I saw the amazing Northern Lights over Lancashire

The UK was treated to a stunning display of the Northern Lights on Friday & into Saturday morning as massive solar storm slammed into the earth's magnetic field, creating a powerful aurora that was more easily visible in UK than it was in Iceland or Norway. Many people saw the lights in Blackpool, but I travelled out of town to escape the light pollution.

It was seen strong and clear in Kent. My GoPro was pointing north all night, utter doofus I am, we had cloud so I left Timelapse running. Glad you have this, it is magical to me.

You captured some great footage I was outside last night and watched it overhead for quite a while. Another solar flare has left the sun on it's way should arrive on Sunday evening similar to this and again Monday so Nasa are saying. It's pretty amazing to see something you don't normally see in this part of the country.

Top job Starman! A super rare G5-max storm visible in the UK 😂 Although the storm began at 6pm, there was a significant geomagnetic strike at 9.30pm that seemed to spark the main auroral event. I understand the auroral band was on a west east line south of Manchester!! Watched untill 3am when it faded off into the north. Those colours were for real/unreal, especially around 11.30pm when they were visible over a lit street. Your time-lapse is simply exquisite.

No lol I missed it too, good chance of a repeat performance tonight maybe , I think the more CME's come off the sun , the higher the likleyhood , so there is a group of sunpots up there in a cluser tonight ... that cluster of earthfacing spots , are as big as the sunspots that blasted earth years ago in whats known as The Carrington Event... I think these are on the uptick , and will become more frquent I hope I dont nod off lol

Saw the lights up Loxley common in Sheffield, I didn't know anything about it, I was that gobsmacked I phoned my mother to get out of her house and check it out , even she could see the colours changing on a street lit housing estate, it was great stuff especially between around 11 till 12 o clock
