchet it up as you get better…that way you know you are making progress.
@youtube_viewer61602 жыл бұрын
Hey, I know you’re asking Matt here, but I’ll give you my opinion if you care for it. I think you should do both. So, instead of 100% of your drills being the ones difficult for group, make that only 30% of your drills. As for the other 70%, reduce the difficulty. As your groups ability increases, gradually increase the 30% - 50% and so on

Hey Matt, I just want to say thanks for your videos. I play recreational soccer and your videos have truly helped me improve as a player. However, I just wanted to say, as a mother of 3, I know right now is so stressful because you guys don't know where you'll be when baby comes. But, a newborn just needs a place to sleep, eat and be changed. Sleeping is as easy as a travel crib or a bassinet that can be anywhere in the house that's quiet. Eating is easy, a nice armchair for both bottle feeding or breastfeeding is nice (though if Mimi decides to breastfeed, please let her know the chair is best that she can sit in it with her back against the back of the chair, and her feet on the floor for her comfort). And while a changing table is very nice, the floor with a changing pad and a diaper caddy can work. Baby doesn't need much space until she is rolling over at about 4 months, so you guys have plenty of time to figure out the living situation (and honestly, staying in Charleston may be the best option so she can keep her OB). I know Mimi is probably getting that nesting instinct pretty badly right now, but you guys will be okay. ^_^

Heyy Matt, As I soccer coach, I enjoy watching your videos a lot and often refer them to my players. Keep up the good work 💪🏽 I love these small sessions and I think they are great. Just one tip: you guys often do finishing work but it is always after a passing pattern and rarely under pressure, with opposition, and in a game context. I think adding some 3v3s + gks with big nets (to promote finishing) or some type of drill that involved active playing, decision making, teammates, and under opposition, would make these finishing more realistic and beneficial. I strongly recommend you to try it. Once again keep up the good work and good luck with finding a team 💪🏽💪🏽

If he never found another team, you’d still say that it was all in God’s plan. So basically, any outcome whatsoever, no matter how awful, is consistent with “God’s plan”. Which makes the whole concept a bit meaningless.

@magamaga18272 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear this, Matt, but as you say it's just part of the biz. Clearly you weren't part of the problem the team had...but if they don't think you're part of the solution, screw em! You'll catch on somewhere. But I have to say, I do wonder if players your age (a little older) with kids (or kids coming) start to think more about life after playing - because as you see, it's not just about you anymore. Life happens. I'd love to see you get a big time college coaching job someday because I think you'd be great with teaching kids that age and skill level and helping them move on. And you prob could make decent money. But you eventually have to start down that path sooner or later. I think of Coach Dave Masur at St. Johns in NY. He took over the program at around your age (maybe 27/28) - which to me seemed "old" at that time..lol...but after his playing career sort of prob hit its ceiling (no MLS back then), he carved out a great career as a big time D1 coach all these years later and I'm sure does well financially.
