btw the entire main cast is queer. Angel Dust is gay, Vaggie is lesbian, Charlie is bisexual, Husker is i think pansexual, and idk if Sir Pentious has a confirmed sexuality but the general consesus is hes bisexual. i think Niffty is the only straight one but who knows for sure. also Alastor is confirmed asexual possibly aromantic but he just doesnt realize it cuz hes from a time where that wasnt a recognized thing and he fully believes he just hasnt found the right woman yet.
@rafaelmatos58517 ай бұрын
You are right on all of them, even the ones you are uncertain. Husker is really pansexual and Sir Pentious is bisexual. As for Alastor, he is only confirmed to be ace, but considering the way he is, he must be really aroace. And I personally find hillarious that Niffty is the only straight character in the hotel, while being the most twisted and creepiest.

Topic Voice actors: Angel Dusts Voic actor just graduated acting school. This was his first job and he slayed it. Absolutely perfect. The voice actor for vaggie is, like some alrezsaid, Mirabel from encanto. BUT She is also Rosa from Brooklyn 99 and the main (?) character of In the Heights (also a musical). I think they choose her because of her roughness she can bring, but in the soft intimate moments she als brings this perfect soothnes and calm with her. Rough exterior, sweet/soft interior. And everyone else just happens to be broadway musical artists. Soooo thats why their performance is top notch.

Angel having a contract with Val is LITERAL. Angel Dust signed his soul over to Val for easy access to drugs (and it’s an interesting tidbit that you learn there that his real name is Anthony, as that is the name he signed) - for the drug angel dust because he is addicted… which we learned in the pilot when angel dust is the drug he got from the vending machine. And speaking of ‘addicted’… that is actually another canon song, but one that is not in the show - you’ll have to look it up. I’ve heard it described that “Addicted” is the song where Angel is in denial about his situation while “Poison” is where he has accepted his situation with Val is horrific. But yeah - Val literally DOES own him. Because they are demons and his contract with Val is a ‘deal with the devil’ so to speak. Unfortunately, Angel’s situation is far worse than just a nasty industry contract that he’s been swindled into…

It's so interesting to me how people turn on Valentino (and rightly so) when they see him abusing Angel, but the signs are there from the beginning. The alternative love bombing and abusive texts and voice mails, for example. Even in his introduction, Val is literally tearing someone apart (limbs are flying) just because Angel is daring to not live at the studio, and therefore has put some distance between himself and Val and won't 100% be at his beck and call any more. Val was gearing up, choosing weapons, to go to the hotel and KILL Angel, and was only stopped by Vox. But it's kind of played off as a joke until we get to episode 4.
@rafaelmatos58517 ай бұрын
Well... part of the reason Val was so upset Angel moved into the hotel was due to the terms of their contract, which meant that he would have less power over him. I mean, there was a reason why Val kept pressuring Angel to come back to the studio during episode 2.
@canadiankazz7 ай бұрын

Your analyzation of Angel is exactly what I’m thinking!! I think he genuinely enjoys being a sexual person, doing sex work, etc. but the problem is Valentino. Non-spoiler lore that’s really known from Q&A over the years, Angel died due to an angel dust overdose in the 1940s in his late 20s/early 30s, and was a part of the Italian mafia in NYC. With this context, he most definitely lived during a very rough time for LGBT+ people, and probably had to hide who he was and all of his romantic interests. I think being in Hell he absolutely likes being able to be himself openly. It just should be on his own terms. Also, I understand not being sure or having your own interpretation of Angel which is totally valid, but the creator said that Angel is a gay cisgender man and uses he/him pronouns. He’s just comfortable with his gender expression, so he wears a skirt and embraces femininity a lot! It’s not shown in the show but he’s also a drag queen, which I hope to see bits of in the future. Ep 4 and the next episodes are some of my favorites and have my fav songs!! Love the way you react and can’t wait for more! *edited to change the his death date, I totally mixed up years! Sorry y’all 😭

Angel died in the 1940s
@rafaelmatos58517 ай бұрын
Yeah, I bet Angel, despite being Hell, was able to find some relief to finally be able to express himself. And think like this... Angel died on the 40s, while Valentino died on the 70s. So Angel was able to "enjoy" his staying in Hell for quite some time... at least until Valentino built his porn studio and started collecting souls to model for him, including Angel.

The VA for Vaggie is the same as the VA for Mirabel in Encanto so she definitely can be more high energy. So, Vaggie being the more grounded character and having a less bombastic tone than the other characters must have been the direction she was given and thus is done on purpose. And it makes sense with some information that comes later. "When are we killing Valentino?" Welcome to the fandom. "Poison" is absolutely a bop... and the most controversial and heavy part of the episode... or any of the episodes.

Personally I was a lot like Angel Dust. I also coped with my trauma by being more promiscuous and practicing self destructive behavior. And self destructive behavior doesn't always include drugs and alcohol. It can be neglecting your health and hygiene. It can be isolating yourself. And my whole thought process behind it was the same as Angel's. If I'm acting promiscuous and always saying yes, then no one can take away my consent (which is not true.). And again with the self destructive behavior. I thought if I didn't take care of my appearance or my health then no one would want me and it would stop the harassment. The point is that this is a side of victims you don't normally see. But it's very real for a lot of people.
@qdkdicja105 ай бұрын
oh jesus fuck this comment hit my head like a brick. I did not expect a comment I randomly decided to read one day to shake me to the core like this, but oh well. Not the part about traumatized people practicing self-destructive behavior, because that’s also the exact way I cope with my trauma. However, I flat-out refused to read any articles or do any research or even take some time to take a deep look into my psyche because hey, I know that the reason I act this way is because I’m traumatized! Trauma is the reason, and I recognize that fact, so I’m conscious and aware and awake or whatever the right word is (sorry, English is my second language hahaha,) and I would very much like to keep thinking that I’m handling this quite well. Delving deeper would cause unnecessary turmoil, and that would totally ruin this social persona that I have created after the assault. But yeah. Reading the sentence “(i)f I’m acting promiscuous and always saying yes, then no one can take away my consent” irked me so much for some reason and I kept rereading it, until denial left the chat and I had to actually get up and leave my room for a cigarette break.
@qdkdicja105 ай бұрын
Like, that sentence makes no sense and that’s quite obvious when put into text like this, how ridiculous it sounds? But I just realized that that’s genuinely the mindset that I’ve been navigating my sexual encounters with.

We can either get mad that we have the scar or try to hide it from those around us or we can acknowledge it's there and accept that though the scar being there is out of our control, we can choose how we handle it. Honestly you're the first person I've seen that actually understands angel dust the way I see him in this situation. It's not like he doesn't want to have sex, but having someone decide what happens for him and to his own body is what is damaging and hurtful. It leads people to seek other kinds control, in drugs, violence, even to the extent of being inappropriate with others and passing on that trauma (see his actions with husk). I've been an overall sexual person, and I don't regret or wish to change that, I've been in control and smart. But if someone took that away with no consent, that'll be awful, just as Angel said before in the BDSM club.

We could tell kinda what it was about... but it was so damn catchy. And then we saw episode 4. And oh man. They sucker punched us good by doing that. Everyone felt extremely dirty for having loved it so much. It was so very much darker than we even thought. And they did NOT hold back showing it. The fear in Angel for Charlie who is literally untouchable. The nightmare he lives in. His desperate tries to ruin himself so bad even Val wont use him. This episode is dark and hits the reality of things way too well. But that song still bops hard. Weve made our oeace with loving it.

I mean... he already had a tough life when he was alive, coming from an Italian mafia family that he hated (except for his twin sister) and dying from an overdose. And now, even in death, he has to endure the abusive treatment he gets from Valentino. In fact, there's actualy a loophole in the contract he did with Valentino that may be the key to set him free... as long we know the terms regarding it, which was also the reason why Valentino was so upset that Angel moved out to live at the hotel.

I can see specific arguments being made for Heluva Boss's Mammon being worse, but Valentino simply has to go. That being said, Val's voice actor, Joel Perez is a very talented voice actor and one of the sweatest and kindest people out there. The fact that some people are scared of him or give him hate mail just because he voices Valentino is wild and completely unacceptable. Valentino has his fans as well. Very small, but very passionate and vocal as well. They like him because he's an excellent villain, not because they condone his horrific actions. A while ago, a Valentino cosplayer was literally harassed and spit on because of the character they were cosplaying as. Ignoring the slander for one of the coolest looking characters designs, this kind of shit irritates me. Some people need to learn to separate reality from fiction.

"Poison" and the relationship between Angel and Valentino is not just about the porn industry. It's about toxic relationships and abuse of power. The porn is a sub-set of this. Every part of it would apply equally in a relationship outside of this particular context. That's what makes it so sad - few of us meet porn actors, but an unfortunately high percentage of us have been in or have friends who have been / are in toxic relationships like this.

Is it still a duet if only one person is singing?

Yes Angel Dust's song is so dark, but soo good. But the character development between Angel and the bartender (can't remember his name) . Youre a loser is a great song too!

Keep in mind that as a top dog in hell you stay alive by knowing when to fight and when not to fight. Zestial is ancient. Amd still alive. That fact alone should terrify every other overlord. It scares normal sinners so much they were murdering themselves just as he walked by. No... Velvette is doing something else here... and it took me a few watches to figure it out. She is trying to goad them into doing something. Because the Vs WANT them all killed in retribution. More power for them to grab. It comes up later in episode 8 during the final song. Of course, the overlords arent all stupid. You get to the top by being smart. Power alone isnt enough.

How dare you down talk Stephanie Beatriz like that! Though in all honesty, I understand, some voice actors hit different to different people, I think she does well to portray a very straight (lol not really) laced serious character. I think she doesn't stand out because the other's are such zany stand out personalities that her reserved and almost militant nature (especially in episode 3) kind of falls to the background as unremarkable. But considering who she is and what she's in the show to do I think Stephanie does a great job in bringing her character to life.
