I was there in the 90's but I disagree that they were unforgettable, as I appear to have forgotten most of it. I always think the 90's had a lack of good music compared to the 70's and 80's, then I hear some of the hits again and it's like, "oh yeah, that one. That was pretty good. How did I forget it"?

Agreed. But a fun decade

@@louisef1861 I find the 80s more forgettable, but it's because I didn't listen to much of the music that came out of that era, preferring music from the 30s to the 70s, Classical and Baroque, crossing plenty of genres. The synth sound of the 80s made me cringe.

Ace of Base were one of producer Denniz PoP's earliest major successes. He created Cheiron Studios and began one of the most extraordinary chains of chart success of the early 90s. Going on to produce albums by the Backstreet Boys, Dr Alban, Britney Spears, among many others. In 1993, Denniz hired another producer named Max Martin who is still a major force in pop music with some of the biggest hits of the last 20 years from artists like Britney Spears, Usher, Pink, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, The Weeknd and Ariana Grande. Sadly, Denniz died from stomach cancer in 1998 at the age of just 35.
@aporcelaingirl4 жыл бұрын
He died of a brain tumour, actually, but yeah, he died of brain cancer far too young. He also discovered Nana Hedin, who did background vocals on so many Cheiron and Max Martin productions, including Ace of Base's "Life is A Flower", a number of Céline Dion tracks and a whole lot of Britney Spears' songs. Look her up on KZbin and see how fantastic her voice is. She had to retire due to tongue cancer in 2009, but it's in remission now. You can find her on Instagram, too.

since this song came out in the 90s i never get tired of listening to it. yes there are ABBA influences . both bands are from sweden. when the ABBA members were married ace of base were comprised of 2 sisters a brother and friend. definately check out beautiful life and the extended version of the sign. for years i always thought this song has a religious meaning too. during the video the members point to the sky and you see a glow or light around them. and then there's the line to get into the light where you belong. i think this as the light of god. that the singer found the sign, although the video appears its about a relationship thats ended it could also signify a religious meaning although i have never heard anyone mention this before.

Ace of Base idolized ABBA, in their interviews they wanted to be Agnatha and Anni-frid. Some of their songs mimicked ABBAs lyrically about heartbreak. How they different is AOB their other songs are a little more cruel, a little harsh, and more in your face reality. They talk about hate and anti-hate, and racism. “The Sign” was written about that and not about a relationship of another person. “Happy Nation” was a song about confessions of racism by one of the members of the group, and has atoned from it. The band is just amazing, they were popular way before coming to America to do pop hits.
