In rom hacks pursuit probably goes up to B tier for being really good in an early game but too situational in late game because base 40 is not great.

@@nebulous9280 the tier list for the ai probably prioritizes power and potential damage more than it does accuracy, because while you need to hit every time, the ai only needs to hit once to be devastating to a player. So moves like dynamicpunch and horn drill become really scary, and anything that can mess with switching is terrifying. Consistent, high damage moves like earthquake and ice beam remain high tier for both, but the ais scariest moves are inconsistent ones, while the players scariest moves are consistent ones.

I think you underrated fling a bit. Yes, it’s quite niche, but I’d argue that for a lot of strategies, it can facilitate wins like nothing else. It’s great on fast mons if you don’t have fake out, because it allows you to safely break sash with razor fang, and it gets some other general value through being a pretty strong move with something like iron ball

Only issue is, correct me if I'm wrong, using fling in a lot of pokemon games causes you to lose the item after the battle, making it a 1 or 2-time gimmick, since razor fangs/kings rocks arent the easiest to come by (well, ig u can iten hunt hawluchas for the latter, but...) Nonetheless, fling can be useful move

You usually get psybeam pretty soon after confusion, but the same generally applies with water gun and bubblebeam or water pulse. I guess water is just a better and more common offensive typing.

Confusion against dark types, rock types etc. It's good against the poison types early, but it just maybe confuses and you're better early on with water gun or ember. Even peck is better, since most of the poison types are bug anyways. I see the reason to downgrade it a lot. And if you think about it, confusion only gets value after at least one evolution and at that point you probably have psybeam.

Worth noting that all the S tier moves are essentially a free turn, or are accomplishing something that takes a turn. The easiest one to explain there is fake out where you remove the opponent's turn while still getting to do damage, leaving you with a net extra turn. All the switching moves accomplish something that takes a whole turn, while still letting you do damage, essentially mimicking the effects of you getting a free turn to attack and then switching out on your normal turn. The last 3 S tier moves accomplish this by letting you setup before the battle, which was mentioned in the video as being similar to using swords dance but without taking a turn to do it.

Confusion I think is underrated. It is the best Psychic attack you have until you get Psybeam a bit later, and 50 is pretty strong at the beginning of the game. Rapid Spin is similarly underrated, in a modern context. Yeah in Gens 2-7 it's merely a competitive tool, but Gen 8 onward +1 Speed while attacking on slower Pokemon like Donphan, Excadrill, Tsareena, and Hitmontop is like at least worth a C-Tier placing.

I'm currently playing White 2 Kaizo and forgot how normally bad a lot of these moves are. But the move changes like multi hit moves all being 25BP 100% and spread moves have made me forget what's good and bad. Also brilliant ad read.

I just wanna add a note about how broken flail is in PMD You’re almost always going to have low health in a boss fight, and I was able to reach up to 200 damage at only level 40 as an eevee, it one-shot everything it touched
