i read the pride & prejudice physical book while listening to an audiobook of it at the same time and it made the experience so much better!!! the audiobook was free on youtube and the narrator was phenomenal, it really made the experience for me and i ended up giving pride & prejudice 5 stars

I would DEFINITELY recommend reading the physical book of Pride and Prejudice instead of audio, either that or both. This is not the type of story you’d want to listen to while doing chores especially. Also watching the movie before reading the book might help, the newest movie is very good! I hope you do keep trying it- it’s one of the OG enemies to lovers!

The Pride and Prejudice (2005) movie is so good in my opinion. I actually watched the movie before reading the book which I think helped me understand what was happening in the book better and also helped me to be able to imagine the characters. And when I read the book it took me FOREVER to read because of the posh language and wording. It was pretty hard to just sit down and read it for an hour or so. I kept getting distracted lol. Overall though, I’m glad I read it. I understand why you DNFed it though, it definitely takes a while to get through. I love your videos! Great job!

They gasp that came out of my mouth when you DNF Pride and prejudice 🤣 I totally support DNF a book if you don’t feel like reading it tho, I recommend the 1995 series, it’s so good, as well as the 2005 film 🫶🏻

I find that short stories and poetry are better to read over time. Like read one, then wait a day before reading another. At least that's how I enjoy them

Honestly focusing on the romance in a fantasy is literally me 😂 I prefer the subplot of romance in fantasy books over the romance in a lot of romance books. I can’t wait to see your fantasy journey 🥰

This is not something I usually do but I find with classics it’s easier to watch the film first and the 2005 one is great to connect to characters and the plot do I know what was going on and then found that I connected to the characters and the plot more. It ended up being one of my favourite books I have read, I recommend doing thus and giving it another shot

I would love to recommend the following book to you: Daily Rituals: Women at Work by Mason Currey - It's a non-fiction all about the process and daily habits/work habits/routines of some of the most famous artists, scientists, musicians, writers, poets, dancers, choreographers, etc. Each woman's creative process and habits are described in just a few pages- mostly 2-3 pages. I have found this book fascinating, interesting, and often inspiring. Happy reading!

I always try to read books from different genres or else I feel like you would miss out on so many great books with meaningful stories! The sci-fi book I read & loved: - The Lathe of Heaven by Ursula McGuin (definitely a "light" sci-fi book set in our world) A great historical fiction I read in spring: - City of Girls by Elizabeth Gilbert (fun & fast paced book set in NYC from 1910-1970, great writing-style) A creative non-fiction by the same author: -Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert (this was THE BOOK in 2017/18 especially in the creativity space) The best political thriller so far: - The Street Lawyer by John Grisham (such an underrated book about such an important topic!) A very well-written memior: -Anne Frank Remembered: The Story of the Woman Who Helped to Hide the Frank Familiy . by Miep Gies A fantasy book with a lot of oriental elements: -We Hunt the Flame by Hafsah Faizal (Duology) A melancholic tragedy that reminds me of Normal People by Sally Rooney: - Don't ask me why by Tania Kindersley (definitely underrated as well, a bond between friendships before, during and after college) if y'all want more recs lmk!

I've read all 5 of these genres but mainly stuck with epic fantasy, mystery/thriller and self-help. Getting out of your comfort zone is often a very good way to get a lot of inspiration to write. As a fantasy writer I got a lot of inspiration from encyclopaedias about animals and plants.

A short story collection I’d recommend is Blackout by Dhonielle Clayton, Tiffany D. Jackson, Nic Stone, Angie Thomas, Ashley Woodfolk, and Nicola Yoon. Yes lots of authors! The stories follow different characters but all taking place in one night during a blackout in NYC. The stories deal a lot with love, relationships, friendships & it’s just so cute, and It’d be great to read if you’re getting into short stories.

If you want some fun light hearted short stories, any of Stuart Maclean’s books. He writes about a small town in eastern Canada and it mostly surrounds around a family but does focus on some other characters in that town. They are super funny and entertaining. He has recordings of him reading it to an audience and those are so fun to listen to as well.

Don't for dnfing pride and prejudice. Even as an English Literature student I didn't like it much (gave it 3 stars). The posh writing honestly annoyed me and I think there are much better romance classics out there so I do think it's a bit overrated 😬
