You were able to vote up POI pictures in ingress to get gyms in those locations, but they have stopped that. I have managed to get a stop and a gym right near my home after many attempts. Our town with about 1500 people had 3 stops and 3 gyms in 2016 and thanks to help from other players it now has 109 stops and 24 gyms.

What you said is true Daxi! The way they select which Pokestop in an S2 Level 14 Cell to become a gym is based off the total likes of all the photos of the Pokestop. That is why Pokestops with more photos tend to be selected to become Gyms, as having more photos would mean more likes overall. There have been Pokestops in my country that have turned into gyms despite having one or two photos, compared to other stops with 3-5 photos, but that's because multiple people decided to like those few photos more than the other Pokestops in the same Level 14 Cell.

This is kind of half true. They prefer to make something closer and visible from the street a gym. I had done the like a photo back in 2021 and when i submitted a church, the church became a gym instead of the fountain at a flower shop I had gotten approved prior.

My friends and I nominated most of Pokestops in our area -4 Pokestops in spinning radius around my place & 1 power spot. At the beginning of Pokemon GO, we need to walk 1 - 2 km to local mall to play, now we can play around the village. By the way, our sport club was became Ex Gym, but after a few ex raids, the owner asked Niantic to remove it because of big ground of trainers gathering (20+ trainers on every ex raid)

I've also found the wayfarer bot to be absolutely useless, just appeal all its rejections and get an actual person to look at the stop, more often than not they will approve it cause the bot is just useless. Often means things go faster too. If you get an auto rejection, you can appeal it right away and those get decided on within a few days, so you could make a stop in as little as a week if you get unluckily lucky I guess you could say.

I can say from my own experience that interacting with a stop to turn it into a gym has worked 100% of the time for me and a couple of local wayfarers. We will all very specifically nominate the "to become a gym" stop first, wait for it to show up in game, add extra photos, like the photos, spin it, etc, and THEN add the 2nd stop. And when that 2nd stop goes in, the 1st one will become the gym, so far without fail. Been doing it that way for years now. It becomes random when there's barely any interaction on the first stop and the game just picks one, but interacting with the first stop has worked too many time consistently for me to believe that's been random luck for all us local wayfarers.

Duuude...I've learned so much from you..but here we NEED to discuss some stuff! I mean I don't get a home gym...I get a minimum of home gym, cluster of 3-4 stops, possibly a dynamax stop (or whatever they are called, i hate this feature)...and not at home - at EVERY point of interest I have - homes I've lived, work locations, beach I go, even Shisha I go regularly. I mean it takes effort and patience and honestly one location can take an year and if it is on long distance like the sea - it can take multiple years. But you need to be persistent - EVERY place has multiple things that actually count for nominations. And you can get it working a few ways: 1. Do NOT only look at wayfarer rules - look what the local community accepts! I''ve seen stuff which are not 100% according to the rules but at the same time the local community has 10s if not 100s of those nomination kinds and they accept them and honestly as a player I do find them relevant. And at the end of the day, if the bot doesn't get them it will be the community that evaluates them. So this point is important 2. If you are SURE that a spot is legal and deserves to be a stop and makes a good nomination - be persistent. Again, most of the time people are evaluating them and there is a great deal of subjectivity. 3.. You do not need to be 100% accurate with location - and here I am NOT talking about cheating the rules - this is IN the rules. I don't remember the exact distance but Niantic allowed for a certain meters off the actual location as long as it is visible from the place of the nomination. Why am I saying this? Well because this is the most common use case - when you have something like your mall there are multiple great things to be nominated but they are in the same square. So spread them around, nominate them in the square right next to it, as long as it is close and visible it IS valid. Just explain it in the extra information. More over, I have had stops which are declined, after which I open an Appeal, explain in detail the relevance and the location details and the actual Nia team approve it. 4. Going back to the appeals, USE THEM. Sometimes it is ultra fast, sometimes it is mega slow but maybe in 70% of the cases when I have appealed something, I won the appeal and got a new stop Just be careful - I am not sure how or why but in some cases after appeal the nomination is moved slightly off, which can actually get it in a taken cell so if you plan to do that, don't place nomination on the edge of the cell, I''ve lost a few spots this way. 5. One last thing which goes back to the end of the last point and to your decision to not do overlapping nomination. In general I agreed with this approach but with dynamax this changed. Because now dynamax stops are appearing exactly in such places where a few portals live in the same cell and thus only one appears as a pokestop. Well I guess niantic decided to use those for the new feature. And exactly the portals that I referered to in last point, that were moved slightly after an appeal and did not show up because of existing portal in the cell - well all of those are now magically a dynamax sports. In pokemon go there can only be 1pokestop/gym In a particular cell. If your nomination got added to ingress but not pokemon go it means there is already a pokestop/gym in that cell. If you watch the beginning of his video he explains cells and cell blocks.

During my internship to Malta i was living with a family and luckily the convenience shop nearby was a Gym stop , it was just perfect just from my room i could do dailies and not miss a single day. I think what’s important for people to remember , is you are nominating waypoints not Pokestops. It can be approved and not appear in the game. Obviously there are ways you can do your best to have the highest chance to appear but it’s always possible it will not.

I haven't nominated a poke stop for a long time. It took months for the nomination to be accepted and I needed to evaluate MANY potential stops for my nomination to even be considered. Have the requirements changed? Also, 1. In the past people were not allowed in photos. Now I see stops with people in them. 2. Schools were a nono. Now I see poke stops at schools.

I stopped nominating stops because I was afraid of being suspended or having my PoGo account taken away. I live in a semi rural area so I'm 3 blocks away from miles of farm fields and about 2 miles away from stores or other 'places of note' so kinda suburb land-locked. So I had to get creative and was able to get stops on an apartment complex playground, a volleyball area & a little library. Another player got the other small play structure & the tennis courts. That triggered one of mine to become a gym so that's cool but I want to put the pool as another stop to maybe trigger another gym but don't know if it's worth the chance of my account being taken away. 😢

So sorry, Daxi :( Normal Barber shops, even if locally popular, are sadly almost always ineligible. They typically aren't places meant for the type of socialization that the Wayfarer criteria require. They also don't really meet any criteria for a great place for exploration unless there was something really exceptional about them, like if they had won some type of award/s or had some unique or significant qualities that really makes them stand out from just an ordinary or common local barber shop, or if the barber shop is very famous even outside the local community for some specific reason. I don't know if this Barber shop had any of these qualities mentioned, but it sadly is very unlikely it will ever get accepted, sorry to say. Unfortunate as it is, the Machine Learning did probably review the Barber shop submissons correctly. :(

Basically if you take videos of pokestops/gyms it powers it up for a small amount of time 1-3 days or something, which then gives you more items when you spin it. Think the "scan" button is somewhere on the stop

Not Daxi - but the time of the process differs depending on a bunch of factors. One of them is density and another is active nominations in surrounding cells that slow it down. I've had a stop be accepted and processed in a single day, but also have some that took multiple weeks.

Try posting them in the wayfarer discussion boards/forum. See what other reviewers think. I have found this to be super helpful. Sometimes other people notice things that I didn't that make it ineligible or if it is a good nomination they can offer constructive criticism and feedback of how to improve and help get it passed through. Power Spots use existing generic business addresses from Google AND nominated wayspot locations. The former you can't control, but you can nominate your own. The usual rule of "1 nomination per S2 L17 cell" still applies for pokestops and gyms, but additional wayspots can be made in the same cell as an existing pokestop, and those can then become power spots. In the past, additional nominations in the same cell were worthless to PoGo players. You will need multiple POI in the same cell in order to create a Power Spot, though, as the first ones will always become a pokestop, not a power spot.

For everyone in the comments without proof claiming something about this point system with thr arena: i have created over like 40 pokestops: 24 turned into pokestops 7 turned into gyms i created like 2 Homegyms at my parents place every pokestop that turned into a gym, in my experience of CREATING 7 Gyms ( 2023-2024) was that it always takes the pokestop who was there the longest and then makes it into a gym DON'T trust random YT that dont FACT CHECK /link sources/proof and spread rumors if you want to create your own home gym: scout the area check the map and see if its possible dont rely on this obscure point system which is just based of a rumor...

ahh and to put a cherry on top i moved like two months ago and i also created a pokestop for myself in front of my house and bc i KNOW WHAT I DO AND KNOW WHAT WORKS and what dont my stop was put in Friday and got accepted and voted on in 3 days and was in po go on sunday THIS IS ALWAYS like this and NOT LUCK based SINCE every last 3 pokestop i requested were accepted+put into the game in minimum 2 days (mix of gyms/pokestops)
