It's just the perfect engine for a car. You get everything. The speed, the economy and the refinement. It can tow anything while remaining economical. Have some experience on CR turbo diesels here in eu. As far as the exhaust, the cat on the DP is a tremendous restriction and it heats the turbo a lot so it does not exactly add to the longevity, you might even melt it with the hybrid turbo. Creating a straight pipe DP will give a lot of whistling goodies sound from the turbine, nice spooling sounds, but most importantly it will free up a lot of power up the power band where usually there was little power 4300-4500 rpm, and also it will improve the turbos life. You may not benefit much without a remap (custom tune) and on some cars a huge turbo lag (hole) has been created after making a straight down pipe because it reliefs pressure much faster, although I personally have not had that problem at all, wasnt a Merc though. As far as the rest of the exhaust goes, I would delete everything and create a straight pipe except the rear muffler would be a high flow. You do not want to remove the rear muffler except if you want that whistling hollow sound of an owl (if you know what I mean haha) but I wouldnt do it to a daily. Good luck! You are doing EXACTLY what I have been planning and have already collected many of the parts. I have the C30 CDI injector nozzles installed on injectors already but not on my car yet. I have upgraded billet turbo already installed. I have front mount installed. I have a used E400 CDI pump. It is not a direct bolt on. For a start, there is no fuel temp sensor and also there is some shaving to be done on the front side of the engine. The fuel lines are slightly different also. I am going to do custom downpipe ... only have the flange ... did not get a whole downpipe. Figure it’s all going to be custom anyway. I have E63 AMG bumper and door mirrors also I just bought E55 AMG calipers to go on. I have a euro spec intake manifold with no swirl flaps I swapped it out when I had a bad oil cooler leak. My car is speced more like your newer CDI very rare in the US. Mine has Parktronic and I retrofitted distronic also. So nice to see someone else so enthusiastic about this car! Google my screen name and you’ll find I fix and modify quite a bit of stuff on W211 Chassis!

Tell me about it, is the programming already in the computer to be activated or do you have to program it in? Wiring issues? Components required? I really think it would be Legit Cool to have the E55 and E350 look exactly the same in your garage. The matching paint kinda got me thinking that from the start. I agree, they're feature-full (I have one in my car!) However they provide really poor sound quality (this is well known) and considering he has the upgraded speaker system, it'd be a huge waste if it sounded terrible!

Best check on forums for other people's experiences (since obviously my speakers in the golf were never amazing to start with) but from what I've heard, it's really poor. To the extent that a Sony/alpine, etc. unit with Android auto is a way better option as you get the smartphone functionality with a proper stereo to drive the speakers

I used to laugh my butt off at the surprise most people had when I would out run them from a stop light in my tractor, by launching from 3rd or 4th gear and then pulling way ahead of them to 60-75 mph. When they caught up to me, the look on their faces was priceless. A had one guy follow me to a truck stop just to ask me how and why was my 18,000 lbs. tractor so quick and able to pull away from his gas powered pickup truck. I answered with the one word every diesel owner knows - torque. If you want to move something heavy, you’re gonna need torque. When I look at performance numbers, the first thing I look for now, is the amount of torque an engine produces. Those are the numbers I’d like to hear about, when you tell us about your performance gains after the modifications you’ve done to your cars. Everyone already knows you’re looking for more horsepower, but it takes torque to move that beautiful Merc! Tell us how to make those numbers go up, then tell us what that seat fees like and how far back you got pressed into it when you dropped the hammer in a race! You do fantastic work,Alex, and your videos keep getting better, as well as more interesting. I look for YOUR new videos every time I log on to KZbin. Yes, notifications are turned on. lol! I have the same car only in the UK. Mine however came with factory Brembo brakes. Same callipers only 312mm discs. This may be an easier conversion as the BAS/ABS pump will definitely handle it. Please, please, please keep it Obsidian Black! It’s such a fantastic colour and looks amazing when polished! CLS wheels fit this car perfectly if you’re considering keeping Mercedes spec wheels with 255 35 R18 front and 265 30 R18 rear. Made mind look great with lower coil overs.

It IS a great car I got mine from Florida and it was SUPER clean with 104 000 mi ..it HAS some known problems the transmission needs to be flushed and a cable connector replaced as a precaution! There is leakage happening that just might take out the transmission controller if left as is. The SBC (hydroelectric brake system) when it goes out you cannot go replace it yourself unless you have the star diag equipment. The Kommand unit (radio/gps) unit can be replaced with an android system thats capable talking to the can bus and the fiber optics interface and the amplifier in the trunk, thats how you get a usb interface to connect stuff to the amplifier! because the stock Kommand head unit doesnt have USB! Have fun!!!! Projects for next year.

The trunk misalignment issue is common to all Mercedes with the power trunk closer . SeArch cl65 trunk for edmunds review on it . All my Mercedes with the power trunk closer have the alignment issue . It was not due to anyone Prying the trunk

Yes, those seats cost me $7k when I purchased my CDI in 2005. I'm 6' - 200 lbs. and it was so damn uncomfortable I sold it in 6 months at a huge loss. Had intended to drive it forever and was so disappointed. Now that deprecation has taken it's toll I'm actually looking for a CDI with std. seats. After owning dozens of Diesel cars over the years (240D's, 300TD's, E300D' etc), I have settled on the W211 platform. I am on my sixth W211 now (my first three were sold to my brother and his family during the last few years). The car I am looking for now, is going to be hard- like finding a needle in a haystack. I really want a CDI WAGON! I have an '04 E320 wagon now, but would love to have it CDI powered. After seeing several of them in Europe in 2017, I knew I had to have one. The wagon is so versatile, and I take advantage of that versatility almost every day. I have searched the Canada car sites, but only found one, and found out it sold. Do you think the 211 is better than the 212 and 213? I love the 211 too but can't find a good one. For me the 212 feels just as solid as the 211. But when we look at C class I feel the 203 feels so much better than the 204. The 203 feels solid and heavy (in a good way) and rides smoother and quieter. The 204 suspension is a bit stiff. The interior of the 203 also feels like granite. There are little pieces made better than the 204 and there is no plastic unlike the 204. Knock the door panels and dashboard etc and the 203 also feels more like granite vs the 204. The new 205 just feels too light and hollow. :-( I wish they could go back to those days of the feeling of the 203s and 211s.

@@fxbrianh Which one has a better ride? I had a look at several 211s but just couldn't find the one I was looking for. There was an E500 but something was wrong with the gearbox I think. When I test drive it it felt really slow. I drove an E350 as well which felt great and was mechanically solid but the bodywork was in bad shape. I then drove a 212 E500 and it was really good. Had air suspension but had too many kms on it. But the engine was so so smooth. I couldn't believe the amount of kms on there (272,000 kms or about 170,000 miles).

Great find. Love the seats that was one of the options I was looking for. The day after Xmas I bought a 05 cdi silver (yuck) but black interior (plus) body, engine compartment and interior is 95 % close to perfect. 108,000 miles new tires, brakes, wipers and plugs were replaced 10,000 miles ago. I had to drive 3 hours to Caden NJ. To find out once I got home the screen on radio flickers and needs right ball joint. I found out once I hit a PA potholes. Lol. Great videos and info. regarding the injectors, you should just send yours to be modified but you need to make sure they change the insides too and not just the nozzle. Another choice is to buy a set of the newer om646 injectors (maybe broken ones) and modify those. From what I can remember late om646 had big injectors stock and could be modified even bigger. Also if you plan to put out 400-500 hp you should probably rebuild the trans with better parts

Nice car. I once bought a 2010 C300 W204 which had the same exact trunk lid gap. The car was never been in an accident. I found that the spring under the lid had too much tension causing the gap. I adjusted the spring tension by changing the hook latch position and the gap and gone. Remove the inside trunk covers under the rear glass and the lid hinges and rams; you may see what am I talking about.

The orange wood in the interior doesn't go with the black leather, try to find the greenish wood that came in the Avantgarde trim package (that is what it was called in Europe, in USA it would probably be as sports version), it goes really good with the black leather and in that package you got silver a instrument cluster.

Very interesting on the water meth - would be interested in water meth on/off comparisons should you get the opportunity to dyno what different mods do. I was lead to believe that the gains from water meth would be minimal on VW TDI stuff, that being said I've got a kit sitting in my garage that I was going to fit when I went bigger nozzles on my V6 TDI, I'm now tempted to do this within the next few weeks. I did the same thing hunting my cdi down years ago. It doesn't have the dynamic seats but they are beige heated and the car has the dynamic HID's, pano roof, trunk assist, Rear folding seats that automatically push the seats forwards as well as the appearance package. Not sure if the aux port in the glovebox is standard but it does have the C723 Cubanitsilber (pewter silver) paint and really unusual factory B2G18 18spoke wheels. Got it with 120k miles, now up to 306k. Runs like a top.

Hello CDI fans. I own a 2002 W211 E220CDI with a fully rebuult OM646 engine. My car came straight piped from the day i bought it. It does sound amazing with the 2 pipe exaust from a E420CDI. There is a big issue. My country has terrible diesel fuel and even with a brand new rebuilt engine all the black crap sticks to the back of the car. Messing with the park tronics. So they beep randomly. Plus the car is super hard to clean with ceramic coating. Also the drone at 2400RPM (120km/h) is insane for the back seat passangers. Straight up insane. Def not recommended. I got a UK 220CDI parts car from 2004. Had a brand new exaust so i put it on my car. Dont straight pipe it. Altougt it makes a good sound ngl

Do you drive your rear wheel drive Mercedes e320 cdi in the winters? You have me really interested in these vehicles. I have a 2003 VW TDI Jetta wagon with 365,000 miles on it and I'm thinking I will keep that as my winter car because of its fwd, Malone stage 4 tune and its 185hp and 300 ft.lbs.of torque at the wheels. Am looking for a summer luxury vehicle and I'm sold on diesels.

seeing it converted to look like E63 will be awesome i think there is nothing wrong taking a base Mercedes being made to look like its AMG counterpart solong you dont put E63/C63 on the back just for the looks its a awesome way to mod them.

I wouldn‘t install a E63 Bodykit on this. It is still an E320 CDI and so it seems a bit odd if you would fit that on there. I would just go to the Paintshop, let them refurbish the 197 Obsidianblack Colour and take care of the Rust on the Doors, Install the 2002-2005 LED Taillights from the Avantgarde and AMG W211s and fit some E55 Stock Wheels on this. Because I wouldn’t want to be laughed at by pulling up at the Walmart with a stinky Diesel which seems to be an AMG.

I also have a C220 cdi 2005. would like to deactivate the EGR valve. also got a very funny oil leak just under the intake manifold i think, and its plastic. crank case breather pipe looks okay, not cracked. oil filter housing seems okay, no leaks there. 108000 miles on, still a baby. turbo very laod whistle after using egr cleaner mix in diesel tank. think the catalysator is burned clean.

Okaaaaaayyy... I’ve missed something here along the way, so help me out. Disabling the EGR valve because...? Diesels typically have higher NOX emissions than gas (unless you’re advancing ignition timing). Also removing the Cat? Is it not possible to make mods to the car without blatantly bypassing/defeating key emission control components? I mean, yeah, mods usually increase emissions. If we’re talking track car, okay. But I feel like the above mods are pretty environmentally irresponsible especially for a daily driver. I intend no disrespect, I love your channel, and no, I don’t hug trees. Please help me understand this.

I know I'm about 2 years from this purchase, but I'm building a shop with a heavy hoist (10,000 lbs) then I want to get a 2010-13 E350 bluetec. LOVE the body and interior. (not a fan of the w211 style) I build custom vehicles. Put in engines etc that never came in them. I'm willing to work and deal with the regen system on the bluetec but would you be able to tell me what to look/prepare for. Same with the w212. Have looked for a nice w211 cdi in Canada but no luck. Unless I spend 12,000.

Nice ride! Do you need adjustable camber bars for lowering this? I am trying to figure this out myself. I have an 2005 E320 CDI black/black with the dynamic seats and harmon kardon audio. Heating except no cooling! My dad has the cooling. And my dynamic pumps are broken so I need to get that fixed...

I'm running a BMW X5 35d and a lot of People didn't even know they made diesels. I get around 29.5 average but since the Polar Vortex arrival it's now 24.7. What I really would like to have is the 12 cylinder diesel that has been known to exist in Europe, I know I could sell a few if given a chance here in the States so where do I find one???

If you're going for an understated elegance with the wrap, check out Avery's Eclipse. It's very similar to Mercedes' Columbite/Sienna Black that came on the special edition Key to the Cure cars that Mercedes did with Saks Fifth Ave.

In EU there is w203 c32 amg with has the same inline 5 engine as the one from the c 300 cdi coupe.Also the om628 which is the v8 diesel is used in many models like the w163 Ml400,w463 G400,w220 S400 and the w211 E400 so you have a big choice.

Welcome everybody im from poland. I bought my dream car w211 2.7cdi 2003 and something is wrong with the car but nobody in my small town can help me. Not all the time but sometime when engine is cold sometime when engine is worm when I press harder gas pedal car stop chenging the gears ther is no power no reacton for gas pedal i can drive but Wery slowly..when i stop the car and press gas pedal engine speed going only up to 30. Ther is no check engine light and when I turn off the engine and start again ewerything is fine and I can drive again! sorry for my english but i’m desperate. Can enybody can help me?

In the UK we got a w211 e320cdi facelift with the om642 engine and 7g-tronic gearbox. Absolutely amazing car until the gearbox goes at about 120k miles. Was this ever available in the states?

I have had nothing but older MB’s since I’ve had my license and I currently own a 07 C230 Sport. I’ve test driven 2 06 E320 CDI’s and each time I was so tempted to trade to one. Now that an opportunity has arose to where I might be able to get another Car, I hope the E320 CDI will be my next car

I get the 2008 blue tech big mistake after 80.00 miles became very unreliable oil leaks from oil cooler was a nightmare 12 hours labor to fix it and the mechanic change the little 8 rubber gasket only so after 5 thousand miles I have the same problems so one more time 12 hours labor and new oil cooler to fix it, I sale this car right away. To bad I don’t know about the Cdi before. So guys no blue tech car please !

Pick a wrap color. Hmm black is to obvious. No screaming colors like lambo green ore fire red. Uhm, I would still pick a color that is not seen everyday. Like oh here is an other grey merc. How about Pearl White? No that’ll turn pink in the right lightning. I think a blueish grey. Would be nice. Since merc are mostly black ore grey.

actually EGR is not a stupid thing that made "only for ECO", no...if u remove it, u will get much higher temperature of burning inside the cilinder...and bigger intercooler will not save your valves from burning out even with the power that u allready have...and u will not see it by temperature of cooling liquid, u will see it when your will turn into a pile of metal...

Kinda sad that you guys in the U.S didn’t get any cool diesel cars from mercedes. The C30 CDI AMG is such a peach with that straight 5 grunt and power delivery. Just like the V8 diesels from mercedes.

So Should I get the Bluetec 2007-2009 model since I can not find a CDI? Well there is 1 CDI with 200,000 miles for $3000 more than a 2007 Bluetec with 100000 less miles, which is better in that situation?

Buy an 210 300turbodiesel with om606 if you buy bigger turbo and take an dieselpump from w124 om603 or an «dieselmeken» pump you can get 500 horsepower

What must we look for on the SLK55 R172. looks like that is the real rouble free engine ever. some O-ring replacements on the cooling pipe connections and Walla. never any other problems till a million miles. i have one
