I am massively heartbroken, but that experience made me realize I have been allowing vice and distractions to destroy my relationships and the connection to myself. Porn is been there since I was 13. Always replacing the connection I could have had with my partners with cheap quick dopamine. I decided to quit almost 6 months ago. Including alcohol, coffee and social media. You are spot on when you say quitting must have a purpose. I did it because I learned that I was avoiding my feelings because I can't deal with the anxiety and stress. Now there is no more hiding from myself. The results are incredible and much more than I expected. Hi first time viewer here… thank you Dan for your courage and insight. I have no doubt this video will help many men. I’m actually several months in successfully quitting porn and for those just starting please realize that you can do it, it can be done and you will beat this. These videos are always a huge help. In moments of weakness the best thing you can do is to distract yourself. So if you find yourself on the couch feeling weak and feeling that you’re about to break you need to immediately get off the couch and just do something…anything… I would jog around the block or go to Lowe’s and walk around or go to a loved ones house and just visit. As quick as the shameful thoughts appear is as quick as they disappear. Those impure sexual thoughts are to be held hostage by your mind… like literally held in captivity until you the grand master decides what to do with them. and then you starve those thoughts…by not feeding it, it withers away and dies. Keep starving them until they realize there is no food to be found here. A Strong journey is ahead my fellow men.

I'm also a first time viewer, but this is the cold turkey I need to eat. Also, prayer is a good weapon against it. I've been praying to God that He help take away this unhealthy addiction, finally setting me free of it since sex is meant to be a wholly intimate and committed act, not a vice to be vilified. Also, bring my mind back to last year before it started to become the source of my procrastination. For the past several months, a day hardly goes by without me trying to wank off. It's time to start eating the turkey, making it taste like chicken.

Very informative video! My journey started from a challenge in November (NNN), but even after finishing the challenge, it actually took me quite a while to not relapse often. Filling in the void is one of the most important aspects of Nofap. The healthy approach is to correct our dopamine system with real-life successes, with normal level but longer-lasting dopamine release, instead of rapid release of large amount of dopamine and then quench down below baseline very soon after like those we get from PMO.

Gave up all forms of alcohol 1.5 years ago. Gaving up on porn slowly. Becoming more sexually disciplined. My longest streak on no PMO has been 11 days. Next target is 1 month. Going slow and steady.

I couldn't agree more, bravo. There's something I want to emphasize in the "quitting porn for good" part: if you have a *mediocre* life (like me, you don't hang out at all with friends, you don't have many and the few you have are not so diligent, you don't have/realize you have many good habits, let's not talk about girls, etc) porn IS a very important part of your life... So, in order to quit porn for good, you should upgrade your life first and then you deal with porn, if you'll need to (because I felt the urge drastically dropping, but then it came back when I faced the next challenging time)

Appreciate you saying you need to try it and see if it's actually beneficial, a lot of influencers talk about corn like it's objectively evil and will ruin everyone's lives. For me personally I've tried quitting corn and gooning and found if I go too long without it I just get so worked up it's really difficult to focus. For me the three big things that gave me the benefits everyone talked about were 1) treating it like food - eat when you're hungry, not bored 2) keep it to more "normal" stuff rather than trying to keep yourself sensitized and 3) make it something special rather than just blowing in 15 seconds. Like you said, go with what you experience not what others say

For me it has been almost the opposite. Two years since I quit, and my memory, focus, energy and general attention skills have gone downhill. I often think that my brain still hasn't got used to not getting the huge amounts of dopamine it got before. Maybe now I'm too low on dopamine, and that causes a lot of trouble, quite honestly. Still, I'm happy that I've managed to stay clean for so long, and definitely plan to keep on it as long as I can.

Hey Dan, I just came across your channel. The first video that I watched was "I'm 44. If you are in your 20s, watch this." (I am 53 this year.) I was also addicted to porn when someone brought a porn magazine back from the US (I live in Singapore) to our boarding school. I was 12. It wasn't until I was 16 that I came across video porn. Back in the late 80s, porn was only available on VHS, and you really had to go to some shady places in Malaysia and Singapore to find them. Porn short circuits your brain, and the temptation is so great that it will lead you to take some significant risks, and I am not talking about our parents finding out. Where I grew up, it could mean getting into trouble with the Law. Kudos to you for being open and transparent in sharing your story. It takes great courage and vulnerability to do so. You are providing excellent public service. I am rooting for you, and I am going to learn from your KZbin channel how I can share my story and inspire others.

You went through this experience, so you can find the solution to share and help others. Thank you for service. Your explanations and advices make most psychological senses. I need to replace my bad habit with positive habits. Edit: I still can recall my shameful experience the first time buying a porn DVD and magazine when I was an 18 years old back in the late 1990s. I told the clerk that I bought them for my uncle. 😂 I am on my journey quitting it now.

One thing that works for some people with addiction, is everytime you want the addiction, you do some kind of excercise instread. Like pushups, or going for a walk. Both are great for me atleast
