I found out that I had a male testicle instead of an overy when my husband and I were in a Dr's office while we were trying to get pregnant. My husband had a worse problem with it than I had. He left me that day and threatened to kill me. I had to call the police. He went to jail that day, and I moved to Alaska to get away from him. I've lived off grid in Trapper Creek Alaska ever since. It's been 40 years now, and I've never hidden this from anyone. I've been with the same man for 38 years now. He doesn't care that I once had a testicle. I never had children, only because I only had one ovary. I'm 62 now. You are a beautiful human being!!!✌🏻❤😊

Hello Sara, I am an older intersex woman, a medical doctor, and I teach about intersex at the med school of a large university. To correct you, it is not estrogen that made you grow tall, but not enough of it (I am 6' 3"). Estrogen fuses the growth plates of the long bones, and not having enough of it makes you grow to you possible genetical height. That is why boys are taller than their sisters. Otherwise you can live a productive life, and even have a family (I adopted my wonderful daughter). You just have to believe in yourself, and do the things you feel compassionate about. Lots of luck for you future life!

XXY klinefelter’s syndrome is not an intersex condition. Trans activists like to claim it is, but it’s not. DSD and Intersex are not the same thing. intersex is a genetic disorder, DSD is a hormonal disorder. DSD includes psychosexual disorders such as Homosexuality and Gender Dysphoria. i didnt hear her state her precise disorder, she just refers to it as "intersex", which is not a thing, "intersex" is a term that summarises a broad range of very different genetic conditions, not a specific condition that a person suffers from. "Intersex" refers to people who have a chromosome pattern other than the usual XY or XX. They may have one X chromosome (XO), or they may have an extra chromosome (XXY). people with DSD have usual chromosomes, (XX or XY) but have some physical aberration from normal sexual development for that gene type. from a superficial observation, it would seem her body is producing a female balance of hormones, regardless of her genetic makeup. however, that could be drug induced. most DSD are entirely preventable (but highly unlikely to achieve, given the disorders are usually caused by endemic environmental toxins, such as EDCs, which exist in high levels in almost every modern commercial product , from basics such as foods and clothes, to houses and vehicles. almost everything that comes out of a factory or farm.

omg this hit home so much. Ive never related to a video so hard. This is the first video of you ive ever seen. I am male. Also 1994 born 29yr old. But had always felt different until i went to the doctors about a lump on one of my testis worried that it was cancer. He examined me & look puzzled as well as sending me for some blood tests & a scan. It wasn't cancer thankfully. Before ultimately at the age of 21 diagnosing me as intersex. I am 47XXY so genetically have both male and female chromosomes. I also tried to send my dna into a family testing thing and they came back saying there were problems. So much of my life suddenly made sense when i was diagnosed. Why id always have a higher voice. Why i seemed to have wider hips and more breast tissue than the average male. Why when boys being boys would hit each other in the downstairs area & theyd all writhe on the ground but i felt nothing. Why as i got into my late teens more and more people thought i was female when first meeting me especially if i wore hats which sucked as i used to wear hats a lot as part of my daily clothing. Why i never really grew any facial hair nor much body hair. Subsequently was told i couldnt have children which was very confusing as at the time i believed i had already had a baby boy. Due to me now knowing i was infertile it later came out that i wasnt the father of said boy but i loved him as my own. Being a father & having a family was all i could ever imagine myself doing when i was younger and being told that not only was that impossible but that the kid who you think is yours isnt was completely heartbreaking. I know there are other routes for having kids like adoption & it wouldn't be the first time in my family for there to be an adoptive line in the tree not in the slightest. But its still a punch in the gut. Not many people know i am intersex & those who do dont quite get what it means. There are some friends who tease me about me fathering a child so young unaware that actually i am incapable of having children & alexander isnt mine. I've been raised as male & always seen myself as a man so will continue to be he/him the rest of my life. The intersex awareness thing got me too. Every single year i think should i post something on facebook. I still havent but one day will have the guts too. I'm getting more and more brave and open to do so so maybe this year will be the one.

Opinion from a stranger, sharing it on Facebook would bring so many more negatives than positives. Not because it is shameful in any way, but your friends might react in ways that change things in interactions. And obviously it would need to happen after your son knows the truth, assuming you plan to tell him.
@dog771
@dog771 7 ай бұрын
@@lilolmecj if his friends act differently towards him after finding out, they probably just need to work on themselves. OP would simply be revealing something about himself that's always been true, and that doesn't really change who he is in any way, and a good friend (or even just normal person) would understand that i think. it's also good for people to share things like this, not only for themselves, but for anyone else in similar circumstances. spreading awareness is just good in general, as the more awareness there is, the less likely there is to be people like you mentioned, who would react negatively to the news their friend is intersex. so i see where you're coming from but i still think OP sharing his situation on facebook when he's ready is brave and commendable and an overall net positive.
@iDidntEatURmarshmelo

My 2 cents...If a friend of mine posted about intersex awareness, I wouldn't necessarily conclude they are intersex themselves. It's just talked about more among young ppl today, so I would figure they just support awareness. Anyways, you don't need to disclose anything to anyone unless you want to. It's not like you killed someone, so you have no reason to feel guilty about anything. If your acquaintances can't get over it, it says more about them.

No actually more like 0.018% "Conditions in which chromosomal sex is inconsistent with phenotypic sex, or in which the phenotype is not classifiable as either male or female, occur in 0.018% of the population. The claim that 1.7% of the population is ‘intersex’ [2] includes conditions which most clinicians do not recognize as intersex [1], and is often wrongly used to back up the ideological assertion that ‘sex is a spectrum’, or that biological sex is not dimorphic. The philosopher Kathleen Stock points out that she would be considered as “intersex” under Fausto-Sterling’s “preposterously over-demanding conditions on sex category membership”, as she lost an ovary in early adulthood [3], which would count as “intersex” according to Fausto-Sterling. While completing my undergraduate degree, I took a course called developmental biology. Basically, we learned on the development of an embryo throughout pregnancy. Toward the end of the semester, we learned about intersex. We were taught how sex is on a spectrum, not just male or female. It is surprisingly more common than we think (probably because we never speak of it and pretend it doesnt happen). It is about as common as people with red hair. Thank you so much for sharing this! We need more education on this topic!

Sex is not a spectrum. There are only male and female, and DSDs are sex specific. Sex is defined by which gametes you produce, females produce eggs and males produce sperm, both are required for reproduction. There's no third gamete or a spectrum of sex. Everyone is either or, including people who have DSDs.
@jimthechaosbunny
@jimthechaosbunny 13 күн бұрын
@@HumanimalChannel thing is though, it really is a spectrum, just as much as height or weight is. Biological sex expression is dictated partly by genetics... And while the chromosome are X or Y, there are thousands of different genes on each of those chromosomes that make up thousands of different elements of biological sex.... Then another part of how biological sex comes about is to do with gene expression... That is, some of those genes are 'read' by the body's processes, and some of them aren't. Then after that come the sex hormones, which each body produces different amounts of, and there's several different kinds of sex hormone, each of which produces a spectrum of effects depending on how much your body produces and what your gene expression does (for example it tells your body what to do when it recognises those hormones... Or sometimes it doesn't). Then we add gender on to the top of it, which is basically the social myths and expectations that we as humans attach to having any particular place on the spectrum of genetic and hormonal expression, and it's a whole mess of assumptions and confusion. If you understand the biology of it all, saying that there is only male or female makes as little sense as saying there is only tall or not tall.

No coukdn’t have children and had to have 6 weeks in hospital to sort out my ‘plumbing’ decades ago. I had surgery as an infant and no one told me. Yes I’m a ‘freak’ of nature but there’s lots of us around. Some people can be armholes but I just learnt to ignore them. I’ve fostered children, been a mental health counsellor helping other intersex, transgender and vulnerable people. Why should we be ashamed of being intersex. You look lovely and as to your jaw definitely within the female range. Being tall, my friend’s daughter is 6 foot tall and not intersex. We are still human beings. XY chromosomes don’t always mean male as there is the subject of hormones etc in the formation of a child. I’m 76 now and do suffer from osteoporosis and had compression fractures and have hormone patches. No womb or ovaries. You are not alone and do not feel inadequate or a ‘freak’ as you are not. There’s been so much societal discrimination against intersex people and straight up medical discrimination. Thank you for sharing, there are people who need to hear this. Here’s to breaking the stigma. As a fan for 6 years now i’m looking forward to more content and so happy to see you on youtube again!

I was going to have my periods at 6 years old, my puberty started quite early compared to my peers. I had to stop my growth for a while, had to take hormone injections for almost 3 years to stop my growth. My chest was growing, I wore my first bra at age 8, and I felt like a weirdo for most of my childhood. these things mark your life. I'm super proud of you, I've really been following you for a long time. thank you for being the voice of so many people who can't find the courage to love who they are. I will always be by your side ♡

Oh my goodness.. you were only 6 years old. That must have been very difficult for you to go through. It’s not something most females know about until at least 10. @@JL-zn7me I was diagnosed with precocious puberty. I was developing ovaries and my follicles were going to break in a very short time if my mum wouldn't have noticed that my chest was bigger than normal at only 6 years old. I've always been overweight and my relatives always said it was normal to have nipples for a big child but thank god my mum didn't listen to them. So when I started my hormone injections it also prevent me to have my periods at such a young age and I had my first periods at 9. So it was very painful to be seen as the "abnormal", as a woman. My peers looked at me as an alien because i was 158 cm at only 7 years old but still very childlike. So yes, i had trauma and worked a lot on it. It really marks your life but you grow better knowing the power of your strength of facing pain and suffer as a kid.. you just deal with it💕

I am a 76yr. Old woman, XX chromosomes. My story is that of a girl who was messed up by endometriosis. I didn’t have my first period until I was 14 and it was very painful. I would go months without a period and the doctors would give me shots to start on . I never knew when I would have a period, therefore could not plan for it to start. My periods were very painful and lasted a week( the pain,too!) I was only able to have one child and the doctors said I was lucky to have him. I had a total hysterectomy when I was 30. The endometriosis hah gone into the walls of my uterus. When I was in my 20’s the endometriosis got out into my abdomen, causing perintitis, I had to have surgery to remove adhesions. All in all I was never so glad to get rid of all pain! People who have no difficulties in their lives have no idea what others go through, they are unable to understand what we go through. One should never judge someone else for their life choices, everyone has the right to live the life they are most comfortable with and not be torn down for what life has handed them!

Please do not call yourself old. I am 66, my husband is 72. There is nothing wrong with “old”, but it is a mindset. My mother started calling herself “old” when she was in her 60’s. She became old b4 her time. She has dementia…..she is a beautiful woman. But she definitely became old when she started calling herself old. Oh well. Call yourself old if it makes you feel the way you want to feel.

I can't relate to the religious part, but I'm also both intersex and transgender so I can definitely relate to that aspect of it. I was raised as a boy but transitioned when I was 19. I've been living as a woman for 13 years now and it's the best decision I ever made. Gender dysphoria really is an extremely horrible feeling. Even if your parents don't accept who you are, at least everyone else does. Being accepted for who you are makes your life feel so much more complete. I hope that one day your parents will realise how much better it is for you to be true to yourself and that they'll be able to accept that you for who you are.

@@CiaraOSullivan1990 But is the term "transgender" applicable to intersex people? Transgender is a person who is born as one sex and transition to another. But in your case you're born with both, you just choose one over the other, not go from one to the other. Since the parents do have to make a choice, sometimes they choose their child likes, and sometimes the child doesn't agree with their choice and chooses the other as soon as possible. It's not exactly passing from one sex to the other if you have both to begin with, no? And I think it must also be much easier to transition than other people who were born with only one. Okay, it's only a question of wording, but I hope you understand what I mean.

I'm on the spectrum and have adhd. I've always felt like I was on the outside looking in on the world. It's difficult being different, but we see the world in a unique way a d feel things so strongly and deeply. Even those of us who are neurodivergent or intersex or any other sort of non typical thing--- we're here, we exist, and it's for the better. I hope you can learn to love yourself just as you ate without feeling you are wrong in how you are. If you can extend love to yourself and accept you as you are, thst is what will help you live your best life. It's not up to anyone else, but you're not alone, and people care! Embrace what you live about yourself. The more you shine from living yourself, the more fulfilled and happy you'll be. I wish you the best.

Hi Sara, I am not sure why this video came into my feed but I’m very grateful it did. You are such an eloquent speaker, obviously highly intelligent and outwardly beautiful, but that’s not the most important thing. The most important thing is that you were brave enough to come on and tell your story the way you have. I hope this video is seen by the thousands of young intersex people in the world who are going through finding out that they are different, like you did when you were 16. I hope it makes them feel that they are one of the many miracles (not religious but I think nature is miraculous) of difference in this wonderful, varied world of ours. I also hope that if you decide to have a child, by whatever means, it makes you happy. There are many of us who have all our “lady parts” who, for whatever reason have not had the opportunity to bear a child of their own. My plan is to foster young teenagers when I retire but you are young enough to adopt if you want to. Keep making your videos and speaking to the world. It needs to hear from intelligent, kind people like you, now more than ever. Much love, I am subscribing so I can get to know more about you.
