Let me remind y’all. Ray won 3 world championships then hung up his controller and moved to Japan. He is literally Red standing atop Mt. Silver waiting for a worthy challenger. They couldn’t have written a better player for their competitive history books. Such an unfortunate way to snub a grass roots Pokémon storyline. Sorry Wolfe and co. but Ray is the GOAT.

Sorry to hear about this Ray. Hopefully you can take some solace in knowing that you're not alone in your frustrations. I also play in Asia, and you're absolutely right about tournaments everywhere having issues. I play in Thailand, and for Nationals you had players flying to Bangkok from other provinces just to lose one single elimination BO1 game, and have their hopes for the season crushed in brutal fashion. Closed team sheets T64 + 32, open team sheets T16 onwards, BO3 final only. TPCi has disrespected Asia's players massively this year.

My switch had a malfunction which was fixed by Nintendo under warranty a couple of months ago and as part of that process, they formatted my switch. Not an issue as most games have cloud saves and I just got my save data back, but Pokémon doesn’t have cloud saves and I lost two save files with combined 3000+hrs on Sword and Scarlet. Emailing TPC about this didn’t result in any help being offered, and I just lost all interest in taking Pokémon seriously when I know at any point all my hard work can get wiped out with no method to recover. Honestly very poor support from TPC and weird that it’s this bad in 2023

What's sad is that it's not just awful event organization, it's also partially due to the game itself just being bad and not functioning as it should. Why does it use save data like this? Honestly I kind of hate the "there's nothing they can do" mentality when it comes to situations like this. I understand most people don't wanna make a huge scene and they can't force themselves into a structured competition, but there absolutely needs to be human staff involved that can actually analyze individual situations and make proper judgment calls on them. Then again when you look at that TCG judge case a couple months ago it's hard to think it would even improve much, but it has to be better than what happened here.

Does VGC Worlds have an open event on Saturday? I'm a TCG player and we always have an SPE (Special Event) at Worlds called the "London/Japan/etc Open" that anyone with a spectator pass can enter.
