Actually seen a yandere irl. This guy in highschool had a bad rumor going around about him that his entire friend group kinda left him but this one chick who stuck with him and kinda supported him. Found out later down the road that she spread said rumor (which got so bad that the police got involved which how it was discovered) so she can literally keep him to herself and act as his only support.

Men in general like the idea of a devoted lover, Yanderes is that idea taken to one possible extreme, another possible take on that idea is the self-sacrificing lover, but for many people that is not great because a self-sacrificing lover is more hi maintenance. Mess up with a self-sacrificing lover and the results are that she will receive the brunt of the damage, mess up with a Yandere and she murks you... For many people the idea of the second is less painful than the first, if there is actual love in the equation at least.

I've always been of the mindset that things like Yanderes a d Tsunderes are only good on paper, where they belong. Remove the cute anime aesthetics and the safety layer of fiction, and you'll end up in pretty abusive relationships and sometimes with your life in danger But hey, that's what fantasy is for. A dudes gotta cope with social invisibility somehow lol

Realistic mild tsunderes IRL are actually pretty cute. Of course avoid meeting the violent tsundere types (if it even exists) but IRL tsunderes are usually just awkward/easily embarrassed girl who usually has some level of pride towards something. Unlike anime tropes actual people have complex emotion and logic so 'IRL tsundere' is just a way for people to label/categories certain side of otherwise complex human being. The problem with 'IRL yandere' is that unlike tsundere yandere is at the very least unhealthy, if not criminal attitude.

Tsunderes are pretty cute. I think the physical abuse they do is awful, but the best thing about them is that they can't express their feelings very well. And the best part is when you help them open up and it's what makes it so likeable. Most wholesome gotta be my fave TsunLiese manga where the male lead wants to understand her more, and she learns to open up to him more and their love for each other flourishes. plus i rarely see punching the male MCs anymore. However Yanderes irl, trust me.... It sucks...

I used to date this girl, she started off pretty chill but as time went on shit started to go off the rails. She started requesting for me and her to hang out privately (which is normal), then it got to the point where she'd cling to me whenever hanging with friends and start speaking for me, she'd joke around and talk about gatekeeping me from friends and others, throw tantrums whenever I said no, tried to keep me in by sexual means and even crying and having break downs when we broke up. She did the last thing like 3 times since I'm typically a nice dude and care for others feelings over mine. But man, I remember being younger and going "haha yeah I wish I had someone obsessed with me like in those anime", I could have never been anymore wrong.

I actually once was obsessed with someone, same as Kanae I was feeling alone all the time, no self esteem, anxious, unloved, so when I got in a relationship where I think I was loved I cherished it, but when the moment came and I lost the relationship and to top it off, she cheated on me, extreme sadness and anger set in, the emotions took over my entire being, a friendly advice from someone who experienced extreme emotional rollercoaster, when you're in that situation, try to restrain yourself figuratively, if needed, literally, just cry yourself to sleep, crying makes you drowsy, just try to kill time until the emotions subsides, trust me, it will subside, as you recover, try to be more happier with little things, and be positive, and people will start being there for you.

Title of 君に愛されて痛かった (Kimi ni aisarete itakatta) Is actually a play on words. 痛かった means “it hurt” or “it did hurt” Focus on the character 痛 which means pain. Direct translation of this title would be “you loved me and it hurt”. Now look at this 君に愛されていたかった (kimi ni aisarete itakatta). What’s different? It sounds the same when spoken but it is missing the character 痛. Now removing that one single character will turn the title into “I wanted to stay loved by you” completely different but you know, similar in a way. Reason for this is いたかった (ittakatta) is the past tense + a human emotion of want or wanted. *don’t need to read this next part but here is a bonus: いた(ita) when used in a sentence often means “was.” As in a statement. 愛されていた(aisareteita) would mean was loved. The second you add かった(katta) is what turns this statement or fact into something more personal, a feeling of yearning, the thing that’s coming from an individuals heart as “wanted”.

In fiction, I got a soft spot for the right kind of Yandere. (Especially the RARE submissive male kind.) The bloodlust & stalking just come w/ the package. For me, the perfect ratio of a Yandere character is 3/8 Yan- & 5/8 -dere. Just possessive & bloody enough to be enjoyable, but ultimately real love & care. (Too much Yan & things get REALLY bad, REALLY fast. The most I’ll tolerate is a 50/50 split.) However, stories that take these tropes seriously do scratch an itch for me. It is genuinely scary. It is wrong & dangerous. To depict that for what it is, is something I respect & appreciate. Show the reality, & maybe help someone who needs to see it for what it is.

what are your thoughts on kiryu setsuna from kengan ashura? i just finished the first season & thought it was really wild to see a yandere in the form of a deeply traumatized but extremely powerful, muscle-bound femboy who really just wants the object of his obsession to kill him. it's interesting, because there's not necessarily much indication that he wants to hurt ohma back. he really just.....sees ohma as a god and has this very eroticized, romantic fixation on fighting and being killed by him. of course, he's determined to fight on ohma's level, but his ultimate goal is just to die by his hands. he responds possessively to other characters' interest in ohma, positive or negative, but there's not necessarily this sense that he wants ohma to die with him. he just wants his life to end via ohma, which is........honestly a hard motivation to dispute, given how truly _horrible_ setsuna's life has been. his traumas aren't the least bit diminished in their presentation - in fact most KA characters are shown to be clearly psychologically unwell, or else they wouldn't be where they are - but they very clearly illustrate how he became as twisted as he is, and it's honestly very strange. it's interesting how he responds to the other people he keeps around, as well. they're all just pawns in his goal, at the end of the day, and he'd kill them to get what he's after - but otherwise, he treats them cordially and even kindly. even so, he makes no efforts to hide his intentions. a very bizarre and fascinating take on the trope, to say the very least.
@TheOddityFair
@TheOddityFair 9 ай бұрын
@@asmokeus The thing about Setsuna, as you pointed out, is his obsession is less romantic/erotic & more religious zealotry. He’s obsessed, not w/ Ohma, but w/ Ohma’s feral side & the carnage it creates. I see this as similar to the show BAKI (or Baki the Grappler), where fighting & brutality is what’s so attractive to the characters. There are euphemisms. Of course there are. But the thrill of the fight & the challenge of the opponent is what matters most. It taps into the primal part of our minds that naturally craves superiority & the desire to prove it. This also ties into being acknowledged, which is what Setsuna wants. Ohma was the one who unintentionally saved Setsuna, who, b/c of his immense childhood trauma, saw him as a deity that could both punish him for being born & set him free of his torment. Everything he did afterwards was to find him & receive his brutal end. His hatred for Niko stems from how he changed Ohma for the better, viewing him as “the devil” that corrupted his deity. Niko even stops Ohma from killing Setsuna outright, which further cemented that image & unhinged Setsuna. (Other Niko doesn’t help at all.) Post-Niko, Setsuna does whatever he can to earn Ohma’s wrath. When this fails, he starts trying to groom Ryuki into his new destroyer. This also fails, but it was always going to. No one could compare to Ohma. Setsuna, at the end of the day, is a deeply traumatized & suićidal man. He wants to die to be set free of his torment, to be punished, & to achieve salvation. Ohma is simply the name of the one he’s convinced, on a spiritual level, can grant him that.

As someone who have been in that type of relationship (More Narssistic abuse, and not one that is percisely Yandere), hearing the depection sent a chill down to the bone. My ex at the time would get angery with me when I didn't respond when trying to spend time with my aunt in Disney world, He could go out and do everything but he would be upset if I spent time with friends without him (I was suppose to be at his hip whenever we went out and he only would allowed me to be seprate from him when he was upset with me because I was upset with him) and pretty much as soon as I broke it off, he wanted to destroy my life by hoping some of the people who didn't know me would harrass me on the internet. Heori doesn't realize he's in an abuseive relationship from the sounds of it, or if he does... he's tricked to think that it'll get better. Those type of people will constantly do a back and forth where it's a taking and you think you're getting something in return but it's never there. It took me 8 years to get out of mine.... So while you may get fustrated with Heori, do understand abuse victums go through a lot of mental gymatics just to survive and hope for the best, so it's actually realistic of how they're protraying Heori as well. I was almost a husk of what I once was when I finally got the bravey to brake it off myself (He wouldn't even do the braking off even though he "lost intrest in me"). I am glad though a lot of people in the comments here actually agree this is a realistic depiction of abuse, even when it's not physical on the person that it's directed to. It's not that easy to get away when you're told that you're "safer being with them" than braking it off.

for the people asking for the name, its called I Wanted To Be Hurt By Love (Kimi ni Aisarete Itakatta) i actually might just reread this one, i remember really enjoying it and it was very interesting, but i have to say i disagree with the point of supposing to hate Kanae. you could hate her but it’s extremely clear she’s a disturbed person and even seeing a the horrible stuff she goes through at home and school, but doesn’t completely excuse her actions. you could feel bad for her and understand why she is that way being completely dependent on him, but you also realize how bad and unhealthy it is and disagree with it, not necessarily hating on her. Kanae isn’t the only one who’s wrong though, there’s other characters who done bad stuff too, maybe even worse, mostly due to social pressuring. she’s more of the lesser evil, but to paint her as the ONLY bad person here is wrong

I find myself being worried for her _and_ about her all the time. Like, she is _not_ the most casually cruel person in that story. What she is is the most obsessive and straightforward - and therefore most dangerous. So we have all these other characters - kids - creating all these horrible, realistic core memories for each other, and then there's genuinely damaged-from-the-jump people like Kanae and Narumi who are willing and able to respond with _intentional_ abuse to the other characters unintentional abuses, and they don't have the positive outlook in life, the _hope_ , necessary to hold back. So I'm just constantly worried that they're going to get hit with one of these common cruelties and respond with an uncommon one, and it's going to fuck everyone up.

Huh, you know, this reminds me of this dream I had. It was supposed to be a horror film about an "adult pleasure doll" that not only has A.I. but was also a yandere ever since the protagonist ordered it online and gave it a name ("Ai" which means "love" in Japanese). The mean girls found out and bullied her by calling her perverted. The "adult pleasure doll" noticed this and unalived anyone who messes with her. The funny thing is that the protagonist behaved like a small child scribbled on the walls with a crayon. Like, "Ai, what have I told you about having a body count? It's okay, we'll get this mess cleaned up. Of course, I'm not mad at you, I'm just scared of what they'll do to you if they found out about you."

While I’m not usually a fan of yanderes in mainstream media-I tend to prefer Yandere ASMRs, since not only does it allow for me to enjoy a bit of a fantasy, but I find a lot of those yanderes to be more sympathetic, human, and restraining (often, the worse that’ll happen in those audios is the yandere just kidnaps you or refuses to take “no” for an answer) as opposed to media-but I still find this a very fascinating concept for a manga. I might have to check it out, especially since I am a sucker for deconstructions of different works! Still, I have to be honest that, as much as I like this story, I am a little disappointed it still hits one of my biggest issues with how the Yandere Archetype is portrayed in most stories. Namely, that the yandere character in question, even when portrayed sympathetically or given good reasons for being mentally ill, is still a fundamentally evil person who can’t be reformed or redeemed. Don’t get me wrong: I know that yanderes started off as villains, and many of the things they typically do would, in real life, lead to them getting some amount of jail time. But, my problem here is that even when the yandere MC has not only good reasons for being mentally unwell, and has moments where she can change, the story seems to say that she can’t or won’t and thus isn’t worthy of practically *any* form of love or companionship. I’m guessing a part of that is because, from my understanding, mental health issues are stigmatized in East Asian cultures just as much, if not more so, as in Western cultures, but still-I’d really like to see a story that “reconstructs” yanderes wherein the yandere character is portrayed realistically, but it also shows said yandere needs human love and companionship and a big part of the story is said yandere learning to get help and become a better person.

Bruh Sydsnap does not represent this manga very well. There’s a lot to unpack. Like holy cow I didn’t even realize she was talking about a manga I read. A lot of the people in the manga are bad people. Kanae is bullied by her “friends”/classmates just because someone took a picture of her with the boy another girl liked. She didn’t even realize she liked Hiroshi until her juvenile delinquent/criminal friend tells her.A lot of people in this manga have warped minds thinking they are in the right. You could definitely consider the MC a “Yandere” but she’s more complicated than that. Kanae also seeks out friends still. She’s not outright stalking him but is obsessive about him doing things like spam texting. It might escalate though. Her love for him is leading to a toxic relationship in the future of the manga. Kanae’s love for Hiroshi has resulted in two bad things happening so far as a consequence of her interacting with him.

I think that ties in to one of the primary reasons I like yanderes in the first place; I can see myself doing the same things. If I were in Kanae’s position I honestly might’ve gone down a similar path, and say I were instead in Hiroshi’s situation I’d be more than welcoming of her. A yandere will usually only go to extreme lengths if a threat to their goal is perceived, so by giving them the love they do desire, I think that a happy ending can be achieved for them and whoever they wanted to love and have love them.

I always think, for most Yanderes, it cannot be that hard to keep them in check, prevent them from ruining my life... -- Assuming she cares about my feelings, that is. - Yes, I won't be able to be with anyone else etc, but: - Tell her what I want from her, what would make me happy - if she's madly in love with me, she should do it, right? - Tell her I won't love her and that it will hurt me if she does this or that - unless her feelings grow too extreme, doing what she can for me should overpower it, right? - Accept her, give her love, and she should become a perfect obedient sub, so long as you don't cheat on her etc... and sure, some are more insane and actually do not care about you - just want you bound in their basement / kill you, etc ... - but the normal kind, that is just willing to do anything, even kill others to keep you to herself, but still cares about you being happy? ... idk ... I might be missing something important, but I might even like that irl...

Depending on the person, that sort of falls apart. Let me put it like this: Let's say you're in the situation you describe, you agree to be loyal, you set boundaries, and return her feelings. Now then, considering the sort of life and treatment that leads to people developing this co-dependent "yandere" attachment, it can be assumed that she's put her faith and trust in people before, and has been betrayed every time. She seeks an true bond that she can feel safe and secure in, but for someone who feels starved for validation,they will feel terrified of losing it, no matter what the recipient of her affection tells her. Nothing will ever be good enough, because it's rare for relationships at a young age to survive individual circumstances, so she's been conditioned to believe that you will just walk out on her some day. Let's say she really loves you and wants you to be happy, and she is sane. Ideally, she would trust you and value your happiness enough to push down her fear, and eventually your good faith will make her more comfortable and accepting. In practice though, she might cave into her fear, and do things you specifically warned her not to do and hurt you. In this case, what would you do? By this point I would imagine you've grown to enjoy her company and her affection, and she would know it. Would hurting you permanently damage your relationship, or would you forgive her?

@@dungeonmaster3464 I would punish her, obviously. Regardless of me forgiving her right away, she needs to earn the forgiveness for her own sake. And when I say punish, I don't mean anything awful. I would explain it to her first, and made sure she understands it's for her sake too. It wouldn't be just funishment either, though. - If she did something so awful I wouldn't be able to forgive her - probably because she subconsciously wants to make me abandon her to validate her own fears ... I'm not sure what I would do, but I would not give up on her right away, nor ignore it and just pretend I forgave. I would make sure she understands I am very unhappy about it, and that I value her enough to want to keep being with her... - Of course, I would have been training her before as well. - I would also try to provide her with psychological help from as soon as I think she's somewhat under control. - I do not want her to push down her fear. I would help her process it and hopefully over time transform it into a bit healthier form of attachment. Work on challenging the fear little by little, instead of pushing it down and letting it blow up.
