I made this game! I mean, I was on the core team working on this, not that I single-handedly made it. But still, I'm really happy to see it pop-up in videos every once in a while, warms my heart. Favorite tid-bit; all the Proto-Indo-European they speak in the game (Wenja people) is accurate as far as researchers know. We financed a university group in the UK that was working on re-building it. In exchange, they helped us write the dialogue as accurate as possible.

This game didnt get enough recognition for the dedication put into recreating the language for this game, they basically brought back what they think humans talked like through hardcore science, the voice actors had to learn it, they arent speaking gibberish in the game youll find they use the same phrases for the same words and the voice actors were forced to speak the language at the studio to strengthen their ability with it. Unless we find and decipher a writing system that old, there's no science on Earth that could possibly be used to figure out, much less reconstruct, any languages humans in Mesolithic Europe would've spoken. The language in the game is reconstructed Proto-Indo-European. We don't know when PIE would've developed (there's debate on that; the actual speakers didn't have a writing system so our knowledge of PIE depends on a fair amount of guesswork), but it would've been spoken in the Bronze Age when Indo-European horse tribes migrated from around the Black Sea, spread across Europe, and either mixed with or conquered the Pre-Indo-European inhabitants of Old Europe (think ancient Basques maybe, though honestly we know even less about Old Europe as they didn't have writing either (other than the Minoans (and maybe the Cucuteni?) whose writing system we haven't deciphered)). Which is quite a long time after this game is set. TL;DR the language in this game is based on what probably would've been spoken by the people who will probably subjugate your character's descendents in the distant future.

This is my favourite Far Cry game of all time, it was different, it was new, the way you could gather items for peoples homes and upgrade them was so fun to me, it was another thing to complete on top of the base liberations, the hunting was incredible, it was cinematic, I loved the spears and bows and how much you genuinely had to survive.

I will forever have a weird relationship with this game. For games I really enjoy I always go for platinum...I needed one more achievement in this game (basically get all side collectibles so you can get all the skills) but had to get rid of it before I could.
