I OVERLOADED the Sprayer!!

There has been a few comments asking about the added weight when we stretched the tank. The tires came with our 4420 ( old sprayer ). The 4440 with out the tank stretch is more weight than the tires are rated for. That is why we put the 800 tires on the sprayer in the first place.

Try to use a Chain specific dry Lube if you can. Works a lot better.

You could go old school. Bolt a patch on the inside of that tire where the bulge is, using a piece of sidewall from another tire. My grandfather had me do that on his Farmhand the last summer I worked for him. It lasted another 4 years. I thought it was the stupidest thing ever, but after I moved away after college and was out on my own, I started to understand why. Generations born in the early 1900's were of different cloth. You made do with what you had and you devised crafty ways to keep stuff going. I look back and that even was definitely about the lesson.

You need to get a guard on that chain on the conveyor. Chains are very unforgiving.

We use Spraybib 380s for everything and they hold up fine with a 1600 gallon tank. Something like 32 psi front, 34 psi rear. They always look squished, even when empty. But they ride well and hold up. I don't like going over 20 mph with 1600 gallons on my patriot. That's a lot of weight. And I take it real easy on the acceleration. One thing I did was unplug the stupid emergency stop switch on the brake pedal. Now I can use the brake pedal to help me slow down, taking pressure off the hydro. Recirculation and continuous rinse are both great add-ons to that sprayer. Sometimes I'll rinse out three or four times a day, and it takes just 15 minutes with continuous rinse. Then with recirculation to charge the boom there's zero waste. Highly recommend. Raven sells a nice kit with minimal re-plumbing and preserves ability to spray without PWM, or something like the BRS-Boom Recirculation Kit from Nozzle Ninja.

How much extra weight do you estimate you added to the sprayer by expanding the tank capacity?

The 4440 with the 1200 is over the weight capacity of the 320s already. The added weight is about 3300 pounds

Are these the same tires from before the sprayer tank was enlarged? Were the tires load capacity evaluated for the extra weight at that time?

Yes they are the tires that came with the pervious 4420 sprayer. They aren’t rated for the weight of the 4440 with the smaller tank. That’s why we put the 800s on since 90% of the spraying is done with wide tires.

Well… when you have grasshoppers stripping every leaf off the wheat and chickpeas that are starting to get disease in them all costing you $100s of 1,000s of dollars you don’t have days to wait for a $3,000 tire that is most likely a week out. You do what needs to be done.
