i was at the "Self Serve" dog wash today, and a group of people brought in a bunch of cats! I channeled "what would Cesar do" to keep calm and keep my dog calm and intuned to her bath. The women with the cats were excitable, (they even broke the six foot distance thing 😒🙄) to try and figure out if my dog was going to react to their cats. "Ooooh she's sooo calm! HI!!! BIG GIRL!!!" -Just ALL kinds of nonsense! But I kept calm and when the woman lingered in my face and too close to me and my dog, I calmly turned my back to her and walked over to get my shampoo, to put distance between us, and I think she got the message cuz she backed up a few feet...They were kind ladies but ANNOYINGLY kind, and I had to stay in-tune to my dog so that she didn't get aggressive toward the cats. After a while one woman said, "so she must LIKE CATS! HUH? sHE'S SO CALM!!!" - I go, "no, she can get aggressive with smaller animals and cats" (which she does off leash) but I go, "She's pretty good on leash, so she's going to react the way I want her to react right now"...lucky for us, the store owners caught wind of the commotion the ladies were trying to stir and the store owner cam e and helped them hurry and wash their 3-4 cats, got them in and out. I appreciated they saw I was controlling my dog's reaction to the cats, so the store people controlled the ladies with the cats. Anyway, I couldn't have done that today without having learned what I learned from Cesar about calm energy, and breathing techniques...

@@privateprivate5302 I use Cesar’s calm techniques with both my dogs and cats. By watching and rewatching his videos I trained my pit lab mix not to respond to yappy little dogs straining on their leashes, which seemed like aggression to her. I have found that many people who have small dogs are fearful and overprotective with their animals, teach them to lack confidence, and avoid socializing their animals. We had an issue with that after moving from a house to an apartment building with mostly small dogs. She learned as soon as I brought her home 14 years ago that cats were off limits and leaves them alone wherever they are. She is now very calm, relaxed and safe around all dogs. We just came from hanging out with my sister and a couple of friends, along with a mini poodle and chihuahua mix.

@@julieedinger2462 she actually bit a dog that came running towards us soon after I moved here. Luckily, I was standing and speaking to the building manager when it occurred, and she agreed it was no more my fault than the other dog owner’s. I had to pay over $800 as my part of the bill. There was only one bite and it was over, but it got infected. After that, I changed to the type of short slip leash Cesar recommends and obsessively studied his videos, working hard with her to let her know I was in control and we didn’t need to fear those yappy dogs. That was 2014. She became safe around any dog, and even the owner of the dog she bit loves her. She doesn’t bring her dog outside, sadly, because he just doesn’t like other dogs and got bitten by another one a few years later. If she had only used Cesar’s approach her poor dachshund could have had a much better life. My girl is turning 14, and completely sweet and mellow around everyone.

Junior is such an amazing pitbull ambassador. Cesar, I love how you have always been teaching people to look beyond the breed and see the species and the animal soul in dogs. I got a chihuahua this year, and I CANNOT tell you how often people tell me they are surprised to see my dog do everything he can do, because they assumed chihuahuas were just little, dumb barking machines. Well, I see him as a dog and as a powerful animal. So he is treated that way. I give him jobs, boundaries and structure. He gets respect through the ability I give him to use his animal abilities. He does agility and obedience with me, and is an incredibly social dog who is respectful and friendly with small children. Soon he will start to train to become a therapy dog and go for visits at senior centers. So, just like Junior the pit bull or other misunderstood breeds, he will be an ambassador for his breed. 💕

Several years ago when Cesar was on TV regularly, I had a strong dog 🐕 & I bought the Original background made of Nylon, had straps & 1 compartment on each side that I'd put full water 💧 bottles in cause it's exactly what I saw 👀 him helping a client w/a strong dog about the size of Daddy when he was much younger! Either way it's the SAME concept here w/paper or buying a heavier one! THEY WORK for SURE!!!

there are baby steps you take before doing anything like this... you watch “closely” to Cesar’s dog training videos sometimes it will take going over them ,, getting each step down perfectly and your dog will come around with this technique...takes patience, eye contact and especially calm energy.. (small pierces of a treat) helps only when they seat an stay calm.
