Jordan and Desiree, you both are very competent and can ride this out. Everybody has problems like this once or maybe a lot more in their lives. There should be some kind of mechanism, order, rules that can be enforced to let only so many boats in an area and that would absolutely solve the problem. Of course humans being what they are can't get together on this, story of the human race. Everybody should be as happy as ESA, thanks much and look forward to your next❤❤❤

If I can help you at all, I suffer from anxiety and depression way the world is now it’s very wishy-washy I have a brand new boat for you to maintain a wife and a daughter. Just those three Would you send a normal man crazy you’re doing a great job learn how to breathe learn how to except the good things that you’ve done each breath each day, measure your accomplishments and sit back in the confidence of your own self reliance. I hope this helps. take care my friend.

Jordan, remember, you were a newbie one time and I’m sure you made some people nervous. We all have a learning curve. If someone maneuvering makes you nervous as long as it doesn’t affect you, offer assistance, teach someone as you’ve been taught. Make a friend, chances are you’ll run into them again down the road. It seems that you look for things to be upset about. You don’t have to be perfect. We are all flawed, just roll with it. Try to embrace your surroundings, boats, people or new environments. Hi Jordan, I’m a psychotherapist and a green sailor. While watching this episode, before you even made the decision to move away from the crowds, I was telling my husband, he needs to avoid those crowed areas and pivot toward what matters and then you came to that insight. I would never suggest that someone should expose themselves to suffering unless they’re trying to overcome a particular fear, like a phobia regarding crowds or learning to be more assertive. Also, Europeans aren’t as sensitive as us Americans. They appreciate the directness. Americans, we kinda avoid it😊You and Desiree figured out how to med moor and in a pinch, you could do it again but 1) it looked stressful 2) no one wants to be on the road with crazy drivers let alone crazy boaters. We admire both you and Desiree’s tenacity and ability to work through a problem. And Desiree has really good hair. Hang in there!

This anchorage is very secluded where very few sailors know about it. You will love it there to relax and unwind. There are two general stores and a couple of cafe's. Jordan, Med mooring goes with the territory. When we sailed in the Med, everyone would moor stern to the quay. That allowed all the locals on their evening stroll to peer into your cabin. I preferred to go in bow first, dropping my anchor off the stern, which gave us privacy and kept the quay dirt and dust out of the cabin. Many Italian harbors are semi-circular so as the Med mooring people anchor, rodes lay over one-another. I wondered how we could leave in the morning with an anchor-rode salad on the bottom of the harbor. In the morning scuba divers are on harbor duty. When you indicate to them you'd like to leave, they'll go down along your rode; get the anchor; untangle your anchor and anchor rode from all the others and hand it back to you. Their charge for their service was very reasonable. In the Med, at Italian ports, boats are very tightly packed. When you arrive there someone will wave at you, and indicate you should moor there. All boats will move a few centimeters and Voila, you have a spot for the night. Italian sailboats also have a gate in the stern rail and many have elegant and elaborate teak boarding ladders - with hand rail - so that you can leave your boat in proper Italian evening "go to dinner" stylish dresses or slacks and silk shirts. The best restaurants, gelato, and clothing stores are all in the quay area. Italian ports also have public baths available. Ask! Enjoy your trip.

I feel your pain. We have only spent 2 seasons in the med and have med moored maybe 5 times total. I pick our anchorage to swing moore and accept a longer dingy ride i also like the privacy. Don't forget nearly all those boats are charters with no experience other than video instruction before their holiday. Wait til October, it's a different world.

Watched you many seasons now and know you have struggled with self doubt, etc but please, please, please....knock off the negative self talk. Not a damn thing wrong with you! Jordan you are so not alone in this overwhelming desire to protect your home/boat and most importantly your family. I have sailed and power boated all over Florida, the keys, Bahamas, Windward and Leeward islands. And although I love being in those beautiful places, the anxiety never fully left. I couldn’t accept boat crews that I knew were inexperienced and dangerous, sketchy anchorages, weather windows that others on our boat didn’t appreciate. I guess I always felt like I was the one who was always expected to have the right answers, and I just was never sure in the moment. And I ultimately I made the choices that kept everyone safe and reasonably happy. But at the decision point I always felt l I should have better skills, be more knowledgeable and better prepared. Excellent narrative. You guys have become masters at observing and moving through life lessons. It's so valuable (and courageously vulnerable of you) to share the process with the world. The Med is mayhem in summer, on land and sea. Your perception seems accurate to me. Good you followed your gut. No need to live like 'everybody else'. You've created an extraordinary life for yourselves. Live that one.

I've found that how I relate to people, especially in social situations comes down to how I deal with my own anxieties and challenging feelings. When I hide from anxiety or suppress it or distract myself from my problems, they get bigger and stronger. When I talk it out, admit I need help and ask for it, ESPECIALLY with the "biggest" stuff, I feel better and deal better. Like with everything else, communication, patience and putting in the work makes all the difference. I used to feel like asking for help was the same as failing, but I've found that the fastest path to failure is to keep pushing myself to go it alone. I get the feeling you might relate to that, Jordan. I hope you find what you need, because so many of us love you guys and wish you the best!

Your worries seem to come from being a protective father and a good partner, I think that’s a good thing. Much respect from a stranger.

I'm sorry to see you experiencing such anxiety and missing out on the charm of some beautiful places because of it. You're on the right track, keeping to more remote places or going to the popular ones off season. Isabella is getting sooooo cute. I just wanna pinch her cheeks and squeeze her 🤗💞

So glad to hear someone else has an aversion to crowds. I personally am annoyed when we go to a tourist spot to “see the sights” and there’s a million other people ruining it. It definitely spoils the ability to enjoy without anxiety because you’re constantly trying to be one step ahead of “that guy”. You’re not broken, you’re responsible and it comes with a price.

Second that, man. I absolutely cannot stand crowds, especially around these supposed highlights. Turn around the corner to lesser known places and you will find other spots not in guidebooks or travel websites that are just as awesome and beautiful, and probably even more. I will actually look up the highlights, only to avoid them, hahaha. The world and even the Med is full of off the beaten path locations and you don't even really have to look for them. Just walk away from the crowds and you will run into them by accident. And it even feels better to have the have 'discovered' them yourself!

Those kinds of anchoring situations with lots of people rubbing shoulders would drive me nuts too man. Nothing wrong with you. Like you said at the end, go to the places you love.. maybe the north seas around scotland and iceland and greenland would suit you better.

Jordan it’s amazing all you guys do. Anxiety is a real thing. At least you are self aware enough to recognize it. Keep well and fair winds.

As an introvert, I energize by being alone. Extroverts energize by being around people. However when Extroverts comes near me they can suck out my strength. I think it is the same with personal space. Some people want space, others want closeness! The latter type of people make me want to take up shooting as a hobby! Jordan, there is NOTHING wrong with you!!!!!! You are simply different that a lot of people. This does not make us wrong, just different. Learn to embrace who you are and accept your uniqueness! You are, from the perspective of a long time viewer, a really great guy. Find your comfort zone, learn toendure the hard times and bask in the good times. Life is about finding the balance! Blessings!!

Thanks for your thoughts on anxiety. When I reach the point of burnout as a skipper after several days of crowded anchorages and docks, and possibly bad weather, I take a few days of rest in a safe harbor or marina. After a few days, the desire to sail and cruise returns. The responsibility is even greater with family and dog on board. I feel you.

You are dealing with this ok , I understand one of the issues with cruising your own boat is everything is new and requires risk analysis and even when you do everything right someone will blunder in and cause chaos, I have even had to get on someone’s boat and show them how to anchor and set stern lines , had to go on a big power cruiser with another sailer and save it from grounding because the owners panicked and would have run over both our ground tackle as they were bashing around . Sometimes we had to just vacate the popular spots and go to he hard to get to anchorages that only competent sailers will navigate, most times over a happily hour beverage we hear even more frightening stories! The break was a wonderful time to recharge!

Best tip for the med. Stay away from everyone, get a long chain (100m at least) and put some more rope and anchor in the deep water so stay out in the bays, then use the dinghy to come in. Avoid Italian boats at all costs.

Living in the south of France and having had a boat here for more than 30 years, I quite understand your feelins. I experienced this every season in Corsica or Ibiza. The mad August crowd of inexperienced sailors who only rent a boat one week a year spoils everything. Keep away from the « must se » places untill the end of September. Love your episodes, you’re a lovely familly
