I think what makes young royals unique is the fact that it doesn’t only focus on the fact that the two main characters are gay, literally the word « gay » has been said only once in the whole season, and it was even in a conversation that wasn’t that important. This show just represents the love between two people, who their social and economic background are completely different, and the pressure that a young prince feels every time which impacts his love life.

young royals is definitely a comfort show to me. the conflict between the gay characters wasn’t based on miscommunication or cheating which felt so refreshing to see. all of the characters had realistic motivation and they overall felt like real people instead of fictional tv characters. the way the show was shot was simple yet stunning and I can’t say enough good things about it. EVERYTHING WAS SO PERFECT also slight spoiler but if the show doesn’t get a season 2, I feel like season one ends on a really realistic and hopeful note

I didn’t even know Young Royals had any LGBTQ rep going into it, all I knew was that it was swedish and about a prince. Soild young royals pitch: each character is realistic and they’re arcs are very interesting and the development of the realationships were very entertaining to watch, they were also played really well emotionally, there’s only 5 characters so the story is easy to follow, the plot is also spaced out really well, the skin texture representation is refreshing to see, there’s parties, yt people suffering and THE BEST GAY CHEMISTRY I HAVE EVER SEEN ON TV!!! 8/10 you should watch it

Okay, but Buffy is such a good show and I highly recommend a watch through. For me it’s kinda got everything I would ever want from a 90’s/00’s show. Lesbian witches, Sarah Michelle, hot demons, not hot demons, witty dialogue, ELIZA FRICKIN DUSHKU! Plus, MOST of it holds up pretty well despite it still being outdated at times. Joss can choke though. ^_^

the best thing about young royals is that it's not trying to base everything on the main couple being gay. like, it portrays their relationship as a very natural thing and the conflict because of it isn't because it's gay, it's because wilhelm is a prince. the first episode is a little boring but the writing and the acting is really good and every main/supporting character is really well written and has a personality and a backstory and a subplot instead of being plot devices for the two main characters. it's a short and sweet show

I had to quit the Crown because after season 3 I was just angry at their existence to the point I couldn't even enjoy the mess and the drama. I was skeptical about starting Young Royals too because I thought it would be too "teen drama"-y but I'm so glad I did. The chemistry between the leads is insane and they act so well. The whole royalty concept does seem a bit crazy at first but honestly whoever wrote and directed it just really knew how to make it feel real, you feel so connected to the characters and emotionally invested. The pacing was so good as well considering there's only 6 episodes! I really hope they make a 2nd season

so surprised by Young Royals! I was immediately hooked from the first episode because I found it really exciting. I ended up binging the whole show in one sitting cause I always wanted to know what happened next. I HIGHLY recommend that you watch Buffy The Vampire Slayer! You have to ignore the corny special effects (especially in s1) and see it for what it truly is. And what it is is a deep, multi-layered, complex show with rich character development and raw, beautiful acting. It’s impacted a lot of the shows you have watched and is so much more than it seems. There are literal college courses that have deciphered its themes, symbolisms, and messages that are shown throughout the show. It’s a young girls journey into the horrors of adolescence, slaying her inner demons and learning about who she is and what place she has in this world. It has 3 episodes that are known as some of the greatest of TV ever! It is pure art.

I'm so so happy everyone is pitching for Young Royals, Its such a freaking good show, and I think a lot of people have already said the Young Royals pitch and why its so good but I wanna add the fact the actor of Simon from Young Royals is that YR is his debut as an actor and he did so so well in the series, he is insanely talented. There are so many scenes that are improvised as well mostly the scenes between the two main characters (most of the scenes are improvised by Edvin, who plays Wilhelm in the series, he is truly an amazing actor). Also, the fact that this show was created by women. There are tons of details on the show as well that is very interesting and makes the show even better.

For young royals, what makes the show special is it chooses to step away from a lot of stereotypes created about gay people by mass media within Hollywood. The relationship is slowly developed and showcases lots of realistic emotions experienced by gay highschoolers. Sex plays a role in the relationship, but it's very small in the larger scheme of their relationship which I have found rare for gay representation. The first episode is admittedly boring, but during the progression it gets much stronger plot-wise and builds lots of depth throughout the multitude of characters.

why you should watch young royals: it's written, directed & produced by women. the representation is actually ACCURATE. the 4 main characters are unlabeled & with anxiety, big black girl, neurodivergent girl and a gay latino. it uses so many cliches and overused plots and completely flips them. like the mean girl (usually portrayed by white skinny blonde) is actually the most genuine person. the main drama isn't isn't about their sexuality or homophobia, just in general it's REALISTIC. there is no unnecessary or random drama just for the sake of it. everything makes sense, even characters you're supposed to hate are understandable and have logical motivations. I just like how real it is. no plot holes or lazy writing, everything is relevant

The thing abt young royals is it brings you that normal teenage relatability whist taking place in an interesting and unrelatable setting. Ofc we can’t relate to being a royal or going to a prestigious boarding school, but we can relate to Simons friendships, to coming to terms with sexuality, unhealthy and toxic family relationships. And the show presents these issues that many relate to (like Simon attending a majority white, upper class school as a gay POC or Wilhelms estranged relationship with his family and the immense pressure to reach impossibly high standards) in a normal and realistic way compared to shows such as 13 reason why where they dramatize these aspects to the point of complete unrelatability.

shadow and bone is such a good fantasy that isn’t difficult to understand like many fantasy shows. it has good diversity and interesting love tropes (lovers to enemies, friends to lovers, mutual pining w/ touch aversion trauma). it’s based off of the grishaverse books(shadow and bone trilogy and six of crows duology) that are about two different storylines in different times in the same world but the writers combined the stories since they are both so popular. very excited to see the second season since it will go more in depth with the six of crows characters

The story was too juvenile, specially the romance bits, predictable, cliche and dramatic (straight from whattpad is what i mean). The main character had no charisma, and i didnt really "love" any of the characters. The only one who interested me was Inej, the rest of her group was also ok, but even their parts i think could have had a much better execution. And that plot of "being the chosen one" "being the sole bearer of this ultimate power" is not very appealing to me as a plot device in general. Also the acting wasnt good. i had the same attidute about young royals before i actually sat and watched it. I got so hooked on it that i finished it in one night. What i like the most about it is that its directed by a woman and of you pay attenttion to it and rewatch it, you can notice all the details and hints towards what is going to happen. The actors had so much freedom and a lot of their scenes are impovised. I also love how realistically they potray the high schoolers and they actually look like high schoolers. They are also normalizing acne and texture on the skin. The actors themselves also dubbed it in english. I dont know if I am being biased since its nordic show and I am from a nordic county as well 😂 but im having my swedish finals soon so watching that show is helping me study at the same time so thats fun

NO - NOT THE GAYNESS PER SE - THE C H E M I S T R Y. - Fast paced: 6 eps, 40 min each. 4hrs total. - A prince gets sent to a boarding school against his will, and falls for the one person who seems to see past the titles and doesn’t suck up to him just cause he’s a prince. - Yes, that sounds cliché af, but that’s what’s so great about the show: you judge each character in the beginning and have all these prejudices against them, but then the amazing creators start to twist and turn these stereotypes and make the characters so multidynamic, flawed, interesting, etc. - Honor culture related to class. You don’t see it often when it comes to upper class, the topic isn’t explored or talked about in the same way or range as when related to lower/middle class, but this show delves into that. - Realism. Despite centering a literal PRINCE, it manages to be a lot more grounded, relatable and realistic than most shows out there. There is actual ✨communication✨ between people, their actions are reasonable and not overly dramatic, you can understand where each person comes from even tho u might not always agree with them. - The use of improvisation and intuition. The actors came up w a lot of stuff on the spot and it works so well. - The show obviously resonated with a lot of ppl: the two main actors both gained 1M insta followers in a matter of weeks. Fans have gotten tattoos with quotes from the show or portraits of the characters, and ppl are learning swedish. - THE ACTORS ARE SO TALENTED and it’s Omar Rudberg’s debut which is so unbelievable cause he’s so good. - How it was created: there is lgbtq+ both in front of and behind the camera, the director Rodja Sekersöz and head writer Lisa Ambjörn are SO wise and such geniuses. Amazing women. I really recommend watching their ’deep talk’ on netflix nordic’s channel after finishing the show, cause it’s like the most intellectual/eye opening/wise conversation I’ve ever heard And the show used an intimacy coordinator which has gotten a lot of attention cause of her amazing work with how important consent, respect and comfort is when shooting intimate scenes. - THE SOUNDTRACK FVCKIN SLAPS. Rojda the director also made a post on her instagram talking about how much she adores the artists and how proud she is that the songd in the show are made by third culture kids women and how inspiring the stories they tell through their art are to her. - The editing/directing/lighting/angles are really nice. They even have some subtle color palettes or lightings that represent lgbtq flags in some scenes which is dope. It’s stuff like that that you don’t really think about as you’re watching, at least not the first time around. - The cast irl are so precious, especially Edvin and Omar’s friendship, it is the most wholesome to ever exist. - Character Simon is the cutest smolest bean to ever exist & I will protect him with my life. Honorable mentions: - The fan edits are god tier. reasons to watch young royals; the actors look like actual teenagers, the main character isn’t actually gay they purposefully left him unlabeled to show its valid to not label your sexuality, one of the most accurate depictions of anxiety and panick attacks i’ve seen, latinx representation, a character with Asperger‘s being played by an actress who actually has aspergers, written and directed by women, the soundtrack is phenomenal, a realistic depiction of two young people falling for each other who face conflict but not because of a lack of communication, the intimate scenes feel very natural and loving, simons singing, there are quite a few scenes that were completely improvised by the actors (one very significant scene to the story especially) and they are some of my favorite scenes in the show. I really hope that you do actually react to it because I think it’s something that you’d really enjoy and want to watch. at least watch the entire first episode before making a decision.

One Tree Hill is one of my favorite shows. They have multiple murderers, psycho stalkers, school shootings, teen suicides, love triangles, kidnappings, and teen marriage and pregnancy. Not at all boring and one of the better teen dramas of the 2000s. Not to mention that Brooke Davis is the best character in the history of television, Nathan and Haley are one of the best teen drama couples, and the Lucas/Peyton/Brooke love triangle is iconic.

definitely watch Outerbanks Trust me. I agree that the acting at the start of the show is bad, it gets so much better as time goes on. It takes a while to get into because the storyline is so slow at the start but from mid-season onto season 2 it gets a lot better. The acting in season 2 is incredible compared to season 1 and each season only has 10 episodes so it's not hard to binge-watch. The cast is extremely talented. Madelyn Cline who plays Sarah in the show has been cast in Knives Out 2 and is filming it in Greece right now

Even the "bad guys" you kind of feel bad for them in some way. There's so many well written comments explaining why you should watch Young Royals so all I have to add is that I'm confident you'll love the football field scene and the song that plays in the background. 'Revolution' by Elias worked so perfectly in the context of the scene and the song itself is *beautiful* . And, since I know you can appreciate a good soundtrack, I know you'll love at least this aspect of the show. Because it's genuinely. So. Good.

wasn't even incest lol. They neither grew up together nor are they related in any way. It's just a problematic relationship and they acknowledged it as such within the show itself. It was made abundantly clear over and over that they cannot be foster siblings and dating and no one was supportive of Callie and Brandon going through with it. I think Nate trying to sexually advance on his dad in Euphoria was way more troubling that anything The Fosters did with Callie and Brandon if we're talking about incest.

"Real family" is an ambiguous term, and is representative of the family we've chosen. As such, it can also include our romantic partners, pets, friends and so on. gilmore girls is one of those shows that dont have a concrete plot but its still my fav show and comfort show because of the vibe and the characters/their dynamics. rory can be annoying but the this is us guy (jess) makes the show for me, just fully watch s2 and s3 trust me. fate the winx saga being higher than outer banks hurts me. outer banks is a heist story with a huge family element, also your favourite guy pope is also one of my favs and has a huge storyline in season 2. i would recommend watching it because it honestly just keeps getting better. ALL AMERICAN is very good, its about a guy who lives in a less priveleged neighbourhood who gets a chance to play football at beverly hills, deals a lot with classism and black issues! the oc is iconic and amazing you have to watch omg its short too. I LOVE SHADOW AND BONE SM its so good and the crows are amazing

I think the reason I love Young Royals so much is the casting and how relatable it is. The way they didn’t cover up acne, had a representation of different body types, poc, homosexuality and neurodiversity really just made me enjoy the show more. I also love the fact how the “popular girl,” Felice, wasn’t like the stereotypical popular girl. She was very kind and open to hearing what other people had to say. Moving on to the romance, it was nice to see how Wilhelms and Simons chemistry developed, they had a lot of trust and passion for eachother and yet the show wasn’t only based on this romance. Each character had their own story bringing the plot all together. I will be honest, I’ve rewatched this show many times and it’s sooo fun to see how every little thing effected the other, making everything come full circle. It’s also refreshing to see a cast of high schoolers actually look like high schoolers, plus, the soundtrack is amazing 😭 I really hope you and others can get into it and enjoy the show, but ik everyone has different tastes. Hoping for a season 2!!!

Another young royals pitch is… even though it’s a very unrealistic situation the characters are great actors and the teenagers do teenager things they look like teenagers and THEY HAVE ACNE like bro they aren’t covered in makeup and have perfect body’s they’re normal teenagers and that just amazed me 😗 that was enough for me to keep watching the show I also just loved the plot in general ALSO GENERATION IS AN AMAZING SHOW

Young Royals is so good, you are missing out so bad. It's only 6 episodes long but its amazing. The second son of the Swedish royal family gets filmed having a fight so gets sent to a fancy boarding school. There he catches feelings for the boy who is there on scholarship. The whole gay aspect is never an issue and so many tropes you expect are flipped on their head, Prince Wilhelm has more internal trouble about what he is expected to be as a Prince, not because he likes a boy. Other great things that are different to the norm - the 'it' girl is a plus size Black girl, Simon the love interest is out and gives no fs, him and his family speak Spanish at home (it's in Swedish the rest of the time) his sister is Autistic and it's only a tiny aspect of who she is. All the characters are great and you will definitely get hooked on it

im just here to confirm that the wilds is such an amazing show and more of y'all should be watching it so that it can keep getting renewed for more seasons. like it's a mixture of a coming-of-age story and a survival story with some dystopian elements too.... literally has it all. it also has gay characters/relationships, great acting, exciting plot twists, and touches on so many important struggles and issues. 11/10 recommend and I promise im not being paid to say this
