Seriously. He addressed not only the initial mistake but also his doubling down multiple times, as well as apologizing multiple times to the victims as well as the others he’s hurt. He’s not even pretending this 12 min apology video fixes any of the harm he caused with his carelessness, and committed to making a positive change, one his critics as well as his viewers can hold him accountable to. I had stopped watching this channel for a while because I could see his content getting more surface-level, emotional and toxic. I’m now gonna stick around now for at least a couple future vids to see if he does start putting more thought and care into his content, especially because I choose to believe in people rather than dismiss them. Even if it’s all an act and his content doesn’t change, I’d still rather that I gave him another chance than just be part of the angry mob that is the the toxic, vengeful aspects of cancel culture. Just my own personal (perhaps a bit long winded) opinion, one that I don’t expect anyone, including Nick’s current subscribers, to share; I just wanted to agree with the comment, and that the depth, vulnerability and quality of this apology video was at least bringing one former viewer back to see how well he keeps his commitment (and may or may not have rolled my eyes a bit at the simplistic, dismissive reply right below the comment).
@aj_12x2311 ай бұрын
@@BBallRambling What do you want him to do? What outcome are you legitimately hoping for here? This reaction is so antithetical to actual victim-focused justice. What is the better alternative to a sincere apology? That he keep ignoring it forever until y'all burn out from being annoying and move on? Double down for a 6th time? Bend spacetime and start over from the beginning? The damage is done, he can't undo it. You have to figure out how to cope with that reality. All he can do now is make better choices going forward, and this is one of them. The victims deserve an apology - why are you mad that they are getting it? The victims deserve to see Nick take accountability and have an honest reckoning with his pattern of harmful behavior - why is it so upsetting for you to know he is giving them that? The victims deserve to hear Nick articulate what his mistakes were, what he believes caused him to behave the way he did, and what steps he is taking to mitigate any further harm to them, as well as how he is going to ensure that he acts appropriately under similar circumstances moving forward - why would you prefer that he regress and continue perpetuating harm? Does yapping in his comments really make you feel that righteous? Is this activity a large source of your self-esteem and sense of moral superiority? You can't think of anything more productive to do with your fingers? Because right now you have planted yourself on the "growth averse and anti-apology" end of the spectrum, and there really doesn't seem like a more logical explanation than simple projection coming from some unhealed part of yourself. Idk, that kinda makes you seem like a similarly intrinsically flawed person who is also perpetuating harm and who probably doesn't really have a leg to stand on here.

Listen, man. The fact that you’ve waited this long and uploaded/deleted multiple apologies leads me to believe one of 2 things: 1- You were genuinely trying hard to find the right things to say in your apology and hold yourself responsible 2- In some way, for whatever motive, you are being deceptive. Only your actions going forward will tell us which it is. Don’t disappoint us, man.

this is more a broader comment on the topic of people changing than solely about nick's response here, but just because someone took longer than you would like to come to the realization that they were wrong doesn't mean that when they do get to that point that they aren't being genuine. if you are someone with a tendency to get immediately defensive when challenged, it can take a long time to reach a point where you realize just how wrong you've been. it's not good, in fact it can be very harmful and hurt others as seen in this situation. but it's possible for people to step back and take a long time to reflect and their actions once their emotions are less at the forefront. i also think that it's a bit weird that (some) people are insinuating that people shouldn't be mad at this anymore and that "everyone makes mistakes". it feels dismissive of the very real harm caused in this situation, and implies that just because someone gives a good apology means that you have to forgive them right away, or at all. i think that both things can be true at once: people who have done very hurtful things can change even after a long time, and also people don't have to forgive them or act like everything is fine just because they apologized. there are people in my life who really hurt me and I will never speak to them again, but I also recognize that they may have changed and be a better person now. it's not my job to easily forgive and forget, but also those people deserve a chance to change and grow. people aren't entitled to second chances from the individuals they hurt, but that doesn't mean they can't improve and do better around others. this was a long ramble but i feel like i'm seeing a lot of extremes in the comments when i feel the idea that accepting that people can change for the better = insinuation that you must forgive them is just not true
@vLingLing11 ай бұрын
Best comment I've seen about this. While one is not required to accept another's apology (and tbh I won't be accepting this one until I see real, tangible growth from Nick) it's really disingenuous to play the "you took too long" card on someone who is at least trying to reflect and think about their actions. You made so many good points!! People in the comments are being ridiculously unforgiving for an apology that wasn't even for most of them. They are OBVIOUSLY apart of a hate train and bullying. He stated every reason as to why people have disliked his content as well as linking a video that literally points out every reason as to why HE is in the wrong. That is an incredible amount of humility to have. Yes it might take an entire fan base, yes it might take 6 months, yes it might take trial and error. But being told the work you do, the impact it has and you as a person is flawed in many ways, is damaging and incredibly embarrassing to face. Most people could never be able to take that much criticism and respond to it in a perfect, rationale way from the very beginning. It takes people a lifetime to work through the personality flaws they have starting from the roots, and him trying to fix his traits and addressing it is commendable regardless of the tries he took before. I don't get why so many people are so mad that he made several apologies before this. THAT is real change and effort compared to influencers putting on a facade and crying for the camera then continuing as if nothing else happened.
@infinitymixtapes956210 ай бұрын
I don't think the issue is he took too long, people are taking umbrage with the fact that he made four or five other "apology videos" doubling and tripling down. After a career of criticizing and mocking other people's apology videos. And in one of those videos, he essentially threw an SA victim under the bus and called anyone who disagreed a "reddit debate bro dork". It took several video essays about his behavior. a bleeding subscriber count and his friends turning on him for us to get this apology. Basically, people have a hard time believing an apology when apologizing is the literal last option

Ever since SuperMega drama, your content and opinions have really gone down hill. Your content needs to change becsuse its harmful, yes, but does this mean youll go back to your OG stuff? Or are you just a different person now? Thats what us casual fans want to know.

What is funny is all of Nick’s fans fighting for him these past 6 months are now also fighting for him while he says the exact opposite of what he said 6 months ago. It’s as if they will do whatever Nick wants and there is nothing he can do to lose some of them.

why ppl are praising a person bc they're apologizing? like if they are not the one who did the wrong thing? he is doing the basic, accept the apologies but you dont have to kiss the ground he walks just bc he did THE BARE MINIMUM after the things he done and how he grew w that. im not saying he needs to be punished or anything, but the way ppl are reacting is almost like if you're encouraging him to repeat the patterns as long as he make a "proper apology" later. like cool, nice video and apology, but is just a video, not a real demonstration of change, take it easy public this is just a random guy on KZbin, no need to react as if he never did anything wrong at all. in resume: calm down you don't need to go crazy, write a serenade, and piss your pants just because a guy you watch on KZbin (apparently) recognized his mistakes and JUST NOW after many call-outs its figuring out how to properly say sorry. 👍 the sooner you heavily detach from these content creators the easier life will get for both audience and said public figure.

I've never seen so many people actually support a KZbinr's apology before, but you definitely deserve it. I've watched your content for awhile now so I was worried when this whole situation happened. Props to you for owning up and addressing the situation without making yourself the victim

He fully deserved the backlash. And his doubling down for so long made me completely avoid him and look down on his character. Damn it’s good to see this thorough of an apology with detailed accountability. Huge wrongs require huge apologies and amends, and I’m kind of taken aback to see it. Hope he continues to do the right thing, it’s restoring some faith I lost.
@tyewilliams711311 ай бұрын
This is not the case. This is like his 3rd or 4th apology now and each one more shitty then the last. Yeah im guessing after the 4th apology video he should have actually owned up to it but it took so long that this apology feels beyond stale, and feels fake. This exact apology should have been his first one MONTHS ago. Its so annoying how any content creator can get away with doing literal murder so long as "Well, he said hes sorry. So what it took months and multiple apologies, constanting mocking of those who he disagreed with and multiple content creators to make videos about him. He said hes sorry guys." He legit was in a helping hand for literally destroying a huge channel. But because he said hes sorry its all good? Wtf
@Michael-kp4bd11 ай бұрын
@@tyewilliams7113 he shouldn’t have done it in the first place either, of course. This is the finally the right direction now. It’s not all good. Your critique that it’s late is incredibly valid - it just don’t change that THIS is finally the right direction To be fair, out of the dozens of top comments I read applauding this apology, I saw ONE that said “it’s all good” and I fully agree with you that that guy is expressing a horrible sentiment. His actions shouldn’t end here. This is just the correct start, and should be encouraged to continue to do the rest of the work to make things right.

after further reflection and watching some other vids weighing in on this whole mess, Nick went from making good content to just punching down on people. i don't get why he made a video laughing about the love surge girl saying she was threatened the way she was. I think the "fame" (using that word generously) got to Nick's head because his content has only been sliding downhill. I've unsubbed.

yesss i left one or two comments about how being on the receiving end should make you reconsider your own content/becoming a drama channel and it’s nice to hear some of that reflection happening. sounds like you’ll still be doing commentary/reaction content but i’m hoping it’s of a much higher caliber that reflects your values and lessons learned because i agree it doesn’t have to be inherently negative
