I actually took a contour class at Sephora pre-Covid. The main points I remember - contour should be cool toned because it’s mimicking shadows. And basically you place it wherever you’d want a shadow on your face so it will emphasize what’s above it.

I am an oily girl and I love the original MUFE powder foundation - always applied with a kabuki brush almost like you would with a bare minerals powder foundation over a well moisturized base. You can always hit it with a setting powder if you're in a pinch but overall it just looks better and better throughout the day with my natural oils which do shine through with time but don't break down the foundation.

I'm truly a powder foundation stan. I won't exclusively use powder foundations but I think they get a bad rap. They're great, especially if you need touch-ups throughout the day and they work really well for oily skin types

@@christyannie83 bahaha oh how I wish I still had under 30 skin 😩 I have worn powder foundation off n on forever but just recently got back into it. I think key for me is good skincare, any liquid products first, and a light hand. I also finish with setting spray which honestly helps everything just settle correctly.

Powder foundation is my go-to, and has been for years. My first -- and still current stand-by -- was MAC Studio Fix, which I usually apply with a kabuki. This method goes on in literally seconds, and gives a light but seamless finish while mattifying, which is the look I prefer. Personally, I love the look of this new MUFE powder foundation on your skin, Lauren! 💗

As a stage performer, I used to really strongly prefer a powder foundation. It looks amazing under stage lights. I'm getting older, though, and my skin has changed enough that powder foundations aren't as flattering on me as they used to be, but for years that was the only type of foundation I bought.

Really enjoyable video and I loved the eye look. I am 57 and when I tried the viral Loreal Infallible powder foundation it was so heavy on me that you could see every fine line and every tiny hair on my face. So I just dust it on as a finishing powder now and it looks beautiful.

I just tried your pallet today and used the two warm browns on my lid, the dark blue and dark brown on the bottom and I really loved the look. The eyeshadow stayed on my eyes without budging or fall out on my face until it took my makeup off - so in total 14 hours, I did use glitter glue for the shimmer because I have old hooded eyes. I think the Smiley pallets are really cute but not for that price I might get them on sale.

The smiley palette with the yellow matte and blue shimmer are giving me Soleil La Plage vibes. I love that colour story and have cannibalised it into my custom palettes. Won't be needing the UD one, but I do enjoy the looks you can get 👍🏻 Today I've been utilising my least used colours once again. Paired the khaki satin from the Peridot quad with the orange/green topper from the Break The Rules palette. My look is LOVELY! Why have I not been using these colours?! 😆 Turns out, on my pale skin, the khaki gives me a dulled antique gold sheen and I love it so much 🥰 I am thoroughly enjoying my little challenge to use my least used/loved shadows. Your channel is a continued inspiration and I very much enjoy what you have been putting out there x

From someone who LOVES powder foundation... I usually use a moisturizing primer, then I use a little bit of concealer under my eyes and over some of my darker spots on my face. I prefer to buff the foundation on a lot. The more you buff (with not tons of product on your brush each time) the more natural it looks. I use a setting powder separately under my eyes if I did put on concealer that day. I don't typically wear cream products (like blush and stuff) underneath on my powder foundation days, so I can't give advice on that! I love how fast it is to just rub it all in super fast though compared to a traditional foundation.
@Reiliferei

wow that powder is made for the camera, so blurring. I know Kelly Gooch recommend applying powder foundations with a dense foundation brush & really buff it in. I think the "smiley" theme is UD trying to get Gen Z attention with the 90's/ Y2K relevance.

I don’t use liquid or cream foundation, and instead only spot conceal and top off/buff my makeup with a light dusting of powder foundation at the end to add a little extra coverage. It creates a lighter, more natural base for me which I prefer over heavy foundation, and helps to tone down blush and contour if I get a little heavy-handed with it.

Hey Lauren. Try the powder foundation with different brushes. That sponge can really lay it on thick which is fine if you want the coverage. But for a less matte look I think a brush is the way to go

I’m an oily girl and I swear by powder foundation day to day when I go to work. I apply with a big brush and apply in circles and then use a velvet sponge to pack on coverage in certain areas as needed (over breakouts). I find it so much easier to slap on than liquid foundation and it looks very natural even if I build it up (unlike some liquids that can turn cakey very quickly)

I’m in my mid 50s with normal to dry skin and have recently gone down the powder foundation rabbit hole. If you moisturise your base, use a finishing spray and don’t cake them on, they are comparative to liquid foundations. Whether I’m using a liquid or a powder foundation I like a well hydrated base. The modern powder foundations don’t have to be flat and dry, use a brush, blend it and they look and perform great.

I have dry, aging skin (I'm 44), and I actually really like powder foundation - specifically the Shiseido synchro skin powder foundation. I find, for me at least, after applying, I give my face a light once over with a hydrating spray, like mac fix+ or Dr. jart tigergrass calming spray (but not a setting spray), and it transforms the powder foundation into a skin-like finish. I will also buff it in with a super soft brush like the Shiseido polishing brush, after applying with the puff/sponge. It wears off really evenly over the day, and is super lightweight, and looks really natural. I also prep my skin before applying with a decent moisturizer.

For me, the trick with powder foundations is to apply a base layer with the coverage you want, lightly spray setting spray or equivalent. Then very lightly go over spots where you get breakthrough usually like the T Zone. This locks in the coverage, maintains smooth pores, and it doesn’t get cakey this way…for me. Granted there are some powder foundations that no matter what I do look meh…like the Covergirl foundations (brown packaging & smells like Noxema).

Taylor Wynn has some demo videos on using powder foundation (I think she prefers the one by J Cat) & how to prep your skin for it. She also uses a setting spray to get it to look more skin-like. Her videos might have some tips that are helpful even if not the exact same products/brands. That blue is super pretty. I love a turquoise blue paired with peach & warm toned browns. It's the only "pop of blue" that I feel I can pull off having more hazel-olive eyes.

Try applying the powder foundation with a barely damp sponge. You can also spray some fix plus on the sponge and/or over your whole face once the base is down. The fix plus brings some life back to the face.

I do like powder foundation in the warmer months. It is easy to just throw on my face with a fluffy brush for a little coverage. I used to buff it into my skin with a stippling brush for more coverage. All cream products go on first. If you have dry skin, apply it over a moisturizer, oil, or primer and let it sit for a few minutes. I would recommend using a glowy setting spray if you get that powder look at the end.

I then powder my under eye with the Kosas setting powder. Then I go in with the powder foundation! My cheek products are all powder so those go after! I love the coverage (medium) and longevity it gives me! I use the Sephora flat sponges for application, btw!

Just a little suggestion, i wouldn’t draw contour directly on the face because it can be hard to blend that way. Maybe try putting the stick product on the brush you intend to blend with and then putting it on the face. Might help blend easier without al that aggressive rubbing and might make the color come off better

I love the sponge pads that come with this powder foundation and the estee layer one. The velvet side just airbrushes and blurs my skin! I never understand why people on KZbin say “I don’t use the pad” Use the pad! Way better than a brush. Totally different experience. The powder foundation showes you later while wearing it the perks. It lasts and when my pills come through it a soft glow. Can touch up and be matte again. Give it a chance

I contour in a similar way to what you did in this video! When I do it, i try to think about applying the product to the 'underside' of my cheekbone (if you feel your face you'll get what I mean 😅) and then apply a smaller dot behind where my dimples are. It gives the model cheekbones without looking too hollow or unnatural like the single line does on me ❤️

Girl! Never used a powder foundation? Let me tell you where it’s at. The Laura Geller powder foundations- specifically the balance and brighten and also the fuller coverage one used in conjunction with each other. I describe them as like an hourglass ambient lighting powder but with coverage. Glowing. Coverage. No chalkiness. Use it over a little concealer or lightweight foundation if you want tons of coverage. And the sales on Laura’s website- you can get it really affordable. And I don’t like applying with a sponge. A dense, round top kabuki tapped/buffed works best for me. I like the luxie 532 brush best!

Ciao Lauren. I enjoy using powder foundation but I strugled finding the right ones that suit my dry skin. Mineral based powder foundation works the best for me such as the Laura Geller baked ones (I mix 2 shades of 2 finishes to have my best) Another powder foundation I really like is the Nude by nature loose powder foundation in shade N2 in winter and I mix with C2 during summer. I recently tried the Makeup Revolution pressed one in shade P4 but I think it is out of stock. Another great one is the Smashbox Halo but the shade range is missing some shades. I moisturize well before using powder foundation and for log wear I will use a gripping primer before. I really enjoy watching your videos. Thanks

I know I am much older than you are but if I can make Mac Studio Fix and Fenty look good on my mature skin, it would beautiful on you. I’m surprised you never tried bare minerals powder foundation. I’m much older than you and I have huge pores on my nose and forehead as well as deep forehead lines, and all liquid foundations were just looking horrendous on me. Last year, after about 12 years, I went back to the BM loose powder foundation and I love it. You can definitely use creams on top of it. I use a variety of brush types, but o we the pores, it’s a dense flat top brush and I buff in circular motions one way and then the other.
