adding a note to the footage to apologize for the appearance of the back of your hair speaks volumes about the changes you're trying to make. About focusing on yourself and self-referencing. When you're not so self-focused you won't really do that anymore. It won't occur to you to worry or care about your fears of the opinions of others. Good luck with your rebrand! We went through ours a few months back. Funny enough, a big part of it is centered around the phrase "you deserve to feel joy" and bringing mental health into the picture. We have custom shipping boxes made with that phrase and other fun stuff on it.

Don't know if you've seen it, but Wade from Black Tie Barn had someone send samples in a review video where they had poured their wax into little lip balm jars. You'd have to mark it appropriately so some hapless customer doesn't try to rub it on their lips, but it was a cute presentation.

I absolutely agree with you that you need to make your business about the customer, a big reason why people fail is because they make it all about them, they only use their preferred fragrances and when you make it so personal, nobody is going to be as enthusiastic about it as you. You have to treat it as a business and not a hobby if you want to be successful. Success is relative of course but if you want to make it a full time business, you have to connect with the market. This is why large companies spend thousands on market research, it's that important. If you take market research and just throw it in the bin and say 'I will do it my way' you are doomed to fail in the long run

I've been watching a lot of candle making videos lately and find your videos and those from 'Black Tie Barn' inspirational. I've just started pouring my first Test Candles. I Don't know if his will be any more than a hobby but I'm having fun - so far. I've just test burned a batch of 3 candles: Same size Jar, Same wax, Same scent, Same FO but 3 different size wicks. Initially they performed differently but when I did the power burn they all performed about the same- interesting still learning Don't know about branding yet, but thought I might take a page from your book "Golden Memory Candles" What do you think?

When I first started, the first thing I thought of my state. Long story short, even though my state has some interesting names, I went local. Won't post the name, that wouldn't be right. Secondly, I thought, what do people really want in a candle? Answer, strong scent, burns evenly. I think I nailed that, not bragging. Thirdly, it's about the customer. Do I hate this test scent? Yes, but will the customer? Most importantly, what really sucks about business now a days? Customer Service. That became my main focus. Guess it worked, so far. My Etsy store is 5 stars. So at the end of the day, make it about the customer always.

Love watching your videos. I'm actually a jewellery designer, but appreciate the business advice! I was in the throws of changing my business name, only slightly (getting rid of the word 'studio') but worried it'll confuse my customers.. I only have just over a thousand followers on IG but concerned I'll make the wrong choice. I've only bought a new website domain for £28 and stamps @£50 for packaging so far, but still a wasteful money loss if don't do it. I then thought maybe I could use the new name for a sub collection, but again thought it would confuse! Even writing this sounds confusing lol, so any advice would be appreciated (for context I'm 'Wild Cove Studio' at the moment, changing to 'The Wild Cove').. Definitely rebranding packaging and the website either way, it takes soooo long though hey!! Good luck with yours and thank you!!❤

I saw the candle. Love it. I did a full rebrand (name change and everything) 4 years ago. It's sooo much work but has been worth it. I have recently redone my labels for the millionth time, I am always tweaking them. I need a sign to tell me to stop messing with them all the time but I really like how they look now. Even though a local person also switched hers to a similar style, I'm going to be keeping it this way. :) Good luck with yours, I am looking forward to seeing how it goes for you.

I love the label on your Halloween candle. Great idea!🤩 Unfortunately, in the EU we cannot easily mix fragrance oils. To do this, we need specially prepared safety data sheets in 100% and the percentage used (e.g. 10% FO), appropriate CLP labels with danger symbols and ingredients and registration of the products with the ECHA (European Chemical Agency) with the associated dossier for PCN (Poison center notification). So it is a big effort and above all it takes a long lead time to prepare everything and in some countries registering a FO or product costs 200 euros (approximately 220 USD). That makes you think twice.😵‍💫
