Loved this tour!! Since there’s been no major changes from the 2018 we just got a used 2018 Platinum Max fully loaded for $50K. A STEAL in my opinion for everything you get and the space. Have had it for a few months in we absolutely love it! I did want to say for any mom struggling with the car not being as aesthetically pleasing as others...getting a light leather interior and a color outside of silver or black for the exterior is a HUGE game changer!! For those worried about inflatable seatbelts there’s some models without it available, and it may no longer be offered in the newer models, but also it doesn’t affect any car seats installed using the latch anchors, and many seats like the Gracos and Cleks among others are inflatable seatbelt compatible! Also, in the middle row in the bench option each seat that makes up the bench is individual (versus like a 60/40 split) so you can move one seat back while the other is forward more (aka, tall uncle can sit in the back with leg room but you can still move the seat the baby is on forward to be able to reach baby, for example). I will say that having the 4x4 and the 360 cameras in all of the platinum trim tech is super helpful and useful. The double moonroof is so great on nice days (lots of those where we live), so much storage throughout, and USBs and the cup holders everywhere for everyone lol. The safety features from lane assist to collision avoidance etc is a peace of mind to have. AND the Ford app where you can find where you left your car in the parking lot, start the car in advance, lock/unlock the car, check gas tank level, etc is so helpful as a mom thinking about things a million miles a minute with a toddler. Can you tell I absolutely love it?!? Worth it to go used and save lots of $$$ while still having the same amenities and car as a 2021 owner (a possibly better if they’re driving a 2021 XLT 😜 while I have the platinum lol). Just REALLY LOVE IT!!!!

How does it handle? My husband is looking at the max and it seems so huge. I’m scared I’ll hit something while driving. I’ve only ever driven an accord and an Altima but we have 3 kids and are looking to have one more so we know we will need the space for that reason alone.

@@JNL2013 as someone who has only previously driven a Corolla and an Altima myself, I think it handles great! I was SUPER worried about the size of the Max and kept telling my husband I probably wouldn’t be able to manage it. I can now say I was absolutely wrong and made drama for nothing 😂 it handles sooo good, has tons of power and quick pick me up, but I would also say I benefit a bunch from the 360 cams (we have a Platinum trim) for parking purposes especially when spots are tight - but from what we saw during shopping it’s very rare to find the 360 cams (302A package) on a limited or XLT trim

I bought a 2021 Max XLT FX4 about three weeks ago. I regret it every time I have to drive it. Mediocre suspension, tuned DOWN from even my 2012 F150. The amount of electronics make me feel like I’m driving a failure waiting to happen. If you use all three rows, can’t fit a stroller in the trunk. Steering has a loose feel to it, not tight like a BMW per se. This just does not feel like I’m driving a vehicle that costs as much as it does. More like $15,000 overpriced. Out of the 11 vehicles I’ve ever purchased, I’d say this is the only one that I regret buying.

We went with this car because I’m 6ft and my husband is 6’10 and have great room. We have the max and I would tell anyone if you going to buy it definitely get the max you will regret if you don’t! I agree wish the screen was nicer and wish it came with TVs in the headrests. Has great storage and room!

This video helped out a lot when it came to purchasing our 2021 Expedition Max Limited. Love everything about it. From seating capacity to towing capacity. We got the 8 passenger version. We have 1 year old twins and a 3 year old. Car seat setup works awesome with great access to the back row. We use a wonder fold wagon, which when collapsed still takes up a bunch of space, but we can still utilize all three rows and the wagon fits in the back. Beyond satisfied with our purchase.

Your excitement is not only contagious, I want to do a ride-along to your car reviews. And you are ON POINT with your mom viewpoints. The cup holder capacity is literally a deal breaker. Overhead vents. Also deal breaker. But the thing that got me. The automated stowing of the seats. I'm sold.

I like this tour of the 2021 Ford Expedition from The Car Mom. The Car Wizard just did a tour of a 2020 Lincoln Navigator last fall, when they were in Scottsdale, Arizona for the Barrett-Jackson Tour. They both have the 3.5 L Ecoboost V6 engine, but they do not have the issue with the water pump, which is only in FWD vehicular configurations of Ford products. Also, they both replaced the totally unreliable, 5.4 L Triton (3-valve) V8 engine back in 2015. The newer Expedition's/Navigator's are much improved over the older model counterparts.

I just bought the 2021 Ford Explorer. I love it so much. I had a 2015 Ford Explorer that was fully loaded. The only thing I miss is not having a CD player. I don’t miss the sun roof currently. I searched out the exact Explorer I wanted and drove 2.5 hours away to get it. I opted for regular sized rims vs the low profile. We live outside of the city and feeling every bump drove me crazy. I also opted for the bench seat vs the captains chairs. I have a 3 month old and a 4 year old. I have the baby in the middle and my four year old on the side. There is plenty of room and I sit in the back a lot when my husband drives. I LOVE the phone holder and the many cup holders (so many more than the old model). I opted for the activex seat material. Perfect for kids without breaking the bank. The explorer comes with seat and the steering warmer. I don’t miss the navigation because it will show up on the screen with my phone plugged in. I negotiated the price down $4k. I’m not sure what you’re used to but I love it. You should go look at one and test drive it. I really liked the new one but I tend not to love things right away. I LOVED it the second day I had it and I think that was only because I didn’t drive it home because I sat in the back with my kids. It feels pretty spacious and I’m pretty sure it’s a little bigger than the old model. I know you were looking for her opinion but hopefully mine helps.

I purchased this vehicle a month ago and Love it! I test drove several SUVs before deciding on this one. Purchased a CPO 2020 Max 2WD XLT with a 202A and ActiveX package. For me it was a good compromise in terms of features at the price point. I could have gone Limited but the power running boards was the only feature I wish I had but could definitely live without. Maybe also the Pano roof which mine does not have. Lastly, regret not holding out for a 4x4. If I'm honest for our family's purposes and location we have never needed 4x4. I was a little worried about the size since I was coming from a smaller SUV but its a smooth and easy drive. I have four kids. The two youngest sit in the third row; high back boosters latch install and tethered (Britax Pinnacle ClickTight and Diono Monterey). There's still space for a slim older child in the middle. The kids all have enough cupholders, charging ports, space to hold their items. The tilt and slid works great; they get in and out easily. With the max I got the trunk space and the roomy third row. First Ford for us; hope it lasts as we don't plan on buying again for several years.

I have had 3 expeditions over the years my first one was a 2001 xlt that held 8, then I had a 2007 limited that held 7, and now I have a 2017 xlt that holds 8. I like the both the 8 seaters and 7 seaters but with kids the 7 seater is easier if you have 4 kids ( like I do) because then you don't have to let one of the middle seats down or raise the lift gate up for them to go out that way. But with my 2017 I hate how my kids in the middle row can adjust the volume of the stereo since it has volume knobs on the back of the center console. Plus I love all the cup holders you get in an expedition. I have thought about getting an explorer but size difference is the biggest downside for me because we are a family of 6 with 3 dogs ( which one is a large breed dog) and we travel a lot and having to think about if everyone and everything would fit in the vehicle is the reason I have kept my expedition because I know how much stuff will fit in it and that I can fit everyone and everything in it, unless it is Christmas and going out of town to my in laws and then we just put the hitch haul on the back for extra storage space.

We have five kids in our family and were disappointed to see that the Suburban does not offer any sort of headrest in the middle of the 2nd row or 3rd row. When the kids are older and out of their car seats that could be a major whiplash injury. Honestly, I'm surprised Chevrolet isn't required to install headrests on all seats. That leaves the Expedition Max as our only option for this large of a vehicle with headrests in all 8 seating positions. Also, the tilt and slide 2nd row seats, which allow the car seat to remain installed are a big deal for us as we have three car seats in the 2nd row and the other other two kids are in the 3rd row. Suburban doesn't offer the tilt and slide seat.

So, I'm not sure...did you like this car? LOL! I love the energy and practicality of this review. I'm a mom of three and just pulled the trigger on a used Platinum Expedition and I have to say...your review is spot on. I love owning the road. The space between me and my kids in the back is phenomenal (so I don't have to pull over on the side of the road and kill anybody). And the features...there are some luxe ones (like the rear entertainment system and the wood trim) but not too luxe so that I'm not mad when a kid spills something in my car (hey, we're just not at the Navigator stage yet!). It's looks good and it's a beast and just a solid family car. To give some perspective, I traded in a Honda Odyssey Touring which just oozes practicality (and also sadly screams I am a mom - I had the stick people family sticker on the back to prove it) so to have something that replaces it while still giving me the practicality I need and looks good while driving it is a win for me. I also like that all the appointments/features feel like they make sense....like the storage, the number of plugs and cup holders, where they are, how you get into the back seat...and that the tech is not too extra...don't get me wrong I like bells and whistles but sometimes there's too much and I forget what's there and don't use them....on the Expedition there's just enough and they are accessible so I remember to use them. Also, it may be just me but if I take the car seats out...I think I look cool driving it (don't burst my bubble I'm going to stay operating under that delusion!)

This past March we went on spring break! And I rented a SUV through enterprise! And when I went to pick it up! It was a brand new Ford Expedition max platinum! And I loved it! I so wish I could buy one!.. my son said you should make a video about a Ford Mustang! Haha

Can you compare suburban, escalade, expedition, Yukon, in regards to dependability? Please

Defiantly going to buy one soon! For a young family of 5 would you recommend the bench or captains chairs?

I'm having so much trouble finding one with captains chairs. Would it be ok to remove the middle seat in the 2nd row!?

Do these new Fords have the inflatable seat belts in the middle row, like the older ones?

Yes, but they are part of an optional feature package.

Im hyped about the space too! I drive a highlander, but have noticed how nice the body style of the 2021 Expedition and Explorer is. I’ve been wondering how the inside looks, so thanks! Already considering my next lease lol

I drove one of these last week and it completely changed the car I want next. It wasn’t even on my radar and now I’m trying to convince my husband we need to spend the money. I have been driving his F150 since I wrecked my car a while ago and I don’t think I could go back to a lower car!

Have you done a suburban/ expedition max comparison??
@djcarnes64613 жыл бұрын
I'm getting the Max of XLT version... In the regular or max version, storage cover in back actually doubles as a shelf also, with this little flip down clips .the room is massive and the tilt/slide middle is the best -- along with 3rd seat leg room

Can you do the Navigator? I’m having a hard time spending $70k on a vehicle that looks like fleet truck on the inside 🤪 I like all that space, but I wanna see a little bit of my money too, ya know?
@TheCarMom3 жыл бұрын
definitely! I am hoping to get to a Navigator soon!
@sashaquesada86703 жыл бұрын
We just got a 2018 expedition max platinum a light interior and I can assure you it doesn’t feel like a fleet truck. The dark leather in my opinion makes it very masculine. The feel of luxury and also the $15k less that we spent on it was so great!
@ashie1213 жыл бұрын
@@sashaquesada8670 I’m glad you are happy with the car! I think, for me, it’s the overall design of the dash/control/tech center that isn’t my taste. My dad drives an F350 and it is so similar in design to the Expedition. Just isn’t my preference.

I love hearing others opinions. I'm use to driving a '05 f150. So having any camera is an upgrade for me. We do have another car that is newer with a screen similar to this expedition, but I like the smaller screen size so I can still have buttons for ac. The newer models don't have buttons. The screen is very bright and distracting to me at night even dimmed all the way. I thought of even getting a screen cover. I'm pretty sure I'm just hypersensitive to light. It doesn't phase my husband. So when I saw the 2023 version with a huge screen, and that screen is higher than the dash it was overbearing with light and in the way of my view. I felt cluttered. It was the only reason I didn't want the car. Lol. I'm sure if I get use to it if I did get it. Thanks for your thoughts. Now I understand more why people want more out of it.

Love my 2016 ford expedition but with 3 kids, I'm really looking forward to the 2021 or 2022 upgrade and maybe to a Max. The best update in 2018 which I don't have is top tethers in all locations. With the 2016 I can only forward face in the center of the 3rd row. This video is getting me soooo excited to upgrade (also the trunk looks bigger than mine)

This is magnificient, all review features are on-point & practical for a family. Would be an added bonus if i was able to see how many medium to large suitcases (23-32kg) would fit with 3rd row seats folded down. Thank you

What other 3 row full sized suvs allow a car seat to stay in place and the car tilt forward.
@deafhealthcare52203 жыл бұрын
Love this! Just a few things as the friendly CPST and one who have the Ford Expedition Max (2019)- There are various LATCH limits on the car seats so if you reach that- seatbelt is required. I love the LATCH in 5 positions since I can use them with latch friendly boosters. And.. I’m sure it’s the same with the 2021- the 3rd row outboard head rests are not removable or adjustable and forward fixed so A LOT of the forward facing seats and boosters are NOT compatible. A few are. I can list them all if you want since I tested pretty much them all in my Expedition and currently have 2 FFing seats back there!

This seems to be the most family (lots of carseats) friendly suv on the market right now! I wish I could afford it!

I love my 2018 Edge! It works great right now for one baby (8 months) and I feel like it should be good for two as well! We lucked out on a CPO/ former lease that the dealership wasn't having any luck selling because of the interior color! One year old car with only 15k miles for $18,000 off MSRP, so we couldn't pass it up. Huuuge upgrade from a Fiesta SE 🤣

I'll be switching from a minivan to an Expedition this fall. I can't wait. I used to daily an older Expedition, a 2016 I think. The 2018 and up models are a vast improvement over those.
