For almost 2 months, I've been watching this video to hype myself up to get a yoke for my Model 3. Decided to buy the yoke in the middle of January and it finally came in today. After installing it and using it for a few hours, I absolutely love it! It feels more comfortable than a normal wheel, and makes one-handed driving easier than before (for me personally). Definitely appreciate you for this video. Followed all of your steps and installed it smoothly 👍

You don't need to torque it to hell and back, you might shear the bolt head if you do. Instead, use medium strength thread locker for the steering wheel bolt before tightening to the torque spec given in the service manual on Tesla's service website.

Very curious how the yoke works if driving with your elbow on the door and the left “nub” between your pointer and middle finger with thumb down. I hope that makes sense but this is how I drive most of the time. The steering wheel is basically between my pointer and middle finger, with my pointer finger resting on the left spoke and thumb on lower section of the wheel around the 8 o’clock position. Thanks for this video though, been really thinking about getting the yoke for my Model 3.
@CYBRLFT2 жыл бұрын
That sounds very similar to how I cruise around most of the time. Elbow resting on the arm rest in the door, left hand resting with my index finger on the left spoke, thumb down below it. It's incredibly comfortable driving like that. The thicker form of the yoke just makes it feel even better in my opinion. It's been an incredible experience in the time I've had it. Glad you liked the video!

@CYBRLFT Жыл бұрын
That’s awesome! Yeah I’ve installed about 4 yokes now for people near me. The horn went off for me because the center airbag component got stuck on the metal spring bracket and was compressed. I couldn’t get it to pop loose again so I did the tried and true method of hitting it to pop it free 🤣 My yoke was my first time installing one, now I’m basically a pro. I’m a mechanic by trade.

Anxiety is completely understandable. I was too. I spoke to tesla service to make sure it was cool my car was already out of warranty though. Ultimately if you’re uncomfortable maybe find someone to install. There’s added expense to that I’d imagine but an option. Are you in San Diego by any chance? Once I had all the tools I was missing it was honestly super easy.

Is there a difference in how AP/FSD behaves?? I find the regular wheel is annoying and nags too often.
@CYBRLFT2 жыл бұрын
It is quite a bit easier to rest my hand on the wheel which definitely prevents the nag. Absolutely. The yoke is quite a bit heftier at the 9 and 3 position which helps. But that has also led to more frequent unintentional FSD disengagements. Not too bad though.
