I Made a Bridal Bouquet for FREE!

Would you walk down the aisle with this bridal bouquet made entirely from weeds? I challenged myself to make a wildflower style bouquet completely free from the weeds nearby.
This was a fun challenge, but I don't recommend doing this for your wedding for many reasons--mostly because you don't want to spread the weeds and their seeds to other locations when someone tosses the bouquet in their compost. If you do decide to forage, please consult your area's noxious weeds lists, and don't pick any protected wildflowers!

What amazes me is that so much of what others think of as weeds are many times medicinal plants! Thank you for speaking about how folks need to be careful in harvesting - for our safety and for the plants. That bouquet is very pretty and I love, love, love a natural "from the wild" look. Many of the bouquets I bring in our home are a mix of what others think of as weeds and herbs. Its great fun to go out in the woods or on the prairie where we live and just look around at the variety of what is out there.

I made my wedding bouquet and flower crowns with flowers from around our property. It was my first summer here and was excited find clover, yarrow, vetch, and ferns. I'm greeted by them every July now!

I forage the ditches and fields a few blocks from my house to make bouquets. The wild sunflowers, daises, wild amaranth and grasses have been exceptionally prolific this year. Wish I could post a picture of the bouquet I recently made.

One of my August goals is to go out and pick a wild flower bouquet. I have been picking golden rod to use for a dye for my cotton rope baskets.

It always kind of feels like a low blow when people say something about some of the flowers in my bouquets being "wildflowers" as if I just went into a field & gathered all the flowers &/or put in zero effort to grow them... I dont know if thats how theyre meani g it, but thats how I take it... Now I realize in your case, in this video, you did just that, but that's not usually the case... but it still took you a lot of effort to harvest, process (strip leaves, trim side shoots, etc.), & arrange... even woth foraging all of the Ingredients. But usually there's a lot of hard work that goes into seed starting everything, transplanting, watering, weeding, fertilizing, etc.! Just because they're "wildflowers" doesn't mean they are wild in my yard, & just effortlessly popping up everywhere?!? 🤨
