“The revolution will not be televised” ❤🎉 Restructuring your business and getting off social media is a huge step from the level of success you’ve created. I hope it inspires others to do the same and remember that we’re actually human. Switching to podcasts, email newsletters, and KZbin etc sounds like a welcome change….and I celebrate you for that. For me personally it’s been a great lesson in self trust….trusting our voice/services will reach those who need to hear it. Glad you’re taking the leap of faith. ❤

Thank you so much for this! I’ve been an industry leader in my area of expertise for over 20 years and the pressure I feel to put content on Instagram to “be seen” consumes my time and causes negative energy. Hearing this podcast just gave me permission to let it go! It’s not how I built my business and I know God will continue to honor me with or without using Instagram as a platform to promote my business!

Mark, I have so much much respect and admiration for you, I am clapping from the sidelines as I watch a true leader with integrity step into his place. I am 66 and have had careers in fields dominated by men. Insurance, politics and martial arts. I have seen a whole lot of bluster and spouting, and very little “walking the talk”. You, my friend, are the kind of leader we need right now. Thank you for setting the example of stepping up to the cliff, knowing that you will fly because your intent is love.

I came across your shorts on IG in the midst of the darkest time of my life. They were unbelievably helpful to me and got me through the worst to help create the best I am still becoming. I pre-ordered your book and will continue to follow you on whatever platform you choose to use. Your work is important and needs to be heard. Your social media may not feed you anymore, but you have fed many people along your journey. For that, I thank you. I appreciate what you have out there that literally got me through the worst period of my life. Thank you for sharing your journey with us!

Mark, thank you for being so vulnerable, open and honest. I have been feeling the same way about social media and realised how negatively it makes me feel when I come off it. I have been a follower of yours for years now but never see your content and had to search for your account the other day as thought you must have come off it already. But you were there and the posts were amazing, it's just a shame people have to hunt for the content they actually want to see and need to see. I will happily still be here for your podcasts on KZbin and glad there is still access to your messages and thoughts on here. This is why we love KZbin ❤

I have been having this feeling for a while as well. I have seen different perspectives on deleting social media come up in different areas of my life and have been reflecting on how I show up to myself and my community. I have also been exploring what it looks like to divest from harmful institutions. This podcast episode was my final spark of inspiration to make the jump. I just left TikTok and Instagram and already feel a little closer to the person I want to be. Thank you!

I feel this so much. I am actually avoiding it now as people contact you through messenger like you are always available. I have told people to email me only and to my assistants email. Some have my personal. It’s just too much. My work takes so much of my energy as I work with people and their trauma. There is only one of me. I have to always check my own co dependency and weakness to saying no or responding when someone is in need. Social media sets you up for failure actually. When you start to resent your work. Trust that your work and your joy for it will thrive regardless of social media.

Thank you for this ! I will be joining you in deleting my own IG account on June 1st. I've deactivated my account a few times over the years (anywhere from 1-6 months) and have always felt such profound liberation and freedom from not being tied to the superficial nonsense that is social media. EVERY area of my life is improved when I'm not on that silly app. Your announcement was my little nudge to delete it for good :) Thank you again for the inspiration. I feel you on this. Not to the degree of a person with a platform but just taking in so much information that we normally wouldn’t how much it weighs on you especially the heavy topics. Our lives & people we’re closest to can be overwhelming enough. I’ve spent several years off instagram & facebook. Returned this year & it doesn’t feel good. I can’t imagine what a content creator must be feeling. You’re right about the catchy songs & reels on repeat.. I like KZbin for the information we can search for as well as knowing you’re able to earn back from the effort you put into your work🩵 you’re very relatable & I support this movement. Sensitivities must be recognized & respected, they’re always rerouting us into a better place🫶🏻

So much respect and love brother. I’ve been feeling the same about everything you’re sharing here and seeing you take this leap, someone I’ve looked up to since I started my business. Gives me courage to do the same. I was emotional watching this because it does feel like an abusive relationship, one that takes and takes and no matter how hard your work you’re always behind. Thank you Mark. For always being real & true to yourself. I discovered you just before the pandemic in Feb 2020. And your podcasts got me through the hardest times. I, too, am a business owner who has recently been feeling the panic & anxiety around posting on social media. I actually made the recent connection that the reason I like it more than say, email marketing, is because I can see who is liking & commenting on my stuff. The validation through the likes. And feeling like if I don’t participate, I’ll lose everything. Ooooof. Even saying that out loud is a wow. And I am someone who HAS built my business (so far) on social media. You comparing it to a toxic relationship really resonates. As I’ve also stayed in toxic relationships in my past, to be liked or not rock the boat. And have come out of those relationships a stronger individual who is now feeling more confident in myself. But this social media dance is exactly the same. I’m considering joining you on June 1st. But I’m terrified. What’s also interesting is I just released my own Podcast in January called the Doin It Scared Podcast! lol I think it’s all leading me here. I look forward to what you do next. And also intrigued by this membership! Thanks again for always inspiring me to be ME! 🫶

brother i love this message that you've shared. i've had my ups and downs with instagram over the years, and there are days i just want to disappear from it. i also get joy out of creating and sharing my photography and writing, so it's a fine balance. about two years ago i took a major step back and understand that a majority are working for insta, and not for themselves. i started creating and sharing again when i felt the need to do so, not cause i had to keep up with the likes and engagement. these days its no surprise i get more eyes on my work from live art shows and fairs, rather than behind some screen. i remind myself daily to stay true to myself.

I have been feeling this way for a very long time. I think the conversation is very different for people who use social media for their business vs. people who use it for non business reasons. I’m happy for you in this next phase and trust its for the best. I started following you in fall of 2020 and have enjoyed your content since. Thank you for this video, it has articulated what Ive been feeling for months. As an emerging visual artist (painter) instagram has become a very toxic place for me to share and celebrate my art. I dont want to give into capitalism and be part of a broken system to be appreciated for my art, that kind of defeats the purpose of art. Much love to you and your fam. It will all be ok 😌💯

I also stopped following people, because I want to focus my energy connecting with people in the ways that we are meant to. The “feed” aspect of FB/IG just encourages toxic values and superficial connection. I do still use FB groups though because they’re great. I can totally relate to what you are saying, I am going through a very similar change in my life, so your description hits right on the spot. At the end of the day, we must follow what feels true to ourselves and our life in that moment, and I personally congratulate you because now at least you will get paid for all the content you share. It seems fair. And you will feel more aligned to yourself, and that is exactly taking your own talks into action. Coherence. Thank you.
