I think it’s pretty obvious that the persona series is very much influenced by anime in many ways. this ranges from the visual style, humour, and even certain character tropes featured within the games. Most of these games even feature 2d hand-drawn cutscenes on occasion. while some people try to argue that this is a trend only featured in the most recent games, it can be traced back to the original persona. Man who would’ve thought that the Japanese game made for Japanese audiences would take inspiration from Japanese media. While we can argue all day whether or not this attempt at emulation is a benefit to the franchise or not, I’m sure we can all agree on one thing. The opening movies produced for these games are pretty fire. Persona openings are legendary. They’re all these intricate and exciting pieces that are just pure eye candy and have some of the best bops you can find in the industry. At the same time though, their main purpose is to help establish the tone and set expectations. I think every opening does a good job at this to some extent, but we all know how it goes. When a long running franchise is constantly putting out bangers, we gotta ask the obvious question… which game has the best opening?
I Ranked EVERY Persona Opening. In this Persona Openings tier list video, I'm going to be reviewing and ranking every single Persona Opening movie. This includes mainline and spinoff games. the only ones excluded are the Persona Anime Openings because I don't count them as a part of the main franchise. Every Persona Opening Ranked or Persona Openings Ranked From Worst to Best is an opinionated piece that looks at the Persona Opening Movies from a more artistic perspective rather than just judging them based off of their music. Persona Openings have a lot of great qualities to them and in this Persona Openings Ranked I hope to highlight some of those lesser-discussed aspects. I Ranked Every Persona Opening by Nam's Compendium is a great spot to learn something new and have a little bit of fun. Don't take it too seriously.

@@WickedKillaYT idk 'bout you but the intro of P1 PSP does fit well to the games narrative. It did show cutscenes that we're relevant to the game's plots not just gameplay footage and it was only for like 20 seconds. The song (while the tone doesn't fit P1) still has lyrics that do summarise a good chunk of it's themes. The intro also doesn't completely spoil the game rotten (like p3fes). Something like p3fes is too focused on showcasing all the new additions, rather than being an interesting intro. Plus it spoiles the heck out of the game, the game was advertised as the definitive P3 experience so a new player looking to play P3 is probably going to to watch it. So personally it feels weird seeing it below glorified trailers.

​@Latestmustace if I had to guess, because FES is being seen as The Answer- it having spoilers sets up for a postgame story, as a quick refresh for people that already beat The Journey when the original game came out, and it having gameplay is good, because The Answer is more focused on being difficult

Another fun detail about Full Moon Full Life is during the last shot where Makoto throws his MP3 player, you can see him disappearing in the background while the silhouette of the other SEES members remain, foreshadowing his fate at the end of the journey.

Finallty some legit love for Road Less Taken. It's so addicting to watch. The color blending, Joker's silly karaoke, Kamoshida's stupid rapping, and how the three singers from P3, 4 and 5 harmonize into the song. It's also the swan song for thw 3ds as it was the last game released for the system.

Finally, some love for the PS1 Innocent Sin intro!! I love the PSP intro too, but I think the PS1 version is definitely better in terms of tone and aesthetics. I do find the action shots to be a bit cheesy and unneeded, but that haunting prelude with the piano piece really makes up for it.

P1 PSP is my favorite, and i DO think it fits well with the tone of P1. My favorite part is the look Maki gives the camera (any by extension the player), that shit still haunts me, and i think matches well with the dreamy/surreal tone of the game.

8:45 I think they didnt get title cards precisely because they're new. In the context of the player being an outside observer, theyre giving the spotlight to the reigning champions, the returning cast, while the comparatively underdog new characters dont get that flashy intro- they need to show their worth in combat

I gotta say, the main defining thing I absolutely adore about all the Persona intros-- mostly the mainline ones, is featuring a Butterfly. IDK I just love how it's been there from the very beginning and has made a place for itself as a defining Persona motif.

The only downside I have with tactica’s opening is that i wish there was more action during the chorus of the song, I know the song and the opening is about Revolution, I just wished it was more fast paced to fit the energy of the song. The opening is still pretty good. The song is absolutely phenomenal, one of lyn’s best.

persona is low effort copy/paste trash. It hasn't changed at all since the first game, its stale and lacks anything compelling. There's nothing dynamic about it. Its still shots of 5 people talking while little text boxes appear. The dungeon content is purposefully made tedious instead of being difficult. A 5 year old wouldn't have difficulty in any of these games. The cutscenes haven't been hand drawn since person 3, and the remake cutscenes are all CGI.Every characters personality is just copied from another character that came before. I played them all, but 5. and I watch a play through of that one. I am just disappointed in something. The "mature" aspects of these games are an 11 year olds opinion of what edgy is. The relationships feel weak and forced with no substance. The voice acting is always a miss. Even in japanese, the voice acting is horrible. These games are made as cheaply as possible and everyone else suffers for it.
