As much as i want to see austin have the gt500 back, i’d leave it to the old man happy with his beautiful and perfectly colored collection. The smile on his face is legend. It’s on the right hands austin but it will be great to get another one else where. The c8 is awesome but the gt500 is really something special.
@Mike-dd8bd2 жыл бұрын
I have an opposite view point. If I was the old man I would sell the car back to him and make him promise me to never sell it. The GT500 is not his generation mustang and will never be as special as someone who was young and owned it.

@@amac8487 You are missing my point. You can still enjoy a car at any age. But there is a certain level of nostalgia the 25 year old won’t know about. This is why so many older people have old cars.
@amac84872 жыл бұрын
@@Mike-dd8bd I get your point. Totally get it…. But you can’t devalue the meaning of an object or emotion towards something based on age alone. Also, the problem we have today is everything is so damn disposable. People buy and flip cars over and over and over because they can, and there are so so so many cool cars out there to experience. Not many people buy something and hold onto it like they used to back in the day; and that’s said for everything, not just cars. We are living in a disposable world

While I don’t know his backstory, I hope there is sentimental value to him; maybe a family member purchased the car originally, or something similar. Otherwise, how hard would it have been to find another with a few months of patience? It’s a brand new car that won’t be tough to find on the used market. Even using the guy in the video as an example, he built his own car when he was much younger. Either way, he does seem passionate about this hobby, and for that I’m thankful to be able to share with him.

This dude epitomizes a true enthusiast with Carroll Shelby's perspective, drive your cars. Many "so called" enthusiasts own these vehicles and refuse to drive them like they were meant to be driven. This dude not only keeps these vehicles pristine but drives them. "I am not that good of a drive, but I am learning." Classic. I like that ford modernized the mustang by contemporary standards, but in the same note I would never own one for that reason. Give me the last Shelby mustang Carroll Shelby worked on, the 2014 Shelby GT500, but I also like the 2016-2020 Shelby GT350 and GT350R models quite a bit. Great video!

I know a guy from the gym who's probably got $70M in Ferrari's sitting in a very large "barn/garage" behind his house but rarely drives them. What's the sense in having really cool cars you don't drive? He's got some rare cars but he doesn't drive them because he wants to stay under the radar and is too afraid of someone trying to steal one from him. It's like OK, nice cars but who cares....

A few years later by random chance I happened to see it for sale again on the front page of the Truck Trader mag at a local smoke shop. Never bought it back. But to this day all these years later I still regret selling my baby. A framed photo of it still hangs in my garage and I still think of the good times and good memories I had with it in the early 80s. I've had many, many vehicles since then and currently have a StingerGT (which I absolutely love!!).....but nothing will come close to that beloved Ford pickup.

He sure put on a tease asking you if you still wanted it... lol. Honestly, as much as its hard to say, I think the car is at the right home. Prob the best video you've done. There's something about the camaraderie between car enthusiasts, doesn't matter if you're younger or older. I love the happiness that comes thru from both of you, the overall pride of owning a piece of Ford history. The two cars side by side and listening to them... makes me a little sad for the future. I know we will move away from fossil fuels, whether going to electric or something actually sustainable, there is just something about hearing the cars. Nothing compares to the music made by a V8 (as well as other combustion engines). I regret selling my 2013 GT500... this has inspired me to get on the ball and find another Shelby.
