I'm caught up through Part 3 now. Have a couple weird things going on. I can't use the smooth modifier because even though I select All_Parts as the vertex group, it wants to smooth everything. My "All_Parts" vertex group also caused issues when trying to make the 4th attribute with the curve to mesh trick. I decided to not use a selection and then it was OK. Also I still have a bit of the body showing past the scales where it meets the fins. To get a different color for each scale, I used a White Noise texture. Then you don't need to do any vector math and you get. Looking forward to the next part!

Thank you if you like the video please consider share the video to help the channel ! and I'm not sure what is the cost of the issue, but if I have to guess I will think it's because of the vertex you select, be sure it's only on the very top of the fins, and not include the side of the fins.

In blender 3.6, the transfer attribute don't exist. How I can remplace this node with the curve ?

It’s difficult for me to tell you where is the problem, because there are many places that can be the cost of this. you just have to check from the distance all the way to the shader , in this pipeline where you have some mistake.
