10:21 I found a solution to drifting analog sticks. All you need to do is pry open those 2 green containers on the module. There should be a small disc in there. You just have to clean that entire container and the disk with isopropyl alcohol and place the disk in perfectly. Your problem should be solved instantly. Works for me every time, however it’s a temporary solution lasting for about 6 months or as long as a normal analog stick.

Funny you would make a video on this controller, I recently purchased a faulty Xbox One Elite Series 2 controller myself for €79. Upon opening it up, I was kind of shocked at the state of it, I have a hard time understanding what happened to it but I got it to work in the end. It was missing the magnet for the hall effect sensor on the left trigger (I could only find one from an elite series 1 on ebay, figured it would do). The support bracket for the magnet was broken and the broken half was missing as well (I could only find these brackets for either the regular controllers, ended up ordering one for an S controller). The left shoulder button didn't work, didn't even click in (turns out the metal plate it fits onto had been bent a lot, had to realign it). The right trigger rattled when vibrating (had to tighten it down). In the process of opening the previous owner broken one of the little pillar that holds the left bumper in, no biggie, it works fine without that. They also broke one of the structures that holds thee controller fascia into place and they broke one of the structures that holds the silver plastic on the top of the controller into place so it looks slightly misaligned. Anyway, I got it to work fine and I'm happy with that.

@@Tronicsfix I'll have to keep at it. I had a similar issue with an Xbox One Elite Series 1 controller but that had been my mistake, I had moved one SMC with the hot air inadvertently. Fixing that fixed the issue but that is not the case with this rogue DS4 controller. :)
@devoid3227
@devoid3227 4 жыл бұрын
André Coelho I bought a DualShock 4 off eBay which had a broken analog stick/drift issue. I replaced the joystick module and still had the stick drift. There’s two resistors and depending on which way the game character moves with the stick drift, one or both will have to be replaced. The character moves back on its own and won’t move forward so that tells me the resistor on the left has to be changed. You’ll have to keep changing the resistor until you find the right one and luckily I only have had to change it once or twice.
@HumanDelta38
@HumanDelta38 4 жыл бұрын
I had actually fixed one of those a week ago. Drift issue. Fixed it up. There is a website I use to test every controller I work on, which happens to be the site you used. Funny how its registered as a 360 controller.

@@Tronicsfix I will say the gamepad tester app has given me bad readings before. I replaced the sticks on one, tested it with the app, and everything looked fine. I’ve been buying and fixing elite series 1 controllers. I also mod new frames to get them to fit with new bumpers, triggers, and faceplates from the one S/ one x controller. Just got an elite for $15 that just needed one board connector re-soldered.

My thumb sticks had some glue on the threads to keep them from rotating under normal use. Anyways I fix my drift issue with the left thumbstick drifting up and down by pulling the top cover off,then the thumbstick bell,pulling the potmeter away from the board,pulling out the wiper disc,straighting the wiper contact point to where it's the only point that can touch the top outer ring,cleaning the carbon traces with isp. The top ring had a rough spot on it,so I used some Tweezers to Gently clean it being careful to NOT bust up the carbon,then used a #2 pencil to add some carbon back in,then clean the traces again and no more drift. It took about 50 trys of pulling the wiper disc out and getting it straightened just right,tho, so just be patient..

Perfect timing, the RB tactile switch on my Xbox One S Controller is broken. I'm trying to do a repair. This is a great video so many twist and turns but positive result at the very end. I've learned that the stick is calibrated onto the motherboard by Microsoft, so replacing it without calibrating the potentiometer will caused the dead zone to be off.
